Chapter 473: The Devil Strikes
“Liberación”
A whisper sounded in the wind. Before Nightshade and his assassins could make a move, their bodies fell to the ground, kneeling with such force that many of their knees were crushed into pieces of bone and cartilage.
Asura’s body drifted down; with two beautiful grey wings and four black wings, he landed beside Mu Cheng, a sword in his hand, while looking at enemies with a careful gaze.
“I wasn’t going to make a move, but somehow it felt like I should…” Asura spoke to Mu Cheng, feeling the same betrayal as he did once. There was a sense of companionship that had never existed before.
Thus, with the snap of his fingertips, dozens of the assassins exploded into blood mist, leaving only the Nightshade, who was now covered in countless wounds.
Mu Cheng gazed at him for a few moments, surprised as if questioning reality, then glancing back at Féng Mei, wondering how everything could change in a single instant. He loved this woman more than anything and wondered now about one thing.
‘Was it all fake? Did she just use me all this time?’
Féng Mei rushed forward, tears pouring down her eyes. It seemed like she was trying to bridge the gap and acted shameless, however this was only for Asura. He wouldn’t force Mu Cheng to accept or reject her for him.
Verana had the same feeling at the start, but if he knew she was really like this, then maybe they would have lived much happier.
“What do you plan to do with the cheating slut?” Asura asked, his black eyes with golden pupils striking fear into the knight, while his grey skin only reminded him of the angel that saved him.
Mu Cheng was the leader, yet he loved Féng Mei with all his heart. Betrayal or not, he would die for her and planned to.
However, seeing Asura arrive, something inside him stirred, the words of Féng Du making him even angrier, “You fucking bastards! You were going to kill us all from the beginning!”
This time, it was Nightshade speaking before he yanked the arm of Féng Mei away and into his chest. “Sorry, but this woman is mine. She is obsessed with me.”
The bloody sword of Asura appeared inches from his neck, not piercing the flesh but grazing it so lightly, like the kiss of death.
“Her life is up to him, and you are going to die slowly while telling me everything. ” Asura spoke coldly, his sword vibrating slightly before Nightshade made a swift turn, sending Féng Mei crashing to the
“Ugh?! You bastard, what is that power?”
With the sound of the wind, the assassin tossed poisoned daggers towards Mu Cheng, intending to kill him while escaping using this chance. However, as if guided by an invisible force, his hands stopped midway, unable to move, paralysed by a tremendous surge of power.
It was at this moment, just before Féng Mei hit the ground, she felt someone grab her arm and pull her to safety; the next moment, the entire area exploded into a black and red flaming cyclone. It was Asura’s magic. His lips curled into a wicked smile because he sensed guards rushing to their location.
‘More than a hundred soldiers are coming, hahaha!’ He chuckled inwardly at the fun awaiting them in the dark forest.
The explosion lasted for several minutes before dissipating completely. Standing amidst it all, Asura remained unharmed despite the raging fire.
While Nightshade’s body became ashes, his charred remains in the centre of the clearing, while Mu Cheng held the injured Féng Mei in his arms, her forehead bleeding and pale cheeks made him panic. “Oi… Mei, don’t do this. I can forgive everything if you survive, I promise!”
“Argh…. Uck…. it hurts….”
Oblivious to the two acting out a romantic drama, Asura held out his left palm towards the approaching cavalry, his eyes glowing with a vicious light as dozens of magic circles formed behind his back, a flaming spear materialising and hovering above him that doubled, tripled before close to fifty spears were burning away.
With another snap of his fingers, he unleashed his deadly attack: The flaming spears struck down in wave after wave; some pierced through multiple horsemen at once, causing cries of anguish across the battlefield. Then, the smell of charred flesh began filling their noses – there was no doubt this man was a monster from hell.
Mu Cheng held his doubtful lover while he lay on the ground, each explosion causing their bodies to bounce and leap around, while Asura just stood with a cold grin, shooting more and more magic at the warriors without caring for a limit or allowing them to survive.
“This is too easy… I wonder if this is all the empire has to offer?”
‘You monster… why? Why is there someone so strong in Silvara, but we have no one?!’
The jealous Mu Cheng closed his right fist, almost crushing a piece of stone. “That bastard can save me anytime he wishes! Yet why did he wait till everyone else died? Even if they betrayed me, I am sure we could have talked it out….”
However, no matter his internal conflicts, Asura never took a single glance at them. To him, the empire and resistance were the same. He just acted kind and gentle to them because he didn’t want Mu Xue and Mu Yue to become burdened and feel a sense of guilt towards him.
‘Or if they grew to hate me because of my cold heart…’

There were at least a hundred corpses just outside of the forest when everything became silent, and Asura let his form dissipate. His hair returned to the normal black and lowered, no longer half sticking up and becoming messy and spikey, his skin now with a beautiful tan along with his wine-red eyes.
“The enemy will come again, so let’s return while we can. Don’t trust your untested contacts anymore. There is a traitor in your resistance other than the girl.”
Before walking into the forest, his voice trailed off as Asura vanished into thin air.
“What?” Mu Cheng muttered softly, pulling himself together. With his lover unconscious in his arms, he realised everything was done quickly, leaving only death behind.
“I don’t think we can live a happy life if that man lives…” It was at this moment that the human fear of the unknown caused Mu Cheng’s personality to snap and transform.
However, why he saw Asura as an enemy was unknown at least at this moment.

Meanwhile, back at the base, Mu Xue and Mu Yue sat together while speaking about the future. The beautiful sisters wore the same outfit, and because of their invasion into the desert empire, they both wore a black wig to hide their existence in the city, causing them to look like identical twins.
“Mu Yue, how are you doing? Do you think this is what mother and father would want us to do?”
“I don’t know, and maybe they would prefer us to settle down. However, I can’t do that… even if I am to die doing so.” Mu Yue spoke blankly while turning her head away to not face Mu Xue directly. In fact, for the past month, since she saw Asura for the first time, she always felt awkward about him, yet she still craved his kiss like that moment they met.
‘How can I lust for my sister’s husband…?’
Mu Yue hated her feelings because her sister was loving and gentle and made everything troublesome. She wasn’t allowed to feel this way, yet even now, Mu Yue wished to speak with Asura and ask him about magic just to make topics to have him remain close.
Sensing something strange about Mu Yue, Mu Xue placed her arm over Mu Yue’s shoulder while also forcing them to make eye contact. “What are you thinking? You’re too gloomy lately.”
With a gulp, she tried to explain but could utter nothing, not a single word or lie that could help her escape. “Ahh… Sorry, it’s really nothing. Sister…”
“I won’t judge you, so just speak truthfully,” Mu Xue replied honestly.
Mu Yue smiled warmly and finally uttered her thoughts aloud: “I… I’ve met someone I like…”
As the words left her mouth, silence hung heavy in the room until Mu Xue jumped forward and hugged her little sister tightly, smiling at her as tears filled her eyes. “Oh… Yue, that is fantastic news!”
“Hmm?” Surprised by such a reaction, she had thought it would have been jealousy and anger. Mu Xue kissed her cheeks softly, and the two held each other gently.
“However, why were you struggling to tell me?” Mu Xue asked curiously, rubbing their noses together cutely and feeling love towards her little sister.
“Ahaha.. Well… How do I explain this? It is someone you also know closely,” Mu Yue replied, her eyes downcast but a small smile creeping onto her lips as she felt Mu Xue’s hands jolt and stiffen for a moment before returning to normal.
“I see… are they handsome?”
“Mhm, very.”
“Then, do they treat you well?”
“Eh~ a little, he’s kinda fun to be around but also likes to tease me.”
‘Stop Mu Yue… how can you answer so honestly? Who else could this be other than Asura?!’
The moment those thoughts ran through Mu Yue’s head, she glanced at Mu Xue’s face. She flushed red and became nervous, unable to look away anymore as she gazed deeply into those eyes she knew too well.
“I see… so you’ve fallen for him after all. I thought it would take longer….”
“W-What?!”
‘Does she know it’s her husband?! What do I do?’ Mu Yue was in panic mode while trying to act normally. However, with Mu Xue’s arms around her waist, hugging her closely, it was too hard to breathe normally or keep a steady beat in her heart.
“Don’t worry, although it makes me a little annoyed. Husband told me about mistaking you for me when he first met you, and that kiss was the start right? I can still remember our first kiss… after that moment, my feelings became stronger, and I couldn’t hide behind being only his maid anymore.”
“But Sister, I cannot hurt you… or betray you… I can seal these feelings…”
Mu Yue was a gentle girl at heart, though she liked Asura, the love for Mu Xue was greater. After all, this sister cared for her, raised her from children and finally returned to her after she thought she had died.
Suddenly Mu Xue shook her head, grabbing both of Mu Yue’s hands into her own.
“Do not force anything, and go with your heart. It’s not like I have one or two rivals… if you cannot forget him, then we should work together and make sure his heart lies with the Mu family instead of those other women!” Mu Xue said it so sweetly.
So Mu Yue could hear nothing wrong about her comment until a chill came down her spine, and she questioned who the real big bad wolf was here. “S-Sister… why does it feel you knew or planned for me to eventually…”
“Haha~ because I did. That idiot husband of mine cannot keep his hands off pretty women, especially ones with devil’s blood in them. I am more shocked he didn’t sleep with you yet, though Lucia is an excellent guard dog.”
“Hmph~ I just love Asura. Don’t insult me when I am not here!” Lucia stepped from the shadow of Mu Yue with a black leather outfit and two daggers at her waist.
