Chapter 91: Chapter 89:Back in Egypt again
Egypt, in the desert southwest of Cairo.
I was driving a “borrowed” jeep, speeding towards the place where my master was buried. Once we left the city, the surroundings resembled a broken videotape, endlessly replaying the vast desert. But if I closed my eyes for a moment, the car’s air conditioning could make me temporarily forget that I was in the midst of yellow sand. The car sped along, leaving a trail of swirling sand in its wake.
“Big brother, how much longer until we get there?” Yan’er, sitting in the middle of the back seat, asked.
I leaned forward and looked ahead. “Not far. That valley up ahead is the place.”
“Big brother, you’re amazing. There’s nothing but sand around here, yet you can still find your way,” Yan’er said.
“I lived here for four years, after all,” I smiled. “If I couldn’t recognize the way, I would have perished in the desert long ago.”
Yan’er stuck out her pink tongue and fell silent.
The car became quiet again.
Zicheng, sitting beside me, had been staring out the window in a daze since we got in the car. Hayashi Junko, in the back seat, pretended to sleep, seemingly unwilling to face anyone.
Since leaving the inn in Japan, both of them had been preoccupied and silent. When they did speak, it was only a few sentences, never more. However, ‘Heartbreak’ was evidently effective. Zicheng’s gaze towards Hayashi Junko had changed, and sometimes he would stare at her absentmindedly. Zicheng had tried to talk to her several times, but Hayashi Junko would immediately turn away, clearly not wanting any interaction with him, not even eye contact.
I knew that Hayashi Junko deeply resented both Zicheng and me, but she endured it to avenge her husband.
At this moment, the surroundings suddenly darkened as the jeep entered the valley.
Since my master’s grave was deep in the valley and the car couldn’t go further, I parked it to the side and called everyone to get out.
Daji was the first to get out. She looked around, her eyebrows furrowing as she asked, “Is this where your master is buried?”
“Yes,” I replied, turning to her. “Did you notice something unusual?”
Daji looked towards the depths of the valley, her expression serious. “I smell blood up ahead.”
Daji, being a fox, had a much keener sense of smell than I did. Hearing her words, I quickly activated the ‘Eye of Illusions,’ enhancing my sense of smell.
Sure enough, a faint scent of blood wafted from the depths of the valley, seemingly coming from my master’s burial site.
“It seems someone has beaten us to it,” I frowned and said seriously. “Everyone, be careful. The enemy might be waiting for us up ahead.”
Daji closed her eyes and sniffed again. After a moment, she opened her eyes and said, “No, I can’t smell any other scents, and the blood isn’t fresh. It seems the enemy left some time ago.”
“Let’s go in and take a look,” I said, keeping my Devil eye active. The eerie red glow flickered on.
The five of us held our breath and quietly walked into the depths of the valley, trying not to make a sound. The narrow valley passage was barren, with occasional strong winds causing eerie echoes that sounded like ghostly wails, sending chills down our spines.
The surroundings were unusually calm, with no signs of danger, just as Daji had said. It seemed the enemy had indeed left some time ago.
After walking a bit further, we reached the deepest part of the valley, where the view suddenly opened up.
In front of us was a large circular clearing, surrounded by mountain walls. The mountain walls were covered in cracks and crevices, and the ground was littered with broken rocks.
“It looks like there was a big battle here,” Yan’er said, looking at the exaggerated cracks with her mouth agape.
“There was indeed a fierce battle here,” I said as I walked towards a pile of stone towers. “But the one who caused these marks was none other than myself.”
At the far end of the clearing stood twelve stone towers made of flat stones, neatly arranged in a semicircle, each about as tall as a person. The only exception was the tower on the far right, which had been knocked over, its stones scattered on the ground.
Under the toppled stone tower lay my master’s grave, beside which were the corpses of three cheetahs.

“Big brother, you made these cracks?” Yan’er asked, her face full of disbelief.
“Yes, I was exercising my full demonic power here, attempting to ‘darken.’ I walked to my master’s grave, ignoring the cheetah corpses, and began moving the stones. “When I fully transformed into Satan, my power was terrifying, but I also lost control and was consumed by the dark energy.”
“What happened afterward?” Yan’er asked softly.
“Afterward, I accidentally killed my master,” I said with a faint smile.
Hearing this, Yan’er gasped in shock and fell silent. I smiled at her and continued my work.
About half a year ago, my master and Rahab noticed that my training was showing results, so they suggested I try unleashing all my demonic power at once.
Over the past four years, my strength had grown rapidly, but I had never transformed into the Satan that Rahab knew. This attempt was also an experiment to see if I could ‘darken.’
When I unleashed all the demonic energy stored in my body at once, I successfully ‘darkened.’ However, with the immense power came a loss of control. I went mad and relentlessly attacked Rahab and my master.
Without Devil eye, my master was just a mortal. After dodging my attacks a few times, he was eventually struck in the chest, his heart and lungs shattered.
In the end, Rahab had to transform back into a sphinx to barely subdue me. The marks on the rock walls were left from our fierce battle.
“Where did the cheetahs come from?” Zicheng asked as he walked up to me.
“These are cheetahs, nearly extinct in Egypt,” I said, continuing to move the stones. “Rahab brought these three from afar.”
“Brought them all the way to Egypt to guard your master’s grave?”
“Yes, but that was before I left,” I looked up at him and smiled. “These cheetahs were originally for my speed and combat training. Out of dozens, only these three survived, so they’re quite precious.”
Zicheng chuckled dryly and squatted down to examine the cheetah corpses.
I continued moving the stones, and soon, I uncovered a wooden block, which was my master’s coffin.
I quickened my pace, and soon the coffin was fully exposed. I bent down to lift it, but as soon as I touched it, I realized it was surprisingly light, not at all like it contained a body!
My heart sank. Ignoring the stones still on the coffin, I forcefully opened the lid.
As soon as I did.
“Squeak!”
A foul stench erupted, and a swarm of bats flew out of the coffin!
I reacted quickly, leaping back.
The bats didn’t pursue me. They flew towards the light at the top of the valley and soon disappeared.
Cursing under my breath, I hurriedly checked my master’s coffin.
The inside was empty.
“Damn, someone got here first!” I angrily threw the coffin lid to the ground.
I had already guessed what Kong ming was referring to.
When my master died, Rahab and I were both present. If there was any relic, it could only be a short sword he always carried. There was nothing else.
I thought for a long time and concluded that Kong ming’s so-called treasure might not be a physical object. It could be something intangible.
The only intangible thing my master could have left me was his memory.
This was also one of the reasons I kept Zicheng around.
Now that someone has beaten us to it and stolen my master’s corpse, even though they don’t have the “Eye of Reminiscence,” if they destroy the body, we won’t be able to learn the contents of that “treasure.”
The enemy deliberately hid bats in the coffin, not only to show that they are fully aware of our movements but also to mock me with the bats’ squeaking, much like the Satan’s Cult leader would.
“But he was gravely injured, and we only decided to come to Egypt a day ago. How could he be so well-informed?” I couldn’t figure it out, so I shook my head and set aside my doubts for now.
I turned to Zicheng and asked, “How did these cheetahs die?”
“Beaten to death with fists,” Zicheng said, lifting one of the cheetahs’ heads with bulging eyes. “It seems the same person killed all three cheetahs, striking their heads precisely and killing them in one blow.”
“To kill a cheetah with a single blow, could the assailant be a demon?” I touched the sunken spot on the cheetah’s skull. “It seems like another work of the Satan’s Cult.”
At this moment, Daji, who had been observing quietly, spoke up, “This wasn’t done by a demon but by a human.”
“A human?” I asked, surprised.
“Yes, even a newly transformed demon’s punch would have shattered the cheetah’s head completely,” Daji nodded and then pointed to the ground. “But this person is clearly not ordinary. A strong man could kill a beast with one punch, but facing three wild cheetahs at once would surely result in injuries. This person managed to do it without shedding a drop of blood, indicating extraordinary skills, possibly someone from the Satan’s Cult.”
I looked at the uneven rocky ground, and indeed, there was no trace of blood, only countless stones and sand.
“Senior, do you know of any person or demon associated with bats?” I asked, recalling the swarm of bats earlier.
Daji tilted her head in thought for a moment, then shook her head. “Forgive me, sir, I can’t think of anyone at the moment.”
“That’s alright, I have another way,” I said, walking towards the most intact cheetah corpse.
“What are you planning to do, Little Nuo?” Zicheng asked.
