“Let’s talk in the lounge.” Her voice was cool and controlled as always, but there was something in her gaze that made Nina pause.

It wasn’t cold, yet it made Nina feel like Lilith could read her every thought.

Nina gave her a small smile and nodded in agreement, her curiosity piqued.

The two women made their way to the lounge, a quiet but elegant space furnished with soft chairs and low lighting.

Lilith took a seat gracefully, her posture perfect, and Nina followed suit, sitting across from her.

Lilith’s eyes locked onto Nina’s.

“Miss Nina,” she started, her voice smooth, “I trust you’re aware that you’ll need to be Mr.

Carter’s female companion for the upcoming business meeting.” As Lilith finished speaking, the staff entered and placed a tray with water and snacks on the coffee table.

“Please, have some snacks, Miss Nina,” Lilith said, her smile never faltering as she gestured toward the tray.

Nina, unsure of how to respond, took a glass of water and sipped it, still watching Lilith carefully.

She noticed the way Lilith seemed completely at ease in this setting, like she had been in control of the situation all along.

“So,” Lilith continued, her gaze strong, “what I’m saying is, you’ll receive your payment after the party.

All you have to do is accompany Mr.

Carter, and for your dress, you needn’t worry-we’ll arrange everything for you.

Is that all right?” Nina nodded, her lips curling into a smile, but she still couldn’t shake the feeling that Lilith was more than just a secretary.

There was something powerful about her-something she couldn’t quite put her finger on.

Lilith studied her for a moment, then tilted her head slightly.

“Is there something on my face, Miss Nina?” she asked smoothly, her tone now slightly teasing but still professional.

Nina blinked, caught off guard.

“No,” she replied, a little flustered.

“I was just wondering…

if you ever thought about entering the entertainment industry.

I’m planning to open my own studio.” Lilith’s lips curled into a soft, melodic laugh.

“No, thank you, Miss Nina,” she said politely, her smile warm but firm.

“But if I ever have plans in that direction, I’ll be sure to reach out to you.” Nina’s smile widened, though a glint of curiosity still lingered in her eyes as she observed Lilith.

There was something about her-a quiet confidence that made her feel like she was always ten steps ahead.

Nova and Ava were in the middle of what could only be described as a ridiculous “fight,” or at least, that’s what it seemed like.

Ava, with her small stature, was swinging her tiny fists at Nova’s stomach, but he barely flinched.

Nova, on the other hand, had his hands up defensively, trying to avoid her punches while laughing at the same time.

Lilith raised an eyebrow as she approached them, crossing her arms.

“What’s happening here?” she asked coolly, her gaze shifting between the two.

Ava immediately stopped, looking up at her with wide eyes.

“Lili!” she wailed dramatically, pointing at Nova.

“He said I’m shorter than the dwarfs in Snow White!” Lilith glanced down at Ava, noting her height.

She was indeed quite small, but that didn’t mean she deserved to be teased.

Despite knowing how short Ava was, Lilith felt a sudden need to lighten the mood.

“It’s fine!

You’re not that short,” Lilith said with a slight smile, watching as a genuine grin bloomed on Ava’s face.

Ava looked up at Lilith, her eyes sparkling.

I guess I’m not that short,” she replied, but then, with a mischievous glint in her eyes, she turned to Nova.

I heard I’m not that short, so don’t think you can just tease me!” Before Nova could respond, Ava’s hand shot up as she reached for the nearest stool, pulling it toward her with a swift motion.

Standing on it with a triumphant look, she flicked her finger right at Nova’s forehead, causing him to flinch.

Lilith raised an eyebrow, unsure of how to react to this sudden burst of confidence from Ava.

“…” Nova stood frozen for a moment, staring at her with wide eyes, his forehead now slightly reddened.

“…” Ava, feeling proud of herself, hopped off the stool and stood next to it, hands on her hips.

“Now who’s the short one?” she teased, her playful grin never leaving her face.

Lilith couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle, shaking her head.

“Well, I didn’t expect that,” she said with a smirk, watching as Nova rubbed his forehead.

“Let’s grab lunch,” Nova grumbled, clearly still feeling the sting of Ava’s flick, though she was too busy celebrating her small victory to care.

She did a little happy dance, completely unbothered by what others might think.

In her excitement, Ava leaned over and wrapped her arms around Lilith in a quick hug.

“You’re my favorite!” she chirped.

But suddenly, Ava felt a chill run down her spine as goosebumps prickled her skin.

She sensed a heavy, intense gaze from one direction.

Curious, she turned her head-and froze.

Standing across the hall was her boss, Sebastian, with his hands casually in his pockets, his gaze fixed on them.

His expression was calm, unreadable, but his eyes held a strange, dark intensity.

He watched them in silence, his eyes lingering on Lilith for just a moment longer before he turned and walked away.

Ava felt her cheeks flush as she gasped.

“Oh my god, oh my god!

Did boss just see me… doing my silly dance?

Is that why he looked at us like that?” She clutched Nova’s arm in a panic, eyes wide.

“And what was he even doing here?

Doesn’t he usually have fancy lunches delivered from the best restaurants in the city?” Nova just sighed, clearly amused at her overthinking.

“Relax, Ava,” he muttered, prying her hands off his arm.

“I’m sure he has better things to worry about than your dance moves.” Lilith, however, simply kept her calm smile, seemingly unbothered by Sebastian’s gaze.
