Chapter 66: Chapter 64: Launch tracking
Since hearing from Cerberus three days ago that the Iron Mask Man had taken the ‘Ark,’ Rahab’s attitude towards me had become extremely cold. He no longer looked me in the eye during conversations and ended them quickly. It seemed he had decided that the Satan’s Cult leader was the true reincarnation of Satan.
“Found it!” Yang Jian, who was searching the skinny man’s body, suddenly exclaimed. He pulled out a silver metal bead from the man’s black clothes, holding it in his palm. The bead was smooth and reflective, with a coin-sized circular engraving containing a smaller circle inside.
Yan’er, looking at the bead, asked, “Uncle Jian, why does this bead look like an eyeball? The big and small circles are like the iris and pupil, right?”
“Haha, clever kid. This metal bead is called the ‘Silver Eye.’ Its shape, size, and even weight mimic a human eyeball,” Cerberus smiled, taking the bead from Yang Jian. “Because this bead is the key to entering and exiting the Satan’s Cult’s bases.”
“A key… Right! Last time Yan’er and Big Brother were in Florence, we had to use a Devil eye to enter the Satan’s Cult headquarters,” Yan’er clapped her hands in realization.
“Yes, but that Devil eye was later ground into a pulp,” I said.
“Actually, those mechanisms don’t require a real Devil eye. Any ordinary eyeball or this ‘Silver Eye’ will do,” Cerberus shook his head. “What a waste of a perfectly good Devil eye.”
I shrugged and said helplessly, “We didn’t have this ‘Silver Eye’ at the time.” But I secretly admired the clever use of an eyeball as a key. Although everyone has a pair of eyes, few would guess that the key to the mechanism was an eyeball. Even if they knew, no ordinary person would gouge out their own eye, as eyes don’t regenerate.
“Stop dawdling. Zicheng, catch!” Rahab interrupted our conversation, his long tail flicking as he tossed something to Zicheng.
Zicheng caught the object and realized it was the skinny man’s severed head.
“Figure out where this skinny man came from. We need to infiltrate the base quickly before the enemy notices us,” Rahab said, leaping from the ground to Cerberus’s broad shoulder.
Zicheng nodded and activated his demonic energy, awakening the “Eye of Recollection.”
“Sorry,” Zicheng said apologetically, his left eye turning crimson. He held the blood-stained head close, staring intently into the lifeless eyes. After a moment, Zicheng pointed to a large tree next to Miyamoto Musashi and said, “Under that tree, there’s a small pit covered by roots. It seems to be the keyhole.”
Miyamoto Musashi walked to the indicated tree and asked, “This one?”
“Yes, the man placed the metal eye in that pit,” Zicheng said, gently placing the head on the ground. As his demonic energy dissipated, the blood-red color in his eyes vanished.
Miyamoto Musashi crouched down and pulled up the roots embedded in the soil, revealing a small pit hidden in the sand.
I walked over and examined the pit, noticing that the soil within a meter of the pit was lighter in color than the surrounding area.
“It seems this mechanism is like the one at the Florence headquarters. Once opened, the floor will rapidly descend,” I said, looking up at Cerberus. “Shall we go in?”
Cerberus, recalling that his enemies were right below, his eyes filled with killing intent, sneered, “Heh, with Rahab’s help, I can finally face Samael.” Rahab, perched on Cerberus’s shoulder, glared coldly at him.
“Monk, don’t forget our agreement,” I said, taking the ‘Silver Eye’ from Cerberus.
“Heh, don’t worry. Rahab and I will keep Samael occupied. You take the chance to retrieve the ‘Ark’,” Cerberus said, standing beside me. “But if you get struck by lightning and die, I can’t keep my promise.”
I smiled, “This base is quite deep underground. I doubt any lightning can penetrate this thick earth.”
Cerberus shook his head and said seriously, “This lightning isn’t ordinary. If it didn’t have earth-shattering power, Samael wouldn’t have dared to touch the ‘Ark’ for a thousand years.” I just smiled without replying.
Once everyone stood within the lighter-colored soil area, I asked softly, “Is everyone ready?” Seeing them nod, I gently placed the ‘Silver Eye’ into the pit.
A faint sound came from the ground as the ‘Silver Eye’ fit perfectly into the pit and began to spin rapidly.
Everyone knew the mechanism was about to activate and fell silent, the atmosphere growing tense.
At that moment, I felt a cold sensation in my palm. Looking down, I saw a small, soft hand tightly gripping mine. It was Yan’er. Her face was still pale, and though she smiled, her worry was evident.
I squeezed her hand gently and said, “Don’t be afraid, Yan’er. Big Brother is here.” Yan’er looked at me gratefully, her gaze becoming more determined.

“Boom!” The ground beneath us dropped rapidly!
As our heads descended below the surface, the entrance above was sealed by another panel. The sudden darkness made it hard to see, but I could hear the increased heartbeats of everyone except Rahab and Cerberus.
After about a minute of descent, the floor shook, and light flooded in as we reached the Satan’s Cult’s base.
Two guards, surprised by our sudden appearance, raised their machine guns and shouted, “Who are you…?” But before they could finish, Yang Jian and Miyamoto Musashi swiftly broke their necks.
After the Howling Sky Dog devoured the bodies, we took a moment to observe our surroundings.

We found ourselves in a small circular chamber. The design of the chamber was simple and ancient, with uneven stone walls covered in torches, casting flickering shadows around the room. Besides the passage leading directly to the surface above, there were closed domed doors on all sides of the chamber.
“Which door should we go through?” I asked, walking up to one of the doors and gently touching it. I noticed a semicircular indentation in the center, suggesting that this door also required the ‘Silver Eye’ to open.
Cerberus looked around the room and then addressed the Howling Sky Dog, which had returned to its lion-like size, “Little Howling, sniff around for any traces of Feather or Samael.”
The Howling Sky Dog sniffed the ground for a while and then let out a low growl towards the southern and western doors. Yang Jian, riding on the dog’s back, closed his eyes and ran his hand through its fur before opening his eyes and saying, “Little Howling says there are traces of Samael’s scent coming from both the southern and western doors. However, the scent is stronger from the southern door, while there’s a faint trace of Third Brother from the western door.”
Cerberus stroked his chin in thought for a moment before turning to Rahab and asking, “What do you think?”
“Let’s split into two groups. I’ll go with Little Cer through the southern door, and Little Nuo and Yang Jian can go through the western door. If Little Howling’s nose is correct, Samael is behind the southern door, but he was at the western door not long ago,” Rahab said, flicking his tail. “The ‘Ark’ can’t be moved easily, so it might be hidden behind the western door. Even if it isn’t, you can rescue the undercover agent and then join us, which will give us more fighting strength.”
“What if there’s nothing behind the western door?” I asked.
Rahab looked at me and said, “Return here quickly and try the eastern and northern doors. If there’s still nothing, come to the southern door and try to catch up with us. We’ll move slowly to avoid detection. But if you find the ‘Ark’, take it and leave. Just have Little Howling bark to alert us before you go.”
“Leave? What about you?” I asked in surprise.
Rahab sneered, “We might not be able to defeat Samael, but we can certainly escape.”
Hearing Rahab’s words, I nodded in agreement.
At this point, Cerberus walked up to the Howling Sky Dog and extended his hand in front of its mouth, saying, “Little Howling, give me two eyeballs.”
The Howling Sky Dog opened its mouth wide and spat out two saliva-covered eyeballs into Cerberus’s hand, presumably from the Satan’s Cult members it had just devoured. Cerberus handed one of the eyeballs to Yang Jian and said, “You guys go ahead.”
Yang Jian nodded and placed the eyeball into the indentation on the western door. As soon as the eyeball fit into the pit, it began to spin rapidly, just like the ‘Silver Eye’ earlier. After a few seconds, the door suddenly opened upwards, revealing a brightly lit, modern corridor starkly different from the ancient chamber.
“Godfather, we’re going,” Yang Jian said, riding the Howling Sky Dog into the corridor, followed closely by the others.
Before leaving the chamber, I turned to Rahab and said with a smile, “Don’t die too quickly, you damn cat.” Rahab closed his eyes and didn’t respond, pretending not to hear me. Feeling annoyed, I let out a cold snort and turned to walk into the corridor. After taking a few steps, I heard the sound of the door closing behind me.
But just before the door fully closed, a voice reached my ears.
“You too, kid. Don’t go reporting to ‘Hell’ too soon,” Rahab said through a secret transmission, his tone as cold as ever.
