Chapter 61: Chapter 59: The true identity of the monk
As they were brought above my head, the monk released the staff, letting them fall for me to catch.
I placed them on the ground and checked their breathing. They were both unconscious but breathing normally.
“Don’t worry, they’re fine. The man exhausted his demonic energy and hasn’t woken up yet. The girl was paralyzed by Musashi. I’ll undo it once we get back,” the monk said, putting his shirt back on.
He pursed his lips, seemingly about to whistle, but no sound came out.
“Little Cer’s whistle has a very high frequency. Even I can’t hear it,” Rahab explained.
I nodded in understanding, “The monk is summoning his subordinates, right?”
Rahab looked up at the sky and chuckled, “Subordinates? Heh, he’s calling his son!”
“His son?” I didn’t understand but followed Rahab’s gaze.
At this moment, the clouds were torn apart by a strange whirlwind, creating a large hole.
Then, a massive black figure descended rapidly from the clouds!
“Boom!”
The giant figure landed on the ground in front of us, raising a cloud of dust several meters high.
Fearing something unusual, I summoned the ‘Eye of Illusionss’ and leaped onto a tall tree, staying alert.
The moon, previously obscured by clouds, now peeked through the gap created by the whirlwind.
In the fragmented moonlight, the giant black figure was revealed to be Yang Jian’s battle companion, the Howling Sky Dog!
The Howling Sky Dog’s long fur swayed in the wind, its enormous Devil eyes casting a red glow wherever it looked. Combined with its massive body, it was a truly terrifying sight.
However, the Howling Sky Dog was extremely friendly to the black-robed monk. It nudged the monk with its nose and then extended its several-meter-long tongue as if to lick him.
“Little Howling, stop messing around!” the black-robed monk scolded as he dodged, but I could hear a hint of warmth in his tone. In a flash, he was already seated on the Howling Sky Dog’s neck.
Watching this scene, a sudden realization struck me.
“Monk, I’ve figured out your true identity,” I said with a smile from the treetop.
“Oh? Let’s hear it,” the black-robed monk said with interest.
I looked at him confidently and said, “Monk, your name is Cerberus!”
The monk was momentarily taken aback, then burst into hearty laughter. “That’s right, I am indeed Cerberus, the Hellhound!”
Initially, when I saw the monk with six Devil eyes and heard him claim to be the president of the Demon Slayer Association, with Yang Jian as a member, I thought he might be Ne zha, the legendary figure with three heads and six arms. But when I noticed his neck could rotate freely like a wolf’s, and Rahab called him “Little Cer,” and said the Howling Sky Dog was his biological son, I realized he was Cerberus from Greek mythology.
In mythology, Cerberus guards the underworld and serves Hades. It seems ancient misinformation led to the confusion between Hades and Hell, which should actually refer to Satan and the ‘Eye of Illusionss.’
Cerberus, sitting on the Howling Sky Dog’s neck, waved at us and said, “It’s getting late. Come on up!”
I secured Yan’er and Zicheng at my waist, then leaped lightly onto the Howling Sky Dog’s back.
“Little Howling, take us back to the temple,” Cerberus said, patting the dog. The Howling Sky Dog let out a low growl, seemingly in response.
The dog’s long fur suddenly came to life, wrapping securely around my waist, as well as Yan’er’s and Zicheng’s.

Puzzled, I asked, “What’s happening?”
Rahab, jumping off my shoulder, said, “Ugh, I hate this fur.” He then curled up and closed his eyes to rest, while the dog’s fur formed a small tent around him.
“What’s going on?” I asked in astonishment.
Cerberus just smiled slyly and said, “Sit tight.”
Before I could ask further, I felt a sudden increase in pressure. A fierce wind pressed down on me, making it hard to speak. In a blur, my vision cleared, and I found myself in an empty space reflecting a silvery-blue light. Looking up, I saw the moon seemed larger than usual, and the clouds had vanished. Looking down, I realized we were now above the clouds.
In an instant, the Howling Sky Dog had leaped into the sky, carrying us through the clouds!
“Monk, your son’s jumping ability is incredible!” I exclaimed to Cerberus.
Cerberus laughed, “Kid, are you scared?”
I smirked, “Heh, this height doesn’t scare me. I’m just amazed at the Howling Sky Dog’s strength.”
“Little Howling possesses Eye of Wishes which allow it to manipulate its body size at will,” Rahab said from within the fur tent. “On the ground, Little Howling maximized its size. Then, during the jump, it shrank its body using Eye of Wishes making the leap’s force immensely powerful, propelling us thousands of feet into the air.”
“I see!” I said, understanding. Looking at the Howling Sky Dog again, I noticed its size had indeed shrunk considerably.
After leaping under the bright moonlight for a while, the Howling Sky Dog let out a low bark, its demonic aura surged, and its body expanded before diving straight down.
Upon landing, it caused a loud crash, shaking us violently on its back.
Once it settled, I could finally see our surroundings.
We were at a traditional Japanese temple built on a hilltop, surrounded by dense bamboo groves. The gentle breeze rustled the leaves, adding a cool touch to the night air. The temple was secluded, with only a small stone path leading down the hill, suggesting it wasn’t a popular pilgrimage site.
As we dismounted, a middle-aged monk with delicate features emerged from the main hall, his face lighting up with joy.
“President, you’re finally back!” the monk said, seemingly a member of the Demon Slayer Association.
Cerberus nodded and asked, “How is the Three-Eyed God?”
“He’s still meditating in the hall, trying to locate the enemy,” the monk replied, looking worried.
Cerberus nodded, pointing to Yan’er and Zicheng. “Take care of them and prepare some food for us.”
“Yes!” The monk responded respectfully, taking Yan’er and Zicheng from me.
After the monk left, Cerberus pushed open the main hall doors and entered.
As soon as the doors opened a crack, a thick demonic aura surged out.
“The hall is made of materials that block demonic energy,” I thought, surprised. Inside, a figure sat cross-legged in the center, the source of the demonic aura.
It was Yang Jian, the Erlang God.
Under the dim oil lamps, I saw Yang Jian’s eyes closed, with only the Devil eye on his forehead moving restlessly. Despite the eye’s agility, Yang Jian was sweating profusely and looked pained.
“Little Jian!” Cerberus called gently after closing the door.
Yang Jian trembled at the sound, “Godfather, is that you?”
“Yes, it’s me,” Cerberus said warmly. “Little Jian, are you okay?”
“Don’t worry, I’m fine!” Yang Jian smiled, but his eyes remained closed.
“By the way, Rahab and Bi yongnuo are here too. We’ll talk on the side; you focus on your task,” Cerberus said with a smile.
“Bi yongnuo is here too?” Yang Jian laughed. It seemed that while using his Devil eye, his normal sight was temporarily lost.
“Heh, I’m here,” I said with a smile.
Yang Jian turned his head towards my voice, “Has your wound from this morning healed?” he asked, with a hint of mockery.
“Yes, it’s healed, but my chest still aches a bit,” I said, approaching him. “Oh, Yang, are you blind right now?”
“So, what if I am?” Yang Jian frowned.
“Heh heh, seeing you like this, I feel like taking advantage and slashing your chest to avenge that wound,” I said, squatting next to him with a wicked smile.
“Try it if you dare!” Yang Jian, knowing Cerberus was nearby, remained angry but defiant.
Seeing his anger, I felt satisfied, and the morning’s frustration dissipated. “Haha, I’m just kidding, Yang. Don’t be mad.”
“Hmph!” Yang Jian didn’t respond, his demonic aura increasing as he focused on his task. The Howling Sky Dog, now lion-sized, lay quietly beside him, resting.
“Little Nuo, stop messing around and come sit,” Rahab called from behind me.
I turned to see Rahab and Cerberus sitting around a small table.
“Monk, what is your three-eyed godson doing?” I asked, sitting on a cushion next to Rahab, facing Cerberus.
Cerberus smiled, “Little Jian is searching for the Satan’s Cult’s base in Japan.”
“The Japanese base… Is his Devil eye the legendary Clairvoyance?” I asked, curious.
“Yes, Little Jian’s Devil eye is the ‘Clairvoyance Eye’ But it’s a bit different from the legend,” Cerberus explained. “The ‘Clairvoyance Eye’ can see within a thousand miles but has limitations. Its true function is to see what any creature within a thousand-mile radius sees.”
I pondered for a moment, then understood Cerberus’s explanation. If the Iron Mask Man was in Japan, he was likely hiding in this base, and Daji and Li Hongwei might be there too.
“How much can he see at once?” I asked.
“Little Jian can see within a ten-meter diameter of any creature’s view,” Cerberus said calmly.
I nodded in understanding.
A ten-meter radius was significant. Besides humans, it included insects and animals. If Yang Jian had to see everything within that circle each time, it would be mentally exhausting, explaining his pained expression.
“By the way,” I suddenly remembered, “this morning on the train, did you attack us because Yang Jian’s ‘Clairvoyance Eye’ saw us there?”
Cerberus shook his head, smiling, “Not exactly.”
I looked at him, puzzled.
“Little Jian can sense demonic energy within ten miles. This morning, when they were out searching, you used your Devil eye on the train, which was within Little Jian’s range. They mistook your strong demonic energy for Satan’s Cult members and attacked the train,” Cerberus explained. “Musashi kills any demon he encounters, so he fought you. Little Jian recognized Rahab but hadn’t seen him in two thousand years, so he captured him, not realizing Rahab was pretending to be unconscious.”
