Devilish secretary - Chapter 52
Chapter 52: Chapter 52 Engagement Chapter 52: Chapter 52 Engagement It wasn’t the first time ray had caused chaos in his life, but this…
this was on a whole different level.
How was he supposed to face her now, knowing he had crossed a boundary she might not even be aware of yet?
Sebastian got ready quickly, He slipped into a crisp black suit, his tie perfectly knotted, and glanced at his reflection in the mirror.
His face was as Cold as ever, but a flicker of frustration lingered in his eyes.
With a final look back at Lilith, still peacefully asleep, he left the room, ensuring the door clicked shut softly behind him.
As he stepped into the empty corridor, his polished shoes echoed faintly against the tiled floor.
He pressed the elevator button and waited, the soft hum of the descending lift filling the silence.
When the elevator doors slid open, he stepped in, his hands slipping into his pockets.
The faint buzz of his thoughts was interrupted only by the soft ding announcing his arrival on the ground floor.
Stepping out into the lobby, Sebastian’s sharp gaze swept across the bar area.
The once-lively space was now quiet, save for a few men lingering around the counter, their laughter low and conversations scattered.
His presence alone seemed to silence the room.
The men straightened slightly, avoiding his gaze as if sensing the icy authority radiating off him.
Sebastian paid them no mind, his focus elsewhere.
He reached for his phone, dialing a number swiftly.
“Take care of her, and bring my suitcase to my personal apartment.” he ordered, his voice clipped and firm, before hanging up without further explanation.
As he pushed open the heavy glass doors, the fresh morning air greeted him.
The sunlight bathed the empty parking lot in a golden glow, and he spotted his car parked neatly in its spot.
His stride was purposeful as he approached the sleek black vehicle.
Sliding into the driver’s seat, he shut the door with a soft thud.
Leaning back against the cool leather, he closed his eyes for a moment, exhaling deeply.
The golden rays of the morning sun poured through the windshield, highlighting every perfect feature of his face.
The sunlight kissed his flawless skin, accentuating the sharp angles of his jawline and the gentle curve of his cheekbones.
His long, dark lashes cast delicate shadows, framing his closed eyes, while his perfectly sculpted lips, slightly parted in thought, seemed even more tempting under the golden hue.
Sebastian opened his eyes slowly, his gaze sharp and calculating.
His fingers drummed lightly on the steering wheel as a bitter thought crossed his mind.
Damn it, Ray.
*** Lilith woke up to the soft light streaming in through the curtains.
Her piercing blue eyes blinked open slowly as she stretched lazily on the bed.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
Noticing the absence of her boss, she wasn’t alarmed.
Figures, she thought with a smirk.
He must have left already.
Her gaze wandered to the connecting door leading to the room next to hers.
She got up and walked over, her steps light and unhurried.
Turning the knob, she pushed the door open and stepped into the adjacent room.
What greeted her was a scene straight out of a sitcom.
Ava and Nova were sitting on the bed, staring at each other with wide, horrified eyes.
“Did we sleep with each other?” they shouted simultaneously, their voices overlapping in a perfect mix of shock and disbelief.
Lilith raised an eyebrow, leaning casually against the doorframe, thoroughly entertained.
“Eww!
Do I have to take responsibility for you now?” Nova groaned, running a hand through his disheveled hair, his expression a mix of exasperation and fake despair.
“I guess I have no choice but to marry you.
You might even be carrying my baby!” “For the baby, I’m ready to marry you!” Ava shot back dramatically, rubbing her stomach in concern.
She glanced down at her flat belly and cooed, “Momma loves you.
For you, I’m ready to marry this dumbo.” Lilith couldn’t contain her laughter anymore.
A rich, amused chuckle escaped her lips, drawing the attention of the bickering duo.
They froze, turning toward her like deer caught in headlights.
“Well,” Lilith said, folding her arms and giving them an amused look.
“If you two are done planning your imaginary family, maybe you’d like to explain what actually happened last night?” Nova flushed a deep red, while Ava awkwardly scratched her head.
“Uh, Lilith, it’s not what it looks like!” “Oh?” Lilith teased, her sly smile growing wider as she watched the two squirm.
Both Ava and Nova turned toward her, their expressions a mix of annoyance and embarrassment.
“Don’t tease us, Lilith!
You’re going to be the godmother of our child soon,” Ava snapped, glaring at her indignantly, while Nova nodded in exaggerated agreement.
Lilith raised an eyebrow, her piercing gaze playful as she folded her arms.
“Oh really?
And when exactly did this supposed baby appear?” she asked, her smirk deepening as her eyes gleamed with amusement.
Both Ava and Nova flushed a deep shade of red, stammering incoherently.
“Lilith…
li…” Ava muttered, suddenly shy and unable to meet her gaze.
“Relax,” Lilith said with a chuckle, waving a hand dismissively.
“Nothing happened between you two.
Stop cooking up stories in those tiny brains of yours and get ready already.
We’ve got things to do.” Both Ava and Nova sighed heavily, standing up with synchronized glares directed at each other.
Despite their bickering, they moved to get ready, each muttering under their breath about the other.
Since they didn’t have spare clothes, they had no choice but to wear the wrinkled outfits from yesterday.
Lilith, on the other hand, confidently slipped into the new clothes she was certain had been sent by the “human doll”, The outfit was stylish, comfortable, and unmistakably expensive.
Once they were ready, Nova offered to drop Lilith home.
Sitting in the car, Lilith leaned back and gazed out the window, lost in thought as the city streets blurred past.
When they arrived, she waved Ava and Nova goodbye with a small smile.
“Try not to kill each other before the next time we meet,” she teased lightly, making them roll their eyes before driving off.
Lilith stepped into her apartment, closing the door behind her and letting out a soft sigh of relief.
Tossing her purse onto the sofa, she headed straight to her room.
Her eyes softened the moment they landed on her buddy.
“I missed you,” Lilith whispered with a warm smile, sitting on the edge of the bed and gently stroking her skeleton’s arm.
The coolness of the bones gave her a strange sense of comfort.
She lay down on the bed with a soft sigh.
“That was a long night…” she muttered to herself, eyes fluttering shut for a moment as she relaxed into the softness of the sheets.
“But what am I going to do this weekend?” she mused aloud, frustration creeping into her voice.
She had no plans, no one to meet, and nothing exciting on the horizon.
It felt like she was stuck in a loop.
Sigh.
Then, just as if fate was listening to her frustrations, her phone rang.
It was Mrs.
Brooks, Rayan’s mother.
Lilith picked up the phone, her boredom outweighing her reluctance.
“Hello…” she answered.
“My dear,” came the sickly-sweet voice of Mrs.
Brooks, all false warmth and forced kindness.
Lilith rolled her eyes.
“Mrs.
Brooks, you might already know that your son and I have already broken up,” she said flatly, not giving the woman a chance to sugarcoat the conversation.
Hearing her words, Mrs.
Brooks on the other side fell silent, and after a while, she finally spoke, her voice trembling.
“I know you must be angry after what my son did…
but believe me, it’s that Lia who filled his ears with lies because she’s jealous of you,” she said, her tone laced with desperation.
“Rayan didn’t even want to help her.
It’s just…
he misunderstood you, Lilith.
That’s the only reason he got involved with her.” Her voice cracked, and then came the sound of soft crying.
“He regrets it now…
truly, my dear.
He was wrong, and he knows it…” Lilith listened in silence, her expression unreadable.
Her fingers lightly drummed on the bed as she stared at the ceiling.
“Finished?” Lilith asked calmly after Mrs.
Brooks finished her emotional rant.
There was a sniffle on the other end before Mrs.
Brooks continued, her tone wavering but determined.
“Sniff…
my dear, my dear Lilith, it’s Rayan who wronged you.
Are you really going to forget about your dear aunty?” she cried, her voice filled with faux sadness.
Lilith’s eyes narrowed slightly, sensing where this was going, but she stayed quiet, letting Mrs.
Brooks speak.
“But don’t worry, my lovely Lilith,” Mrs.
Brooks continued with a sudden shift to a sugary tone.
“I know you love my Rayan; that’s why I’ve taken care of everything for you.
I’ve arranged your engagement to Rayan today at 7 PM!” Lilith froze, her lips twitching slightly as she processed the words.
Mrs.
Brooks didn’t stop.
“Don’t worry, dear.
Rayan can’t say no.
I’ve called the media, invited important guests, and prepared everything.
There’s no backing out now.” Her voice carried a triumphant edge, as if she had outsmarted Lilith.
But Lilith’s calm, icy smile began to spread across her face, her piercing blue eyes glinting with amusement and something far more dangerous.
