Chapter 43:On the train to Kyoto
“Rahab…” Betrayed by his closest companion, Rahab must have been heartbroken.
As I struggled to find words of comfort, Rahab suddenly sneered, “But that scoundrel won’t have it easy either.”
“What do you mean?” I asked.
Rahab didn’t answer immediately but instead questioned, “You fought Wu kong, so you should be familiar with his strength, right?”
“Yes,” I nodded.
“How does Kong Ming compare to Wu kong?” Rahab asked.
“Kong Ming’s power is slightly superior to Wu kong’s,” I replied without hesitation.
“That’s it. Do you remember the black silk Kong Ming used to cover his eyes?” Rahab asked.
Though I didn’t understand why Rahab suddenly mentioned the black silk, I nodded to indicate my recollection. “At first, I knew he had the power of foresight, but I couldn’t sense any demonic aura from him. I thought he had another unique skill. Who would have expected that when he removed the black silk, a torrent of demonic energy surged forth. It seems that the black silk serves to seal his demonic aura.”
“Indeed. That black cloth is one of the twelve divine artifacts, known as ‘Ink Veil,’ the very cloth used to seal Jehovah, also referred to by the world as the ‘Shroud,'” Rahab explained calmly.
“Another divine artifact! What is the purpose of this ‘Ink Veil’?” I inquired.
“The ‘Ink Veil,’ black as ink and light as a cicada’s wing, is extraordinarily resilient. Apart from the twelve divine artifacts, no other weapon can damage it. Its primary function is sealing, as its unique material prevents anything from penetrating it,” Rahab elaborated. “Air cannot pass through it, nor can demonic energy. Moreover, the saying ‘only the one who ties the veil can untie it’ applies here. Once someone ties the ‘Ink Veil,’ only that person can undo the knot. Thus, the ‘Ink Veil’ is both a defensive and offensive divine artifact.”
“Why does Kong Ming need to wrap his eyes with the ‘Ink Veil’?” I asked, puzzled.
“Kong Ming’s demonic power was originally the weakest among the seven lords. But as we’ve seen, his demonic aura has become stronger than that of old Sun, who ranks fourth! This indicates that he must have practiced diligently for two thousand years,” Rahab said, then suddenly laughed with schadenfreude. “Unfortunately, it seems he was too hasty, leading to a loss of control over his demonic energy. He has to use the ‘Ink Veil’ to block the demonic energy and prevent his ‘Foresight Eye’ from going out of control.”
“Losing control? Even the seven lords can lose control?” I asked with a smile.
Rahab gave me a stern look. “Of course, the seven lords are still demons.”
Demonic cultivation is quite similar, primarily focusing on absorbing demonic energy and refining its purity.
However, if a demon’s body contains too much demonic energy and their Devil eye cannot control it, the energy will forcibly discharge through the Devil eye.
At that point, the Devil eye remains perpetually open, unable to close until the demonic energy is exhausted.
This is what it means to lose control.
When a demon’s demonic energy is depleted, they face the ‘Heavenly Tribulation.’ No wonder Kong Ming uses the ‘Ink Veil’ to seal his Devil eye.
At this moment, I suddenly remembered Rahab mentioning that the ‘Ink Veil’ was used to wrap Jehovah. I quickly asked, “What about Jehovah? With Satan dead, is there anyone left who can harm him?”
Just as Rahab was about to respond, the plane experienced turbulence, indicating it had encountered an air current.
I was jolted, grabbing the fuselage for support, and simultaneously heard a faint call from the front.
Zicheng!
I immediately remembered that he was undergoing ‘inverted walking’ training and swiftly summoned the ‘Eye of Illusions,’ moving rapidly toward the cockpit.
Upon reaching the cockpit, the strong wind made it nearly impossible to open my eyes. I looked around but couldn’t see Zicheng.
Just as I feared he might have been thrown from the plane, Rahab suddenly sprang from my embrace.
“He’s here!” Rahab’s small figure tumbled through the air, landing on the side of the fuselage.

I followed his gaze and saw a shadow clinging desperately to a window, in a perilous situation. It was Zicheng.
“Zicheng, hold on!” I shouted with all my strength.
Using his rotational force, Rahab’s claws easily dug into the iron shell of the fuselage.
Step by step, Rahab walked steadily toward Zicheng.
When he reached Zicheng’s position, Rahab turned sideways and extended his long tail in front of Zicheng.
Seeing this, Zicheng slowly shifted his grip from the window frame to Rahab’s tail.
Once Zicheng had a firm hold, Rahab shouted, “Careful!” and swung his tail forcefully, throwing Zicheng into the air.
I looked up, gauged the position, and leaped into the sky, catching Zicheng in mid-air.
“That was a close call,” Zicheng said, his face pale.
“Hey, you need more training!” I laughed as we landed safely.
“Xiaonuo, let him rest for a while,” Rahab said, appearing beside us.
I put Zicheng down and told him, “You should return to the cabin.”
But Zicheng shook his head. “No, I want to continue training.”
“Kid, diligence is good, but haste can be harmful,” Rahab said coldly, seemingly reminded of Kong Ming’s loss of control.
“You said our enemies are numerous. I don’t want to be a burden at a critical moment,” Zicheng said, gritting his teeth. “And you mentioned Li Hongwei’s unpredictable strength. I must increase my power quickly to avenge Ruorou.”
Just as I was about to continue persuading him, Rahab suddenly said, “Zicheng, I have a method to significantly boost your mental strength in a short time.”
“What method?” Zicheng’s eyes lit up.
Rahab turned to me, smiling sinisterly. “A visit to ‘Hell.'”
A demon’s strength relies on physical agility, mental fortitude, and the quality of their demonic energy.
Without a strong physique, a demon would be easily defeated in a physical confrontation. In a battle of Devil eye, the one with stronger mental willpower would prevail.
Demonic energy enhances both physical and mental attributes. The purer the energy, the more pronounced the effect; the greater the quantity, the longer it lasts.
Thus, physical skills, mental strength, and demonic energy are all indispensable.
Kansai International Airport is built on an artificial island and operates 24 hours a day, with planes constantly arriving and departing.
By the time our plane landed, the sun was already high in the sky.
As we disembarked, Zicheng had just completed the fourth level of ‘Hell’—the ‘Copper Drinking’ training.
Rahab’s earlier mention of mental training involved me using the ‘Eye of Illusions’ to create ‘Hell,’ allowing Zicheng to experience it from the first level.
If he could remain unaffected, he could proceed to the next level, and so on.
“Wow, the sensation is incredibly real! When the boiling copper liquid poured into my mouth, the feeling of my organs being scorched was unbearable!” Zicheng said, wiping sweat from his face while drinking ice water.
I laughed, “You’ll have to drink more of that copper liquid during the car ride.” Zicheng’s face immediately showed fear.
Rahab, who had been silent, asked, “Zicheng, have you been to that orphanage?”
Zicheng finished his ice water in one gulp and nodded. “We visited it once after we got married.” He pointed to a train map on the wall. “The orphanage is here, in an estate on the outskirts of Kyoto.”
At this moment, I noticed that Yan’er, usually talkative, was standing silently by herself, lost in thought.
“Yan’er, what’s wrong?” I asked, patting her shoulder with a smile.
Yan’er shook her head and forced a smile. “Nothing, just tired from the long flight.”
Though she said this, I knew she was worried about Daji’s safety.
“In that case, let’s rest a bit before we head out,” Zicheng suggested.
Yan’er immediately waved her hand. “No, we should leave quickly. My mother’s life is at stake!”
“Then let’s go.” I waved my hand, revealing three train tickets to Kyoto.
The train sped along like a shooting star, the scenery outside the window changing at a dizzying pace, too fast for the naked eye to discern.
There were few passengers on the train, and a deep sense of tranquility pervaded the air, mingling with a thick drowsiness.
Rahab, seated opposite me, was curled up and quietly asleep on his chair.
Beside him, Yan’er had her head bowed and eyes closed, but I could tell from her irregular breathing that she was not yet asleep.
At that moment, the scenery outside the window suddenly changed as we entered a sparsely populated area of Kyoto.
