- Chapter 84 - Chapter 84 Chapter 84 Lilith won€™t last long
Chapter 84: Chapter 84 Lilith won€™t last long Chapter 84: Chapter 84 Lilith won€™t last long Rumors spread through the office like wildfire.
By the afternoon, nearly everyone had heard whispers about Sebastian and Lilith.
“I still can’t believe he sat with her at lunch,” one whispered, leaning closer to her coworker.
“Right?
And the way he looked at her… it’s like they were flirting or something.” “Boss?
Flirting?
No way.” “I’m telling you, he was!
And did you see how she smirked at him?
There’s definitely something going on.” Lilith, however, remained blissfully unaware of the gossip around her.
She sat at her desk, scrolling through emails when her phone buzzed with a message.
Nina: I hope you haven’t forgotten about our meeting after office hours… Lilith blinked at the message for a moment, realizing she had almost forgotten.
Lilith: I remember.
What time?
A response came almost immediately.
Nina: 6 PM.
I’ll send you the location soon.
Lilith sighed softly, leaning back in her chair.
Whatever Nina wanted to discuss, it seemed important.
Ding!
She heard the notification from her phone again.
She glanced at her phone, reading over the message from Nina.
The address had finally come through.
It’s nearby.
She placed her phone down and continued wrapping up the rest of her work.
As she stood to leave, she couldn’t help but notice the lingering stares following her every movement.
Each time she passed by, subtle whispers filled the air.
The moment her gaze met theirs, the room would fall silent, and eyes darted away quickly as if caught doing something forbidden.
Her expression cooled instantly.
Her heels clicked sharply against the floor, and that sound alone was enough to make a few heads lower.
They’re relentless today.

Finishing up, Lilith grabbed her bag and headed for the exit.
She had already told Nova and Ava not to wait for her.
The evening air greeted her as she stepped out into the fading sunlight, but before she could make it far, a familiar voice called from behind.
“Miss Lilith.” She slowed to a stop and turned, eyes narrowing slightly as Sebastian approached.
His suit, as always, was tailored perfectly to his frame.
He met her gaze calmly, his hands slipping into his pockets as he closed the distance between them.
“Are you alone?” His voice was low and husky.
Lilith tilted her head slightly.
“Yes, I am.” Sebastian nodded once, eyes flicking briefly to the empty lot around them.
“Shall I drop you off?” he asked, his gaze settling on her again, unreadable as ever.
Lilith arched a brow, the faint smirk still appear on her lips.
“No thanks, sir.
I’m meeting with someone.” His gaze flickered, but he said nothing.
“Sorry, sir.
I’m getting late.
I should get going,” she added, turning to walk away.
However- Before she could take another step, his hand wrapped around her wrist, firm but careful.
His grip was warm, rough against her skin, yet he held her as if he was barely restraining himself.
Sebastian’s voice dipped lower, tightening with quiet authority.
“Tell me where, and I’ll drop you.” Lilith rolled her eyes, sighing softly as she met his gaze.
He wasn’t going to let this go.
“Fine.
Drop me at Angel Café,” she finally relented, watching his brows pull together in a subtle frown.
Sebastian didn’t say anything, but the faint crease between his brows lingered as he let go of her wrist and walked toward his black, luxurious car parked nearby.
The soft hum of the engine filled the air as he lowered the window, his eyes finding hers again.
“Have a seat, Miss Lilith.” Lilith’s gaze lingered on him for a moment before she stepped over and slipped into the passenger seat.
The faint scent of leather and something distinctly him filled the car, making it almost too easy to settle in.
Sebastian didn’t waste time, smoothly pulling out of the lot as the city lights flickered across the windshield.
As they drove, Lilith’s eyes drifted to his hands resting on the steering wheel strong, big, and effortlessly in control.
There was something oddly hot about the way his fingers gripped the wheel, his thumb tapping lightly against it as if lost in thought.
She shouldn’t have been paying attention to that… but she was.
Sebastian noticed her glance, but he said nothing, his focus remaining on the road ahead.
“Meeting someone important?” he finally asked, his tone neutral but filed with curiosity.
Lilith rested her elbow against the window, gazing lazily at the streets passing by.
“Hmm…” she hummed softly, the sound light and distant.
Sebastian’s grip on the steering wheel tightened instantly, the leather creaking faintly beneath his fingers.
His jaw tensed, but his eyes stayed glued to the road ahead.
His knuckles turned slightly white, and Lilith’s gaze flickered to his hands, catching the subtle change in his posture.
“Something wrong, sir?” she asked, tilting her head slightly.
Sebastian didn’t respond immediately.
His thumb tapped lightly against the wheel, as if he was forcing himself to stay composed.
“You hum like that often?” he asked, voice calm but noticeably tight.
Lilith smirked, resting her chin on her hand.
“I wasn’t aware it bothered you.” “It doesn’t.” His grip tightened further.
Lilith’s smirk deepened.
“Your hands say otherwise.” Sebastian’s eyes flicked toward her for a brief second before returning to the road, his expression unreadable.
“I’m just focused,” he replied smoothly.
“Hmm…” she hummed again, watching as his fingers flexed even harder around the wheel.
The corner of Lilith’s lips tugged upward, fully aware of the effect she was having.
He really is fun to mess with.
**** Sienna stormed through the long hallways of the Carter estate, heels clicking against the polished floors.
Her mind was clouded with frustration.
Sebastian’s clearly taking Lilith’s side.
The thought burned in her chest.
She had seen the way he looked at that woman-different, little bit softer even, and it made Sienna’s blood boil.
I’ll deal with this.
Without hesitation, she made her way to Grandma Bria’s room, adjusting her expression into one of sadness and concern.
If anyone could put Sebastian in his place, it was their grandmother.
She gently pushed the door open, stepping inside with a practiced look of quiet disappointment.
But the moment she saw Grandma Bria’s face, her rehearsed words faltered.
Bria sat stiffly by the window, her usual sharp gaze distant and unfocused.
There was a faint worry etched into her features.
Sienna’s brow furrowed.
“Grandma… what’s wrong?” she asked softly, stepping closer.
Bria’s eyes flickered toward her, but the tension in her shoulders didn’t ease.
“I haven’t seen Rose all day,” she murmured, her voice unusually quiet.
Sienna straightened slightly.
“Rose?” Bria nodded, her lips pressing into a thin line.
“Sebastian said he found her… but she hasn’t come home.” Sienna’s eyes red with unshed tears as she clutched the edge of her dress, her voice trembling dramatically.
“Grandma, I’m sure Rose is fine… but do you know what Sebastian did today?” she sniffled, pausing for effect.
“He insulted me-again!
And it was because of some orphan woman…” Her voice rose slightly, enough to echo in the quiet room.
“That woman looked down on me like I was nothing!” Grandma Bria’s worried expression shifted immediately, her lips pressing tightly together as she straightened in her chair.
The thought of Rose slipped to the back of her mind.
“What did you say?” Bria’s eyes narrowed.
“Sebastian… defending a woman?” Sienna nodded quickly, wiping at her dry cheeks.
“Yes!…” Bria’s brow furrowed deeply, lines forming across her forehead.
“How dare he…” she muttered, tapping her cane against the floor.
“Sebastian has never shown interest in any women before.
Why now?” “That’s exactly what I’m wondering,” Sienna added, dropping into the chair across from Bria, her shoulders slumping as if in defeat.
“She’s very beautiful… but she acts like she owns the place.
I can’t stand her.” Bria’s eyes narrowed further.
“What’s her name?” “Lilith,” Sienna said.
Grandma Bria sat back in her chair, her sharp eyes narrowing as a cold, calculating expression settled on her face.
“Well… if she thinks she can steal Sebastian’s attention so easily, she’s mistaken,” she said, her voice filled with coldness.
Sienna watched carefully, trying to hide the spark of satisfaction flickering in her eyes.
“Don’t worry,” Bria continued with overconfidence.
“My grandson adores me.
If I tell him to fire that woman, he will.” Sienna’s eyes widened dramatically, though the reaction was more for show.
Deep down, she felt nothing but delight.
Perfect.
However, she quickly adjusted her expression, shaking her head in mock concern.
“No, no, Grandma.
You can’t do that… she might be professional and good at her job.
Sebastian values skill, and if she’s useful-” “Nonsense.” Bria cut her off, her eyes darkening.
“I know women like her.
She’s not in that office for her skills-she’s good at seduction, nothing else.” Sienna’s lips twitched, barely holding back a smirk as she feigned innocence.
“Don’t be too kind, Sienna,” Grandma Bria warned, her voice low and stern.
“Before you know it, she’ll steal your man right out from under you.” Sienna’s hands tightened around the edge of her dress as if holding back frustration, but inside, she was glowing with satisfaction.
“I’ll handle it, Grandma,” Sienna said softly, lowering her head with a fake, humble expression.
“I trust you’ll do what’s best for the family.” Bria’s eyes flickered with pride at Sienna’s supposed humility.
“Yes… I will.” Bria’s voice was filled with certainty, but her expression twisted into something almost ugly as she thought about Lilith.
Lilith won’t last long, Sienna thought, hiding the smirk that tugged at her lips.
