Devilish secretary - Chapter 61
Chapter 61: Chapter 61 Unexpected Guest Chapter 61: Chapter 61 Unexpected Guest “My buddy is not even scary,” Lilith said with a soft smile, her fingers gently brushing over the skeleton’s arm like she was reassuring a pet.
Ava blinked, hesitantly looking at the skeleton again.
Something about Lilith’s calm expression made it seem…
almost normal.
She nodded slowly.
“Okay…” she mumbled, though her voice wasn’t entirely convincing.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang, breaking the deadly silence in the room.
Nova jumped as if he had been electrocuted, quickly breaking the awkward hug with Ava.
“I-I’ll see who it is!” he stammered, eager to escape the presence of Lilith’s ‘buddy.’ He hurried to the door, his nerves still rattled.
As he opened the door, his eyes widened, and his jaw practically hit the floor.
Standing there, tall and handsome, was none other than Sebastian Alexander Carter.
Sebastian’s jaw was clenched, his dark eyes sharp and stormy as they swept over Nova like a predator sizing up its prey.
His hair, slightly tousled from the wind, added a rugged charm to his appearance.
His perfectly tailored suit hugged his muscular frame, and the way his hands flexed at his sides betrayed the barely restrained anger coursing through him.
His gaze darted past Nova, taking in the interior of Lilith’s apartment.
The sight of another man answering her door seemed to strike a nerve he hadn’t realized he had.
His fists clenched at his sides, the veins on his hands visible as his cantrolled his emotions.
“B-Boss?” Nova stammered, his voice high-pitched with shock as he stepped back instinctively.
He hadn’t expected to come face-to-face with his BOSS, let alone in Lilith’s apartment.
Sebastian’s eyes darkened further, his sharp features turning even more intimidating.
His voice came out low, hard, and dangerously deep, reverberating through the doorway.
“What are you doing in Lili’s home?” he asked, his tone laced with an edge that could cut through steel.
Nova froze like a deer in headlights, his brain scrambling to form a coherent response.
But before he could, Sebastian took a step closer, the subtle roll of his shoulders making his presence even more dangerous.
His gaze was intense, and there was an undeniable possessiveness in the way he spoke her name.
The way he said it, as though he owned the very sound of it, made Nova’s heart skip a beat.
“L-Lili?” Nova stammered, blinking rapidly as he tried to process what was happening.
His mind raced.
Did his boss just call Lilith ‘Lili’?
And why did he look like he was ready to punch someone?

Sebastian didn’t move, his eyes locked onto Nova with an intensity that could rival a storm.
The silence stretched, thick and suffocating, until Nova finally found his voice.
“I-I’m her friend,” he managed to squeak out, holding his hands up defensively.
“We were just-um-hanging out!
With Ava too!
Ava’s here!” Sebastian’s gaze flicked behind Nova briefly, scanning the apartment as if to confirm his story.
His jaw tightened further, and his lips pressed into a thin line.
“Move,” he ordered coldly, his voice dropping an octave, making it clear he wasn’t asking.
Nova, feeling both relieved and terrified, immediately stepped aside.
“Y-Yes, boss!” he said, practically stumbling out of the way.
“Who is here?” Lilith asked, stepping out of her room with a hesitant Ava peeking out from behind her.
Sebastian’s tense aura seemed to dissipate slightly when he saw they weren’t entirely alone.
His dark, piercing eyes softened just a fraction as they landed on Lilith, but his expression remained serious.
“Sir?” Lilith raised an eyebrow, her tone calm but questioning as she crossed her arms.
“What are you doing here at this hour?” She looked at him suspiciously, her piercing blue eyes studying her human doll every move.
Before he could answer, a voice interrupted from behind him.
“Ah, brother!
Can’t you wait for me?
I don’t have long legs like you!” Rose huffed as she appeared at the doorway, looking irritated but quickly brightened when her gaze landed on Lilith.
Her eyes lit up like a child’s on Christmas morning.
“Sister!” she exclaimed, brushing past Sebastian without a second thought.
Her face broke into an excited smile as she ran into the apartment.
Sebastian sighed deeply, his expression shifting into something closer to resignation.
“Rose…” he said, his tone firm but not unkind.
Rose, completely ignoring her brother’s sharp tone, walked straight up to Lilith with an emotional expression on her face.
Her eyes were slightly teary, and her voice was shaky yet sincere as she said, “Sister, I came here to say sorry to you.
I was scared when I saw your buddy, but now I understand how cute he is.
You kept him to make your fear go away, right?” She sniffled slightly, her emotions spilling over as she unexpectedly hugged Lilith tightly.
Lilith froze, completely unprepared for the sudden affection.
The small, warm body clinging to her felt foreign but oddly comforting.
Slowly, she lifted her hand and patted Rose’s back awkwardly.
“It’s… okay,” she said softly, her voice carrying a rare warmth.
Nova and Ava, who had been watching the entire scene, stood frozen, their jaws nearly hitting the floor.
Their widened eyes shifted between Rose and Lilith.
Ava blinked rapidly before whispering to Nova, “I feel like the worst person alive right now.” “Same,” Nova mumbled, his voice filled with guilt.
He scratched the back of his head.
“We totally misunderstood Lilith.
She’s not creepy at all.” Ava nodded, her voice a little louder this time.
“She even kept that skeleton buddy for emotional support… and here we were, judging her!” Lilith, overhearing their whispered exchange, raised brows slightly but didn’t say anything.
Instead, she continued to awkwardly pat Rose’s back as the younger girl sniffled against her shoulder.
Sebastian, who had been standing silently watched the scene unfold with an unreadable expression.
Finally, Rose pulled back slightly, her teary eyes looking up at Lilith with genuine admiration.
“You’re so strong, sister,” she said, her voice filled with sincerity.
“I really want to be like you someday.” Lilith raised an eyebrow at the declaration, but there was a faint, almost invisible smile on her lips.
“You’re already stronger than you think, Little girl,” she said, her voice calm but firm.
“Really?” Rose’s eyes lit up like stars, and Lilith nodded her head with a calm smile.
“Rose, you finally met her.
Now we should go,” Sebastian interjected, his tone firm but not harsh.
Rose immediately pouted, her lips trembling slightly as she clung to Lilith’s arm.
“Nooooo,” she whined.
“Sister, I want to stay with you!” Lilith glanced at her, her piercing blue eyes softening slightly at Rose’s adorably pleading expression.
She sighed inwardly, already knowing she couldn’t say no to the adorable little girl.
“If you want,” Lilith said casually, “you can come with us to watch a movie.” The moment the words left her mouth, Rose’s entire demeanor changed.
Her face lit up like a child on Christmas morning, and she practically jumped in excitement.
“Yay!!!
Movie!
I want to watch movies!” she squealed, clapping her hands.
Then, turning to Sebastian, she said, “Brother, you go back and pick me up later!
Anyway, you’re always busy, so I won’t disturb you.” Sebastian’s jaw tightened slightly as he looked at his little sister, who was practically bouncing with joy.
His dark, sharp eyes shifted to Lilith, his expression unreadable.
“Rose-” “Nope!” Rose interrupted him, crossing her arms stubbornly.
“I’m staying with Sister Lilith.
She invited me to watch a movie with her, and I can’t say no!” Nova and Ava, who had been watching the scene unfold like an entertaining drama, couldn’t help but chuckle.
Ava leaned toward Nova and whispered, “Looks like Lilith’s got a little admirer.” Nova nodded, a teasing grin on his face.
“And the boss doesn’t seem too happy about it.” Sebastian gave them both a warning glance before turning his attention back to Lilith and Rose.
His face was calm, but there was an unmistakable tension in his posture.
“Miss Lilith,” he said, his voice low, “Are you sure?
Rose can be… a handful.” Lilith smirked slightly, her eyes glinting with a mix of amusement and challenge.
“I think I can handle her,” she said confidently.
“She’s welcome to join us.” Rose let out another excited cheer, grabbing Lilith’s hand and swinging it happily.
“Yay!
Sister Lilith, you’re the best!
Let’s go, let’s go!” she urged.
“Wait!
I can’t let you go alone.
I’m coming too,” Sebastian said in his deep as he adjusted the cuffs of his suit.
Lilith’s lips curled into a sly smile, her piercing blue eyes glinting with amusement.
“Of course, sir,” she replied smoothly.
Meanwhile, Ava and Nova’s jaws practically hit the floor.
“Did he just say he’s coming?” Ava whispered to Nova, who nodded in stunned silence.
“Am I dreaming?
I’m actually going to watch a movie with my boss,” Nova muttered under his breath, rubbing his eyes dramatically.
Rose, on the other hand, was completely flabbergasted.
Her eyes widened in pure shock as she stared at her brother.
“Wait… what Brother?” she stammered.
“You’re coming to watch a movie?
You never watch movies, not even when we all begged you during family gatherings!
You said it was a waste of time!”
