Devilish secretary - Chapter 45
Chapter 45: Chapter 45 Odd behaviour Chapter 45: Chapter 45 Odd behaviour “Alright, what’s the rule, then?” she asked, but there was a faint lack of interest in her voice.
Sebastian’s tone hardened, and he didn’t hesitate to deliver the rule.
“Female secretaries shouldn’t talk to any males,” he said, his words laced with an unspoken, possessive implication, though he didn’t fully realize it himself.
Lilith blinked for a moment, and then suddenly, she burst into laughter, the sound sharp and unapologetic.
“Hahaha!
Sorry, sir, but you’re quite funny,” she said, shaking her head with a teasing grin.
“I’m leaving now.” But Sebastian was far from amused.
His expression darkened, and he stepped closer to her, his voice turning even colder.
“I’m serious, Miss Lilith,” he said, his gaze now intense.
Lilith shook her head, a soft chuckle escaping her lips.
Her laughter was light and unrestrained, and Sebastian’s sharp gaze softened slightly as he observed her.
The way her long lashes fluttered as she laughed, and the curve of her lips that seemed to hold a certain magic, caught his attention in a way he wasn’t prepared for.
“Don’t tell me…
are you jealous, sir?” Lilith teased, her voice laced with amusement.
‘This human doll is cute sometimes,’ she added under her breath.
Sebastian remained silent, his gray eyes fixed on her.
His expression didn’t change, but the way his jaw tightened.
Lilith raised an eyebrow, the teasing glint in her eyes growing.
‘No way,’ she mused in her mind.
‘Don’t tell me this human doll is actually jealous.’ But why?
For a moment, there was nothing but the sound of the faint ticking of the clock in the background.
Sebastian didn’t deny or confirm her accusation, but the way his gaze lingered on her was telling.
His eyes bore into hers, and she could see something unreadable flickering in them.
Her own amusement faltered slightly as she noticed his light pink lips purse in what seemed to be dissatisfaction.
He looked…
unhappy.
The tension between them grew heavier as Sebastian finally spoke, his voice quieter but no less intense.
“You shouldn’t assume things so carelessly, Miss Lilith,” he said, though his gaze betrayed him.
Lilith smirked, leaning just slightly forward, her confidence unwavering.
“Oh, I don’t assume,” she said lightly.

“I observe.
And right now, you look just about ready to prove me right, sir.” Sebastian’s lips twitched, the faintest hint of a smile threatening to appear, but he suppressed it, turning his gaze away.
Yet, even as he did, he couldn’t quite hide the faint color that rose to his ears.
However, a sudden knock at the door interrupted the atmosphere.
Sebastian immediately stepped back, putting a safe distance between himself and Lilith.
Clearing his throat, he turned towards the door.
“Come in,” he said in a calm, controlled voice, though the tension in the room still lingered.
The door opened, and Assistant Quinn walked in, holding a tablet and some files.
“Sir, we have to leave.
There’s a meeting with our important business partner,” he informed, his tone professional but hurried.
Lilith straightened, suddenly remembering the schedule she had meticulously prepared.
She gave a slight nod to herself as the details came to mind.
Sebastian adjusted his cuffs with a practiced elegance, glancing at Lilith briefly before walking towards the door.
His movements were precise, his long strides commanding attention as he stepped out of the office.
Lilith followed behind, her heels clicking softly on the floor as she kept up with him.
She was about to follow him to the elevator when Sebastian suddenly turned and said, “Stay here,” his voice firm.
Without waiting for her response, he walked out quickly, followed by Assistant Quinn.
Lilith stood there for a moment, slightly taken aback by his abruptness, but she quickly regained her composure and turned toward her desk.
She sat down and dove straight into her work.
After the office hours were done, she grabbed her things and headed out.
Nova and Ava dropped her off, and on the way, she couldn’t help but check her phone.
As she scrolled through her feed, she noticed that Rayan’s news had taken a drop-the views were dropping, and the reactions were growing colder by the minute.
After waving goodbye to Nova and Ava, she headed back to her apartment.
She changed into comfortable clothes, relishing the feeling of relaxation that came with being home.
Sinking into the living room sofa, she faced the window, her mind deep in thought.
As she sat there, she felt the current of energy flowing through her.
It was a deep warmth, spreading through her like liquid light, soothing every muscle, every inch of her being.
The exhaustion of the day seemed to melt away, leaving her in a state of pure comfort.
She closed her eyes for a moment, allowing herself to bask in the tranquility.
When she opened her eyes again, there was a meaningful expression on her face.
She couldn’t ignore the power within her-an energy that felt like it could calm anyone, like a soothing balm for the soul.
Was it useful?
Or was it simply a useless?
*** On the other hand, Sebastian’s parents, Ana and Alan Carter, sat on their bed, their faces clouded with concern as they discussed their daughter’s recent odd behavior.
“Oh my god, what’s happening to our daughter, Alan?” Ana’s voice trembled with panic.
She clutched her husband’s arm tightly, her eyes welling up with tears.
“I think we need to move to the other mansion.
Grandma… she’s been constantly comparing Rose to that Sienna, and it’s tearing her apart.
Our little Rose’s self-esteem is being crushed!
She’s becoming so unstable, and now…
she’s even started sleeping with a skeleton!” Alan, usually calm and collected, looked stunned.
“A skeleton?” he repeated, his brow furrowing.
“But she used to sleep with that brown teddy bear with Pink bow… What happened to her?” Ana’s voice quivered as she recalled what she had seen last night-her daughter sleeping with a skeleton.
She still didn’t understand how Rose had gotten it.
“She’s completely different now, Alan!
I can’t bear to see her like this.
I don’t know how to help her anymore.
It’s all the constant pressure from Grandma.
We need to do something before it gets worse.
My sweet Rose is only twelve…”
