Chapter 42:The recall of Satan’s death
“We, a party of five, arrived at a hillside outside Jerusalem as agreed, yet there was no sign of the angelic army or Jehovah. Just as Satan began to feel suspicious, a sudden surge of demonic energy erupted from all directions.” Rahab closed his eyes, his voice trembling as if reliving the moment. “By the time we realized that something was amiss, it was already too late. We looked around and saw the hillside teeming with heads, but they were all demons. At that moment, Samael and his two companions took advantage of Satan’s distraction and launched a surprise attack, summoning their Devil eye to strike him!”
I let out an exclamation, “Did they harm Satan?”
“Satan reacted swiftly. The instant he realized the ambush around him, he used the ‘Eye of Illusions’ to create an illusion, making everyone believe he was still standing in his original position. Although this caused Samael and Rofocal’s attacks to miss, however…” Rahab raised his head, his voice filled with hatred, “Kong Ming, that scoundrel! He had used the ‘Foreseeing Eye’ to predict the future, knowing Satan’s true location, and thus struck his vital point unerringly!”
“How could this be… Is Satan really that easy to hit?” I asked in disbelief.
“These events transpired in mere moments. Kong Ming meticulously planned to catch Satan off guard, which is why Satan was injured.” Rahab glanced at me and sighed, “Satan looked at Kong Ming with a confused and disappointed expression, much like yours now. Seeing their initial attack fail, Samael and his companions immediately retreated, allowing hundreds of demons to swarm forward.”
“And did you… resist?” I asked.
“We are not ones to surrender easily. Even if they were our comrades, we had to kill anyone who posed a threat to us.” Rahab paused before continuing, “But after killing a few, we realized they weren’t truly betraying us; they were being controlled by Rofocal’s ‘Puppeteer’s Eye’ Knowing this, we couldn’t bear to kill them. Instead, we aimed for their vital points to disable them.”
“Is Rofocal’s Devil eye really that powerful? To control hundreds of demons at once?” I wondered.
Demons typically have resilient minds. Controlling hundreds of humans is not difficult, but to manipulate hundreds of demons requires immense magical power and an extraordinarily strong will.
“Rofocal alone couldn’t control hundreds of demons simultaneously, but with Samael’s help, the problem was easily solved,” Rahab explained.
I looked at Rahab in confusion.
“You’ve seen Samael and know he possesses two Devil eye, right?” Rahab asked, and seeing me nod, he continued, “Samael’s Devil eye, the left ‘Binding Soul’ and the right ‘Releasing Soul,’ are complementary. The ‘Binding Soul Eye’ binds souls, while the ‘Releasing Soul Eye’ releases them.”
“I don’t understand. What do you mean by binding and releasing souls?” I asked, perplexed.
“Everyone has a soul. The soul is our consciousness and thoughts. Without a soul, a person becomes an empty shell without independent thought.” Rahab’s emerald eyes gleamed as he looked at me. “Samael has the ability to bind a person’s soul or release their innermost thoughts.”
“I see. So, if Samael binds the demons’ souls, Rofocal can easily control hundreds of them at once,” I realized.
“Exactly. Satan quickly understood this. To free the demons from Rofocal’s control, he needed to defeat Samael and remove his ‘Binding Soul Eye.’ With this in mind, Satan and I immediately attacked Samael. Although the hillside was crowded and Samael’s ghostly movements made it difficult to capture him, Satan’s extraordinary power allowed him to gradually increase his speed. A sudden strong wind arose, and the surroundings became pitch black, filled with Satan’s afterimages. When light returned, Satan stood atop the hillside, one hand gripping Samael’s neck, the other holding a bloody eye. I was overjoyed to see Samael’s left eye socket empty and bleeding profusely, while the demons stood still.”
Rahab’s body trembled as he fell silent.
After a long pause, unable to contain my curiosity, I softly asked, “What happened next?”
Rahab suddenly shouted, “Who knows! Who knows that at that moment, Satan was already dead!”
Tears streamed down his face as he spoke.
“Dead… dead?” I asked urgently, “What happened? Didn’t you win?”
Though I knew Satan ultimately perished, I couldn’t fathom the key events.
Rahab sobbed, “Satan and I thought we had subdued Samael, but Samael had anticipated this and secretly swapped his Devil eye before we set out!”
“You mean Satan removed the ‘Releasing Soul Eye’ instead of the ‘Binding Soul Eye’?” I asked in astonishment.
“Not only that, but he also wore the Bright Mirror at the moment he was captured! Satan thought he had subdued him, but Samael had this trick up his sleeve! Satan was already injured by Kong Ming, and with Samael’s ‘Bright Mirror,’ he was immune to Satan’s ‘Hell’ technique.” Rahab’s face twisted in pain. “When their eyes met, Satan’s intended illusion for Samael backfired on himself. Samael seized the opportunity and used the ‘Binding Soul Eye’ to lock Satan’s soul.”
“The Bright Mirror! How did he possess such a divine artifact?” I exclaimed in shock.
Rahab shook his head. “I don’t know, but it’s clear he had long planned to eliminate Satan. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have kept it hidden. When Samael finally tore out Satan’s heart and laughed maniacally, I realized Satan was dead.”
Tears streamed down Rahab’s face once more.
I remained silent.

Who could have imagined that a mighty demon emperor would meet his end at the hands of his own comrade?
“Rahab, why did Samael kill Satan?” I asked.
“For fame? For power? I don’t know,” Rahab replied, lifting his head. “Samael was always proud and aloof, silent and cold. Among the seven lords, he was the closest to Satan in strength. Perhaps he couldn’t bear to remain under Satan’s shadow, so he meticulously planned to kill him. But he lacked Satan’s charisma and grace. Even if he killed Satan, he couldn’t take his place.”
“After this battle, did you become enemies with them?” I pondered.
Rahab nodded. “Yes. After Samael killed Satan, he intended to eliminate me, but Kong Ming unexpectedly turned against them and used his mystical arts to rescue me.”
“This is strange. Wasn’t Kong Ming your enemy? Why did he help you?” I frowned.
“Maybe he only wanted to kill Satan and couldn’t bear to harm his childhood friend,” Rahab said with disdain. “But even if he saved me, it couldn’t erase my hatred! He took me to a safe place and said three sentences before disappearing.”
“What were those three sentences?” I asked curiously.
“‘I’m sorry.’ ‘I promise to answer three of your questions.’ ‘Take care, Rahab.'” Rahab replied indifferently.
