Chapter 36: Chapter 36 Disgusting little human Chapter 36: Chapter 36 Disgusting little human After office hours, Lilith made her way back to her apartment, expecting a quiet evening.
But as soon as she stepped into the hallway, her expression darkened.
There, leaning against her door with his head down like some movie hero, was Rayan.
His hands were stuffed in his pockets, and with the soft, golden glow of the setting sun casting over him, he looked like he’d stepped straight out of a romantic scene.
Hearing her footsteps, Rayan raised his head, his eyes meeting hers.
The evening light highlighted his features, making him appear undeniably handsome, every bit like a character from a movie poster.
But Lilith’s heart didn’t skip a beat.
To her, no matter how striking Rayan looked, he didn’t come close to the image she held in her mind-the perfect, powerful features of her human doll.
“What are you doing here?” Lilith asked, her tone sharp and laced with irritation.
Just seeing him soured her mood.
“Lili…” he muttered softly, stepping closer, his gaze scanning her as if trying to figure out a puzzle.
He couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
She looked polished, professional-almost… successful.
But wasn’t she the same “useless” Lilith he’d always known, relying on her talented Lia, to handle the freelancing jobs?
He took a deep breath, collecting himself as he whispered again, “Lili…” “Stop calling me that; my ears are bleeding,” Lilith shot back, her voice dripping with disgust.
She looked at him with a cold, detached expression that clearly said his presence was the last thing she wanted to deal with.
“I’m sorry, Lili,” he said, his voice low and husky, as if he was finally ready to be sincere.
“I know I put you through a lot, ignored you when I shouldn’t have.
But I’m here now, and I won’t make the same mistake again.
Just… give me one more chance.
I swear, I’ll make you the happiest woman on this planet.” Lilith’s gaze didn’t soften, though.
She crossed her arms, letting the silence linger.
“Second chance?” Lilith echoed, a mocking smile tugging at her lips.
“After I saw you and my so-called friend in bed together?
You really think I’d ever forget that?” She laughed coldly, each word dripping with contempt.
“Now, move aside before I have to make you.” But before she could step past, he grabbed her, pulling her into a tight hug from behind.
“I’m sorry, Lilith,” he whispered desperately.
“I know I messed up, but I love you.
I can’t live without you… please.” His grip tightened as he leaned in, his lips dangerously close to her neck.
Without a second thought, Lilith drove her heel sharply into his stomach.

He stumbled back, pain and shock written across his face as he doubled over.
She turned to him, her eyes colder than ice.
“Don’t ever touch me again,” she said, her voice low and cutting.
“I’m done with you.” Lilith wanted to clear things up once and for all, but the very thought of this “little, disgusting human” made her skin crawl.
His presence alone was irritating, and she had no patience left.
With a firm, icy tone, she said, “I’m ending whatever we had, Rayan.
You’re no longer my fiancé.
So, before you even think about approaching me again, take a good look at the pathetic man you’ve are.
And be careful… because I can do things you can’t even begin to imagine.” Her aura darkened, her presence suddenly so intense that the air around them seemed to chill.
Rayan shivered, feeling goosebumps rise along his arms as he gulped, unable to hold her piercing gaze.
The realization dawned on him: this wasn’t the same woman he’d tried to manipulate before-she was someone much stronger, and far beyond his control.
“Lilith…” Rayan’s voice cracked as he saw her open the apartment door.
Desperation flashed across his face-she was slipping away, and he couldn’t stand it.
His mind raced, and in a moment of crazed determination, he blurted, “Lilith, I love you…
so much.
Please, just give me one more chance.
I swear, I broke it off with Lia.
I only want you.” His voice dropped, low and pleading, as if he thought it would somehow reach her.
But Lilith paused just for a second, her hand resting on the door, then turned her gaze to him.
Her eyes held nothing but disdain, as if his words were as worthless to her as dust.
“Rayan,” she said, voice cool and sharp.
“Love?
You wouldn’t know what love is if it stared you in the face.
And I’m done with you.” Without waiting for his reply, she shut the door firmly, leaving him outside, clutching onto whatever fragments of pride he had left.
He stood there, stunned, unable to move, realizing that the Lilith he once thought he knew had changed beyond recognition.
After Lilith closed the door, Rayan stood there, his face twisting in a dark expression.
His jaw clenched tightly as he squeezed his eyes shut.
His pride, his respect, everything he had built up in his mind came crashing down with a single sentence from her.
She had made him feel insignificant, like nothing more than a shadow in her life.
The anger bubbled inside him, but there was something else too-a gnawing sense of humiliation he couldn’t shake off.
He swore under his breath, a vow to make her regret this.
He would make her feel the weight of what she’d done to him, but for now, he had to bear her tantrums.
He needed the benefits she could bring.
But deep down, he knew the truth.
He didn’t care for her the way she might think.
In fact, he preferred Lia.
She had never made him feel small or weak.
Lia always seemed to know exactly how to lift his spirits, how to keep him happy.
She never pushed him to his limits like Lilith did.
It was easier with Lia.
But for now, Lilith was the key to everything he wanted.
And he would wait, bide his time, until he could manipulate her in ways she couldn’t even imagine.
