Chapter 494: The Fallen Empire
Meanwhile, after Asura began to ensure a peaceful alliance, the eastern continent was about to be set ablaze. All thanks to one man’s insatiable greed and lust for his niece.
In a stunning castle, on the ridges of a black mountaintop, sat a pristine and regal construction. A place known as the Obsidian Fortress.
‘It seems that bitch is carrying another man’s seed… what should I do?!’
Legend had it that the second emperor used his scales to build the fortress before his death. A black dragon who fell in love with a bronze dragon and abandoned his roost.
Purple flames lit the eerie walls, void of living creatures…
Now, undead corpses and skeletons skittered and clattered their bones around the insane ruler.
‘Ah… this palace no longer has people who make fun of me, or ignore my voice!’
“I am the ruler—this castle is the place where I will make her mine!”
A male stood atop the daunting black garrison walls, seven metres above the ground, his all-seeing gaze watching the city below.
To his dull purple eyes, nothing but specks of dirt, mere ants.
‘I didn’t send her to that academy to fall in love…’
His face was pale, and there was no blood pumping through his veins anymore, for he had already fallen to insanity and made a deal.
‘Fuck, the useless prince died… then that eastern fool failed to destroy the earl’s strength.’
A deal with the abyssal monarch who ruled over death.
He held a purple crystal that shone with a luminescent light, glowing to create a small holographic image of two people in a forest…
“Now, I learn that my cute and beautiful Xavida is going to give birth… How foolish!”
A face twisted with jealousy and lust, his hand stroking his lifeless crotch. The uncle and current reagent of the Demon Empire…
He felt a sense of irritation, inferiority and anger upon looking at the magical image that hovered atop the crystal in his hand…
The scene of Xavida being pounded from behind in a forest by Asure many months ago.
Now played on repeat.
‘Why….’
‘Why….’
“WHY IS IT NOT ME?!”
Anduil’s roar echoed through the mountain range, yet nobody heard his scream of despair.
“If I cannot have her, nobody will!”
The moment he learned of her pregnancy and that he could never compare to the Prince of Silvara, Anduil abandoned his goals and became obsessed with an old tome.
He seemed to turn mad overnight; his hair started to fall, and the few scales that his thin bloodline gave him peeled and vanished.
“Blessed be the undying one! I shall slay thee in his name! O’Death forgive my ignorance and come for mine enemy!”
Nobody understood what happened…
Even if the lord was once aggressive and took maids to his chamber, it was never to the same level after he found that book.

A jealous man filled with inferiority to his brother, a true dragon. He began to kill and offer the maids and soldiers to this being. A sacrifice of his ego and filthy desires.
“Ahh~ finally their screaming ended… I am free from their cursing and judgement.”
A skeleton with blue flames flickering in its eye sockets, considering their frayed and bloody maid outfit.
She must have been a victim of his rage.
“Haa… then, shall we invade Silvara. That pretentious duchess also seems to be carrying his seed.”
“Oh, Prince of Silvara… since you took my previous Xavida. I shall kill everything that you ever considered important: a friend, an acquaintance, lover, family, fiancée, your wife and, of course, those vermin you call your people!”
The madness inside Anduil’s eyes grew fierce, the dull purple colour losing saturation, turning grey. It seemed that each time he used this power to control death…
Part of what was once his existence also died.
“All of them shall burn, and die in agony! Hahahahaahahaha!”
But for all that mattered…
The dark armies of the demon empire would soon reach the coasts of the beautiful Silvaran shores.

—Three weeks after the destruction of the Emerald Empire
Along the coast of Drakkur, meeting the land of the Phoenix Glade. Verana and Verena sat on the grand battleship of their family, surrounded by a grand fleet of warships armed with dwarven mana cannons and barriers.
“Dear sister, do you have any information from the east… news of Asura?”
A lovely yet scratchy voice. The beautiful woman with dark red hair sat on the edge of the hull, kicking her legs while watching the horizon.
“Verena… there was nothing; mother was also struggling with morning sickness.”
Verana looked at her sister, a changed woman now in an army uniform styled like a pirate, her curly hair cut short and tied in a ponytail.
Now, it would be difficult to compare them side by side.
‘After she became an admiral, Verena changed so much. However… her love for Asura didn’t fade.’
‘I feel she will win his heart now that she doesn’t act like a wretch.’
The younger sister, once bound to the elder’s shadow, looked free. A face filled with wonder and eyes glistening with ambition and delight.
“Sister, there is no way he died. I can feel it, though I do not know how to explain it… I can feel his presence, like a vision just on the edge of the horizon.”
Verena turned to her sister, now feeling affection towards her family after finding her voice and what she desired. “Please, believe me! I know he is out there and I must find him!”
Many thought it to be a shame, a dirty blot on the Drakkur Dutchy, for all women to love the same man, mother and two sisters.
Yet to the women in question, one of them who waited for him for over two thousand years, the thoughts of others didn’t matter, in fact.
The more people made a deal over their relationship, the happier they felt.
“Prepare the cannons, maintain the barrier. Enemy ships on the horizon!”
Verena called out, her eyes glowing with a red light.
“Sister, please head back to land and watch your little shadow perform!”
‘You’ve really grown… Verena.’
The black-haired duchess who took over her mother’s title shrugged her shoulders. Verana couldn’t help but admire her sister as she watched her appear on several ships at once.
‘Using your ability to order the ships in tandem…’
“My sister, maybe you were a genius all along. I wish you a good battle… don’t get hurt.”
Verana’s body flickered, a shadowy aura appearing before she vanished. The lovely Admiral looked towards the space, her mouth open slightly, and her cheeks blushed.
It was rare…
No, it was actually the first time her sister complimented her with such honesty.
“Sister… thank you!”
However, today would be the first time the Drakkur fleet would face a foe that couldn’t die. An unstoppable force which caused the Drakkur fleet to suffer their first Naval loss in the past five months.
The Necrotic Tide was upon the kingdom of Silvara
With a single goal.
Annihilation.

“Are you sure you must leave?!”
A soft voice filled with concern.
The elven princess and her beautiful face marred with worry, her thoughts carried back to when he arrived wounded and unconscious.
‘Celine’s lovely eyes tell me how upset she is.’
‘I know she wants to grasp my hand and never let me leave.’
“Forgive me Celine, you know I would not leave you without reason… I promise to come back soon.”
He tried to calm her, a slight consolation. Yet her hands grasped his shoulders, her wet eyes gazing up at him as she suddenly shouted at him.
“That is not the issue here, Asura!”
It wasn’t like a beast’s roar, but this was the most aggressive Celine ever spoke.
He could feel her heart.
To show her hidden feelings, something she normally kept hidden. Celine’s eyes were like gemstones glistening in the sun. Yet he could feel it, the deep agony and thoughts of his demise that lingered inside them.
“You are worried, that I might be hurt?”
“What wife wouldn’t?!”
“You’re right… I am too used to getting everything my way. Forgive me, Celine.”
“I know it’s selfish… I understand that you have to go!”
Celine paused for a moment, her hands touching his cheeks—a delicate and fragile woman who became a powerful warrior.
All thanks to his support.
It was because of this that she wished to do the same. To support Asura, but he refused her offer.
“But I…”
“I cannot take you, why do you think I am leaving Mu Xue and Spica here…”
Asura’s hands grasped Celine’s soft fingers, caressing and interlocking them together. He could only give her a bitter smile.
‘After all… my bad habit of sleeping around and falling too easily backfired.’
‘I do not want to leave this lovely princess…’
‘Yet I must.’
“I love you Celine, and I swear on the world tree embedded into my body and soul. That I will return to you, and see our child’s birth.”
“No matter what?”
Her soft and lovely voice asked. A pretty face with big eyes is looking up at Asura, begging and pleading with her gaze. Yet, ultimately, she accepted his choice.
“No matter what!”
“Nn… then I will let you go, but please… don’t get hurt. I don’t want to see you like that again!”
Asura’s arms wrapped around the fragile back, yet these thin shoulders carried an entire empire on her back.
Those subtle feelings from her loving heart supported him as he took a deep breath.
“Shall we, watch the sun setting together tonight?”
A question he knew she couldn’t refuse—tomorrow, he might not remain here, leaving with the resistance and Mu Yue… Asura would return to Silvara.
‘To think I could gain the love and affection of such a pure and wonderful being.’
‘I cannot let her down, nor make her cry again.’
“Mm… I would love to, my dear husband.”
The pair didn’t know what the world would have in store for them. Yet their hands held tight, and gazes focused on each other.
Asura and Celine did not care.
At least for tonight…
