Chapter 317: Chapter 317 Brothers?
Asher looked between the two of them like a stunned audience member in a drama he didn’t audition for.

“I think… you misunderstood his words…” he said weakly, glancing at Darkness with a cautious smile.

“I can hear perfectly well what he said!” Darkness snapped, teeth gritted, his jaw so tense it looked like it could snap a brick in half. “And even if you go crawling to Lilith, she wouldn’t give you a second glance.”

Strom, instead of being insulted, actually smiled—no, smirked with a maddening calmness.

“Actually…” he began slowly, voice dipped in lazy arrogance, “she will definitely like me… if she knew.”

“Knew what?” Darkness growled, stepping forward.

Strom didn’t reply. He just gave a mysterious smile, eyes shimmering with a secret that annoyed Darkness more than anything.

And Asher, poor confused Asher, raised his hand like a referee trying to stop two wolves from fighting over territory.

“Wait! You… you no misunderstand him,” Asher said quickly, waving his hands, “we… we are Lilith brother! Yes—brothers! Not that… not what you think!”

Darkness narrowed his eyes. “Brothers?”

“Yes! Real real brothers. Family type! Not boyfriend type!” Asher added, nodding seriously like he just solved a murder case.

Strom just stood there smiling faintly, watching Darkness’s face go from stormy to… mildly cloudy.

“You should say that first,” Darkness muttered.

Asher scratched his head.

However, Darkness’s face turned cold, his jaw tightening as he stepped forward. “But Lilith is an orphan! She never mentioned having any family. Don’t try to fool me,” he said sharply, his voice laced with warning.

Even as he spoke, his eyes involuntarily flicked to Asher’s face—the curve of his jaw, the familiar shape of his eyes… there was a resemblance. A resemblance he had noticed the moment they met, but refused to believe.

Still, the question burned in him, harsher than the doubt.

“If you really are her family…” he said, voice low, “then where the hell were you all this time? When she was alone? When she had no one?”

***

On the other hand, shooting for Found You Across the River had officially begun, and Lilith’s invention was already under production.

She didn’t have much to worry about—most of the groundwork had been handled, though she still made regular visits to the lab to check progress and offer her input. After all, there were moments when even the engineers needed her help to solve a few stubborn problems only the creator could understand.

What surprised everyone was her deadline.

She had confidently set the goal to launch within two months.

Two months for a project of this scale? Most people in the industry laughed behind her back. A tech launch like this, with both software and product integration, usually took at least two to three years. Even the most efficient teams couldn’t cut it below twelve months.

But Lilith had something they didn’t.

She had clarity, control, and the audacity to take shortcuts only a genius would dare.

More than anything, she knew how to bend time when she set her mind to it.

Today was her first day on set, and the scene she was shooting was her introduction.

Lilith sat quietly with the script in her hand, reading the notes for her role. Her character was designed to appear midway through the plot, an unexpected, magnetic presence that shifted the entire story’s direction.

She didn’t have many scenes, but each one was long, emotionally charged, and crucial to the plot.

Her first scene was a silent walk down the corridor.

The set was lively with movement..cables snaking across the floor, lights hanging above like artificial suns, and crew members shouting directions. Makeup artists dashed between actors, adjusting collars, fixing flyaway hairs. It was the usual chaos before a take.

In the middle of it all, Nina and the male lead were shooting their scene.

The male lead, Jackson, had become an internet sensation almost overnight. His sharp jawline, striking eyes, and perfectly styled hair made him the heartthrob of the moment. But it wasn’t just his face—Jackson had the kind of body that screamed he never missed leg day. He was the gym type: early morning workouts, protein shakes, disciplined routine.

Girls adored him. Social media was filled with edits of him—slow-mo clips, workout videos, fan-made trailers. He had that effortlessly cool aura, and yet, in person, he seemed… almost too aware of his charm.

As Lilith stood off to the side watching them act, she noticed how Nina laughed a little too sweetly between takes, how Jackson leaned in just enough to tease the camera and maybe Nina too.

Lilith blinked once, then looked away.

Someone asked her to get ready, and she walked toward the makeup room, where the other characters were preparing.

When she entered, they glanced at her, and the room fell silent.

“Miss Lilith, right? Please have a seat,” the makeup artist said politely, gesturing toward the chair in front of the mirror.

As Lilith walked into the makeup room, the subtle hum of chatter seemed to falter. A few actresses glanced up from their compacts and lipsticks, their laughter pausing mid-air. Their eyes followed her, some curious, some cautious.

She didn’t react. Her steps were steady, and her expression unreadable as she took her seat.

The makeup artist approached her with a soft smile, pulling out a brush. “Your skin… it’s flawless,” she murmured with admiration. “You must take very good care of it.”

Lilith only nodded faintly, her reflection calm and collected.

When Lilith stepped out of the makeup room, the entire hallway seemed to pause for a second.

She was wearing a classic cream-colored dress that flowed gracefully as she walked, the fabric catching the studio lights in soft glints. Her long hair was left open, cascading in gentle waves down her back. The makeup was minimal, just enough to enhance her sharp features, subtle shimmer on her lids, soft tint on her lips, and a gentle glow on her cheeks.

She didn’t need anything more.

People turned. Crew members paused mid-task. Even a few extras whispered quietly as she passed by, their eyes following her like she was floating rather than walking.
