Chapter 66: Chapter 66 What was that?
Lilith had already mailed him his schedule and gathered the files he requested.
Knocking on his office door, she waited for his familiar voice.
“Yes,” came Sebastian’s cold, clipped reply.
She walked in, her eyes immediately drawn to his face.
The tension in his jaw was evident, and the veins on his temple were visible.
His lips were pressed into a thin line, and his usually sharp eyes looked dull and tried.
He seemed far from his usual composed self.
Lilith hesitated for a second but then stepped closer to him, her heels clicking softly against the floor.
“Sir, these are the files you asked for,” she said calmly.
Sebastian nodded wordlessly and reached for them, his movements slower than usual.
But as Lilith handed him the files, she noticed his hand tremble slightly.
She bit her lip, a rare flicker of concern crossing her face.
This isn’t like him at all, she thought.
As she handed the files to him, she purposefully loosened her grip slightly.
The papers slipped from her hand, and in her reflex to catch them, she fumbled.
It happened in an instant.
Sebastian’s strong arms instinctively wrapped around her waist, pulling her firmly into his lap before the papers could even hit the ground.
Lilith’s breath hitched as the unexpected closeness sent a jolt through her.
His grip was firm but not forceful, his touch surprisingly warm.
Her hands instinctively landed on his shoulders to steady herself.
And then, without thinking, she pressed her palms gently against him, transferring the soothing energy flowing through her body.
Warmth began to radiate from her, seeping into him like a gentle wave, chasing away the tension that gripped his muscles.
Sebastian’s eyes fluttered shut as he exhaled deeply, the tight lines on his face softening.
His entire body relaxed under her touch, and the rigid tension in his shoulders melted away.
Lilith tilted her head slightly, her piercing blue eyes studying him.
“Sir,” she whispered, her voice almost hesitant.
She turned her face toward him, their proximity so close that she could see the faint shadow of stubble on his jaw.
His face was serene, his usual sharp and angry expression replaced by something softer.

Her fingers brushed his hands lightly, and he didn’t flinch.
He looked… peaceful, as if the storm in his mind had finally quieted.
Sebastian opened his eyes slowly, his gaze locking with hers.
For a moment, they just stared at each other, her warm energy still radiating through him.
His deep voice broke the silence, low and gravelly.
“What are you doing, Miss Lilith?” he asked, his eyes still closed but his tone oddly calm.
Lilith blinked and pulled her hands back slightly, realizing the intensity of their closeness.
She stood abruptly, straightening her dress.
“The files, sir.
I’ll… leave them here.” He watched her, his gaze unreadable as she stepped away from him, his warmth still lingering where her hands had touched him.
As she turned to leave, he leaned back in his chair, his eyes following her retreating form.
What was that?
he thought to himself, still feeling the comforting warmth running through his body.
Whatever it was, it was unlike anything he had ever felt before.
So good and warm.
Lilith, sitting at her desk, found it increasingly difficult to concentrate.
Her mind kept replaying the moment she’d been in Sebastian’s lap, the warmth of his arms around her, and the way his dark eyes had softened as he looked at her.
Why is my heart beating so fast?
she wondered, pressing a hand to her chest as if that would steady it.
She shook her head, trying to refocus on her work, but the memory was persistent.

Ava was happily munching on her food, while Nova was scrolling through his phone.
Lilith, however, pushed her food around absentmindedly.
“Lilith,” Ava called, noticing her distraction.
“What’s wrong?
You’ve been staring at your plate for five minutes now.” “Nothing,” Lilith replied quickly, straightening up and trying to shake the dazed look from her face.
Nova smirked as he leaned forward.
“Oh really?
Then why does it look like you’re daydreaming about someone?” he teased.
His eyes sparkled mischievously.
“Wait… don’t tell me.
Is it-our scary boss?” “Stop it!” Lilith said firmly, glaring at Ava and Nova.
Ava smirked, wiggling her eyebrows mischievously.
“Oh, so you’re feeling shy, huh?
Look at that blush!” Lilith sighed, rolling her eyes.
“Stop it!
He isn’t that scary,” she said again.
Both Ava and Nova exchanged a glance, their expressions turning into exaggerated stinky faces.
“You and your habit of talking half things,” Ava muttered under her breath, stabbing her fork into her food.
Nova chuckled, leaning back in his seat.
“Seriously, Lilith, you leave us hanging every time.
Give us something to work with, will you?” Lilith smirked but didn’t reply.
Ava and Nova exchanged a quick, meaningful glance before leaning closer to Lilith, their voices dropping to a whisper.
“Don’t tell us, Lilith… you like the boss,” Ava asked cautiously, her tone brimming with curiosity and mischief.
Lilith stayed silent, her expression unreadable as she sipped her water.
Nova’s eyes widened, and he pointed at her with his fork.
“We’ll take that as a yes!” Ava gasped dramatically, clapping her hands together.
“Oh my god, this is crazy!
Lilith and the boss-this is like something out of a romantic drama!
I’m already imagining the office gossip!” Nova, who had initially been shocked, now looked relieved.
“Honestly?
I’m happy for you.
At least you don’t like that scum Rayan anymore!
Good riddance to bad trash.” “Yes, yes!” Ava chimed in excitedly.
“Let’s show that scum Rayan exactly what he lost–a gem!” She grinned, imagining the perfect scenario of revenge.
“Stop running your small brains, kids,” Lilith chuckled, her piercing blue eyes gleaming with amusement.
She leaned back slightly, crossing her arms as she observed the two with a faint smirk.
“You both should worry about each other, not me,” she added, her tone filled with subtle meaning.
