Chapter 85: Chapter 85 Someone۪s watching me Chapter 85: Chapter 85 Someone۪s watching me Sebastian pulled up to the front of Angel Caf̩, his grip tightening slightly on the steering wheel as his eyes scanned the entrance.
The café was small, but warm lights spilled through the glass windows, illuminating cozy corners filled with couples laughing and sharing quiet moments.
His chest tightened slightly.
Romantic places… It wasn’t like him to overthink.
But for some reason, the sight of Lilith walking into a place like this alone, possibly meeting someone, tied his stomach in knots.
Lilith unbuckled her seatbelt and turned to him, her lips curling into a playful smile.
“Thank you, sir!
I’ve never seen such a considerate boss before.” Sebastian’s eyes met hers, lingering longer than necessary as her charming smile held him captive.
He gave a stiff nod, unable to form a proper response.
With that, Lilith gracefully stepped out, the click of her heels fading as she disappeared inside.
Sebastian’s eyes narrowed as he watched her figure vanish into the café.
His fingers tapped lightly against the steering wheel before he exhaled and drove off.
Or so it seemed.
A few blocks away, Sebastian slowed the car, glancing at the rearview mirror before pulling over to the side of the street.
The engine hummed softly as he parked, sitting in silence for a moment.
His jaw tightened.
Pulling open the glove compartment, he retrieved a black face mask and a simple cap.
With practiced ease, he slipped them on, tucking the cap low over his eyes.
His suit jacket came off next, revealing the black shirt underneath that hugged his frame.
Even without effort, the fabric traced over his broad chest and toned arms.
Sebastian stepped out of the car, shoving his hands into his pockets.
The cool evening breeze brushed against him as he crossed the street, but it didn’t stop the lingering glances of passersby.
The black shirt, dark black suit pants, and the effortless way he carried himself drew attention, despite the mask covering half his face.
His long strides and sharp gaze made him stand out-like a celebrity trying too hard to blend in with the crowd.
As he approached the café, he leaned casually against the side of a building nearby, his eyes fixed on the entrance.
He wasn’t following her.
Just keeping an eye on things.
That’s what he told himself as his cold gaze settled on the warm glow of the café’s interior.
*** Lilith stepped inside the cozy café, her eyes immediately spotting Nina near the corner by the window.
The soft lighting cast a warm glow over the area, but as Lilith approached, her gaze shifted to the man sitting beside Nina.

He was striking-tall, with sharp, gorgeous features that seemed too perfect to belong to someone casually sitting in a café.
His white shirt was crisp, sleeves rolled up just enough to show lean forearms, and paired with black pants that fit him like they were made specifically for him.
But what caught Lilith’s attention more than his looks was the way his hand gently caressed Nina’s, his thumb brushing over her knuckles with an intimacy that seemed out of place.
His eyes, filled with quiet affection, stayed locked on Nina like no one else in the cafe existed.
Lilith’s brow arched slightly.
Sliding into the empty chair across from them, she crossed her legs and leaned back casually.
“You called me?” Nina’s head snapped up, eyes widening slightly as if she had just remembered why she was there.
She straightened quickly, tugging her hand free from the man’s grasp.
“N-No!
I mean-yes, I did,” Nina stammered, clearly flustered.
The man’s gaze darkened as he watched her pull away.
Without hesitation, he reached out and gently took Nina’s hand again, his fingers lacing through hers before pulling them onto his lap.
Lilith’s lips twitched.
Oh?
Possessive.
Nina’s eyes flicked to Lilith awkwardly, cheeks flushing.
“I… apologize for him,” she muttered, shooting a quick glare at the man.
“Miss Lilith, please, order anything you like.” Nina waved over a nearby waiter, clearly trying to steer the focus away from her hand being held hostage.
Lilith didn’t miss the way the man’s thumb continued to rub slow circles over Nina’s skin, despite her attempts to appear unaffected.
Resting her chin in her hand, Lilith smirked lightly.
“No need to apologize.
I didn’t realize I was interrupting a date.” Nina nearly choked on air.
“It’s not a date.” The man, however, said nothing.
His eyes met Lilith’s briefly, calm, yet firm–before returning to Nina as if her denial hadn’t even registered.
Lilith’s gaze lingered on him for a moment longer, curiosity sparking.
Interesting.
“Right,” Lilith said, clearly amused.
“I’ll just have coffee.” As the waiter scribbled down the order and walked away, Lilith leaned back, watching the two of them with quiet interest.
This wasn’t what she expected.
After a few minutes, the waiter brought Lilith her coffee.
Lilith took the cup and casually sipped her coffee while Nina took a deep breath, clearly preparing to dive into the reason she had called for the meeting.
“Miss Lilith… I’ll get straight to the point,” Nina began.
Lilith raised a hand, cutting her off effortlessly.
“Just Lilith is fine,” she said smoothly, setting the cup down with a soft clink.
Nina smiled, relaxing slightly.
“Lilith, I called you because I want you to act in a script I’ve been working on.” Lilith didn’t even hesitate.
She shook her head, her expression indifferent.
“No, I’m not interested.” Nina blinked, caught off guard by the immediate rejection.
“But the character really suits you!
That’s why I wanted to meet in person… and this movie is special.
The role fits you perfectly.” Lilith met Nina’s pleading gaze with a calm look.
“I already have a full workload at Carter enterprise.
Acting isn’t really my thing.” At the mention of Carter, the man seated beside Nina lifted his brows slightly, his gaze subtly shifting toward Lilith.
Nina, unwilling to give up, slid a thick script from her bag and placed it on the table.
“Just take a look for me, Lilith.
Read it when you have time.
If you still feel the same after, I won’t push.” Lilith stared at the script for a moment before sighing softly.
She placed her cup down and took the script, tucking it into her bag with a slight nod.
“Alright.
I’ll take a look.” Nina’s face lit up with relief.
Lilith leaned back, her eyes flicking toward Knox, who had remained unusually quiet.
With a teasing smirk, she asked, “By the way, is he your boyfriend or husband?” Nina nearly choked on her drink, her eyes widening as she looked at Lilith in disbelief.
“You don’t know him?” Lilith tilted her head.
“Should I?” Nina burst into laughter, covering her mouth.
“Oh my god!
Knox!
She’s the first woman who doesn’t recognize you.
Usually, I have to deal with your crazy fangirls everywhere we go.” Knox’s eyes lingered on Nina for a second, but he didn’t seem bothered.
Nina wiped the corner of her eye, still chuckling.
“Lilith, he’s Knox Grayson.
You know, the movie emperor?
One of the biggest actors right now.” Lilith arched a brow slightly and nodded toward Knox.
“Ah, I see.
Nice to meet you.” Knox gave a small nod in return.
“Likewise.” As the atmosphere settled, Knox’s gaze suddenly sharpened as he looked at Lilith more carefully, his eyes narrowing in thought.
Lilith’s hand paused mid-air, fingers grazing the handle of her cup.
Her eyes flickered slightly as Knox’s words hung between them.
“I think you’re Lilith… the one who was engaged to Rayan Brooks, right?” Knox’s gaze narrowed, his tone careful, but there was unmistakable doubt lingering in his eyes.
Lilith met his stare calmly, showing no visible reaction.
After a brief pause, she gave a slight nod.
“Yes, that’s me.” Knox’s eyes stayed on her, as if he were trying to piece something together.
Before he could say anything else, Nina stood abruptly, brushing her hair behind her ear with a sheepish smile.
“Excuse me, I’ll be back soon,” she said quickly.
Lilith nodded in acknowledgment, but Knox’s gaze briefly shifted to Nina.
“I’m just going to the washroom, okay?” Nina said helplessly to Knox, who was quietly watching her.
Knox gave a small nod.
Lilith felt a faint prickle crawl up her spine, an instinct she couldn’t ignore.
Someone’s watching me.
Her eyes remained fixed on Knox, but she didn’t turn around.
Years of experience told her better than to make it obvious.
And she was right.
Tucked in the corner of the café, far enough to avoid direct attention but close enough to observe, Sebastian sat silently.
He hadn’t planned to follow her inside.
In fact, he told himself he wouldn’t.
But something had pulled him in the moment he saw her through the window-sitting across from another man.
Sebastian’s heart had almost skipped a beat when his gaze locked onto the figure sitting with Lilith.
The man was striking, with flawless features and an effortless charm that even Sebastian couldn’t deny.
The way that man leaned in, speaking gracefully, was the kind of presence that drew attention without trying.
And the worst part?
Every woman in the café was looking at him.
Sebastian’s grip tightened subtly around the cup of coffee he hadn’t even taken a sip of.
