Chapter 39:822 futures
I looked at Kong Ming, remaining silent.
The “Eye of Foresight” in his possession seemed overly lively, as if it were an independent being, scanning me up and down. As it did so, it trembled continuously.
As time passed, the trembling of the “Eye of Foresight” grew more intense, and beads of sweat began to form on Kong Ming’s forehead. His expression showed great pain.
After a long while, Kong Ming suddenly pulled down the black cloth, covering the Devil eye once more.
The overwhelming demonic aura vanished without a trace.
“Well?” Rahab asked coldly, while I stood by anxiously.
Kong Ming did not immediately answer Rahab. Instead, he exhaled heavily and then turned to me, asking, “Do you know the function of the ‘Eye of Foresight’?”
“Isn’t it to see the future?” I asked, puzzled.
Kong Ming shook his head gently and said, “Not exactly. The ‘Eye of Foresight’ doesn’t show the definite future but rather all possible futures.”
“All possible futures?”
“Yes, the world changes every second, so the future is constantly being rewritten. The ‘Eye of Foresight’ can see all the possible futures that a person or thing might experience from this moment onward.”
“Then how do you know which one of the countless futures will actually come to pass?” I asked, confused.
Kong Ming lifted his head and smiled calmly, “That’s the brilliance of the ‘Eye of Foresight.’ I can see all possible futures, and among these countless futures, if there is one that I desire to happen, I just need to follow all the details within that future, and the result will unfold exactly as I foresee.”
Kong Ming pointed to the coin at my feet and said, “For example, when you entered this room, there were eighty-five possible positions you could stand in. But in the future I saw, if I had Zicheng place the coin on the ground first, you would end up standing on it.”
“How does this relate to whether or not I am Satan?” I began to understand the workings of the “Eye of Foresight.”
Kong Ming looked at me and said, “Do you know how many futures you have right now?” I shook my head.
“822.”
“So, in these eight hundred-plus futures, I could either become Satan or not?” I asked.
“To be precise, in these 822 futures, there are only two where you become Satan,” Kong Ming said flatly.
I gasped. 2 out of 822—a minuscule probability.
“Why would I ‘become’ Satan? Aren’t I already Satan?” My breathing grew heavier, unwilling to accept Kong Ming’s words.
“Bi yongnuo, you should know that you are not the complete Satan right now,” Kong Ming turned to Rahab and asked, “Old Cat, you must have mentioned Satan’s appearance to him?”
Rahab nodded indifferently, “Yes, Satan has two horns on his head, skin as black as night, and a ‘Beast’ mark branded on his upper body.”
Rahab had already told me about Satan’s characteristics, and the Satanic Bible also mentioned them. So, when the Satanic followers saw the mark on my upper body in the underground square, they were all terrified and prostrated themselves.
“That’s correct. If you were truly Satan, you would have transformed into that appearance,” Kong Ming said.
“I did transform into that completely black form once,” I retorted.
Kong Ming smiled calmly, “But when you transformed into the true Satan, you lost your consciousness, didn’t you?”
My heart jolted.
Indeed, in Egypt, I had once accidentally transformed into the form Kong Ming described and lost consciousness without warning.

Although the unconscious period was brief, when I woke up, I knew that during my blackout, I had become something extremely terrifying.
Extremely, extremely terrifying.
Suddenly, I thought of my deceased master.
I remembered that irreparable mistake.
“Bi yongnuo, do you know why you can’t maintain your sanity? It’s because you don’t have enough power to control the endless demonic energy within your body,” Kong Ming suddenly stood up and said, “Right now, your power isn’t even equal to mine. How can you claim to be the King of Hell?”
“Wait, if in these 822 futures, only two of them have me becoming Satan, does that mean Satan won’t appear in the other 820 futures?” I asked in a deep voice.
“No, Satan will still appear,” Kong Ming glanced at me and said, “But it will be someone else who becomes Satan.”
At this point, I had already guessed that the other person Kong Ming was referring to was the Iron Mask Man.
I finally understood why he had been relentlessly pursuing me, wanting to kill me.
“That’s right, it’s the current leader of the Satanic Church,” Kong Ming seemed to read my mind.
“But how… how is that possible? How can there be two reincarnations of Satan?” My mind was filled with doubts.
“This, I cannot tell you. If I did, you would enter a future where you cannot become Satan,” Kong Ming said calmly. “I can only tell you that all mysteries will not last long. Whether you can become Satan depends not only on my hints but also on your own destiny.”
“Hints? What hints?” I asked.
“Master,” Kong Ming said, leaning on his cane as he walked to my side.
“Master?” I looked at Kong Ming, utterly confused.
Kong Ming nodded and continued walking towards the door, “After you go to Japan, go see your master.”
“But my master is no longer alive. How can I see him?” I frowned, asking towards Kong Ming’s back.
“When you find your master, you will understand what I mean,” Kong Ming said, opening the door and speaking with his back to me.
“Why are you helping me?”
“I once promised someone that I would help you become Satan,” he replied.
” Kong Ming, what about the remaining two questions?” Rahab suddenly jumped onto my shoulder.
Kong Ming half-turned his head and said calmly, “Old Cat, leave the remaining two questions for Yongnuo to ask.”
Rahab silently looked at him for a moment, then seemed to understand and said, “Alright, I’ll leave it to him.”
“Old Cat, back then, I was truly forced,” Kong Ming suddenly said, and then his figure mysteriously disappeared from the doorway.
I hurriedly ran to the door and shouted, “Senior, when will you appear again?”
“In truth, ‘Hell’ does not merely refer to the illusions conjured by the ‘Eye of Illusions,’ but is another container, juxtaposed with ‘Heaven.’ When you find ‘Hell,’ that is when I shall reappear,” Kong Ming’s serene voice echoed intermittently from miles away.
Finally, the surroundings returned to silence.
“He’s gone,” Rahab leapt from my shoulder to the ground.
“Rahab, why don’t you believe that I am Satan? Wasn’t I the one you and Master discovered?” I questioned Rahab.
Rahab glared at me and said, “Xiao Nuo, you heard it yourself. You only have a one in 411 chance of becoming Satan. My doubts are perfectly reasonable.”
“But on what grounds do you doubt me? I can fully utilize the ‘Eye of Illusions,’ and I can even manifest all eighteen layers of ‘Hell,'” I said, still holding a grudge against Rahab’s skepticism.
“Kong Ming just explained it, didn’t he? First, your appearance is not right; second, your power is far from that of Satan,” Rahab leapt onto the pale-yellow sofa, “If it weren’t for your Master’s ‘Eye of Illusions’ reacting to you, we wouldn’t be arguing here today.”
“Hmph, you can leave if you want. After all, there’s a high chance I won’t become the true Satan,” I said coldly.
“Better to stay here than to serve Samael together,” Rahab squinted his eyes and smiled, “Besides, their goal is certainly not to oppose the angelic army, so our paths diverge.”
At this moment, Yan’er noticed the growing tension between us and quickly intervened, “Stop arguing, go check on Brother Zicheng’s injuries first.”
I suppressed my anger and turned around. Although Zicheng’s expression was normal, his severed left hand had only half regenerated, and the wound was still bleeding profusely.
“Zicheng, how’s your hand?” I took a plate of meat slices from the fridge and handed it to him.
Zicheng thanked me and said, “It’s slowly healing.”
“Why not awaken the ‘Eye of Reminiscence’? It would speed up the recovery,” I noticed that Zicheng’s pupils were normal.
Zicheng smiled sheepishly, “Because I don’t want to waste my demonic power recklessly. I don’t want to be driven by the desire to consume others when I’m running low.”
I understood Zicheng’s thoughts. Having been a demon for only a short time, his humanity hadn’t faded, so he tried to avoid doing things that harmed others for his own benefit.
I patted his shoulder to show my understanding, “Then eat more.”
Zicheng nodded as he put the frozen meat slices into his mouth.
