Chapter 329: Chapter 329 Fleeting time
After skating and laughing until their legs ached, both Lilith and Ray were starving.

They found a small, cozy café nearby, a warm little place tucked between snowy trees, with windows fogged from the heat inside and the scent of fresh bread and cinnamon drifting out into the cold air.

Ray immediately lit up when they stepped inside. “This place smells like heaven.”

Lilith smiled as they took a seat by the window. She ordered something warm—eggs, toast, a little fruit and Ray, of course, added pancakes, extra syrup, and hot chocolate topped with whipped cream.

As they ate, the warmth from the café settled into their bones. Ray kept talking, making jokes, stealing a bite of her toast, and pretending to be offended when she didn’t offer syrup in return. His eyes sparkled every time she laughed. He looked… happy.

But as the plates emptied and the morning sun climbed higher in the sky, something shifted in his face.

He grew quieter. His smile lingered, but it didn’t reach his eyes the same way.

Lilith noticed but said nothing. She only watched him, quietly letting him have his moment.

After breakfast, she drove him back toward the hotel.

Ray rested his head back against the seat, staring out the window, unusually quiet.

When she pulled up in front of the hotel, he still didn’t move.

She reached into the backseat and grabbed a small black bag, neatly packed, and placed it gently on his lap.

He blinked, confused. “What’s this?”

“Clothes For Gray,” Lilith said softly, looking ahead instead of at him.

Ray stared at the bag for a moment, fingers tightening around the handle.

Something in his chest twisted.

He looked at her, eyes filled with warmth and something a little sad.

Then, without a word, he leaned forward and hugged her tightly, his arms around her as if he didn’t want to let go.

“I love you, Miss Mystery,” he whispered near her neck. “I’ll go now… and give Gray his time.”

Lilith froze for a breath, then slowly wrapped her arms around him in return, her chin resting on his shoulder.

He pulled back and smiled but it wasn’t his usual cheeky grin. It was softer, more tired. Honest.

“Having multiple personalities sounds cool, huh?” he murmured. “But when you realize your time’s always divided… when you don’t know when you’ll wake up again… or how long you’ll get to exist out here…”

His voice faded, lips still curled in that bittersweet smile.

“It’s sad. To be honest.”

Lilith reached up, brushing his hair gently away from his forehead, her hand lingering against his cheek. “Ray…”

He smiled again… this time, for her.

“Tell Gray not to be so stiff, okay?” he said playfully, trying to lighten the air. “He needs your chaos.”

Then, after pressing a soft kiss to her cheek, he stepped out of the car, clutching the small bag close to his chest.

The snow crunched softly under his boots as he walked toward the hotel doors, his shoulders slightly hunched, like he was already fading into someone else.

Lilith watched him go, her hands still resting on the steering wheel.

She didn’t know when she’d see him again.

And somehow… that made her miss him all the more.

“You wanted to meet me?” a smooth voice echoed through the dim hallway.

The man stood tall, dark hair tousled, sharp jawline kissed by shadow, and eyes like polished obsidian. His black shirt clung to his frame, sleeves rolled up lazily, and that smirk on his face… it was the kind that promised chaos.

He looked eerily like Sienna. The same cruel curl to the lips, the same sharp eyes—except his were darker. Wilder.

“How are you, brother?” Sienna said with a mocking smile, her hands gripping the iron bars tightly. Her nails were perfect. Her tone was not.

“I’m fine, dear step-sister,” Kai Blake drawled. “No need to fake sweetness with me. Aww, did you miss me?”

Sienna’s lips twitched. “Oh wow, dear brother,” she cooed playfully before her expression turned cold. “You understand me better than anyone else.”

Her voice dipped, a bitter smile creeping onto her face as pain flashed in her eyes—pain that twisted into something uglier.

And as always, when that pain bubbled up, she cursed one name under her breath.

Lilith, that b*tch.

Kai let out a short laugh, tilting his head. “So. What do you want, Sienna? And more importantly… what’s in it for me?” His tongue dragged slowly across his bottom lip as his eyes flicked down, watching her like a bored cat with a cornered mouse.

“Oh, nothing big,” Sienna said airily. “I just want you to play with a woman.”

Kai raised an eyebrow.

“She’s gorgeous,” she added, though the word came through gritted teeth. She hated admitting it.

Kai scoffed. “I’ve seen better.”

“But not like her,” Sienna said smoothly, recovering her poise. “You know who was dating her? Sebastian.”

That made him pause.

He blinked slowly. Then smiled wider.

“Really?”

“Why would I lie to you?” she said, her voice sharp and sweet like poison in a crystal glass. “If you want proof, visit my bestie Leia.. I’m sure she’ll spill everything.”

Kai chuckled, his eyes gleaming with newfound interest. “Now that… is interesting.”

Sienna leaned forward, pressing her forehead lightly against the bars, her smile cruel. “Go ahead, brother. Have your fun.”

And both siblings smiled in perfect, terrible sync.

“Well,” Kai leaned casually against the cold bars, his smirk deepening, “tell me, sis… what exactly do you want me to do with her?”

His voice dripped with amusement, but his eyes were sharp, watching her every twitch, every flicker of emotion.

Sienna’s smile faded. A storm gathered behind her eyes..ugly, bitter, aching.

“Snatch her from Sebastian,” she said quietly at first, then louder, stronger. “Make her yours.”

She stepped closer to the bars, her hands curling into fists.

“I loved him,” she confessed, her voice cracking for just a moment. “But he always looked at me like I was filth. He never gave me the time of day… only disgust, only silence.”

Her lips twisted into a cold, furious smile.

“I want him to feel everything I did. The pain of watching someone you love… choose someone else. Laugh with them. Sleep beside them. Trust them. I want him to see her fall for you, crave you, give herself to you…”
