Chapter 120: Creating a Golem
Max smiled faintly, his tone calm. “Then do your best.”
Alex’s grin widened, his confidence unshaken. “Don’t mind if I do.”
Without hesitation, Alex sprinted toward Max, flames igniting around his hands and forming into two blazing swords. The air rippled with heat as he neared, slashing down in a crisscross motion aimed directly at Max.
Max stood firm, his expression unchanging as he released his Level 1 Flame Aura.
A sudden surge of intense, fiery intent erupted from Max’s body, radiating outward like a wave. The force of his aura created a small shockwave that sent the dust and leaves swirling in the air.
The shockwave hit Alex mid-swing, the sheer force of it hurling him backward like a ragdoll. His flaming swords dissipated as he tumbled across the ground, eventually coming to a stop with a grunt of effort.
Alex coughed, picking himself up slowly. His expression wavered between shock and disbelief. “What the hell was that?” he muttered, his confidence visibly shaken.
Max glanced at him. “Level 1 Flame Aura. Unless you comprehend that, you are no match for me.” He turned to the other five. “That goes for all of you. Master Level 1 Flame Aura first, then come challenge me.”
With those words, he silently left the open field and headed toward his house.
“Damn it,” Alex cursed aloud, his frustration clear as he clenched his fists. Seeing Max defeat him so effortlessly was a hard pill to swallow. He had always been the strongest genius in the Apprentice Rank, yet here he stood, utterly outclassed. There had been no contest.
“I’m going to train,” Alex declared, turning abruptly and storming off without waiting for a response.
Anton watched him leave, his expression calm yet thoughtful. Turning to the remaining four, he addressed them in a firm tone. “What you just witnessed is the level of strength Max possesses. I’m sure you’re all wondering—how can someone at only Level 3 of the Apprentice Rank be this powerful?”
The group nodded hesitantly, the question hanging in the air.
“The answer is simple,” Anton continued, his voice steady. “Max has mastered two auras—Flame Aura and Sword Aura—both to the peak of Level 1. On top of that, his mastery over his skills has reached an extraordinary level. He doesn’t rely solely on raw power; his precision and control are what make him truly exceptional.”
He paused for a moment, letting the weight of his words sink in before adding, “I brought you all here to meet him for a reason. To open your eyes. Max is a real genius, the kind that stands leagues above the so-called geniuses in other guilds. Yes, they are strong, but can any of them compare to Max? The answer is no—they can’t even come close.”
Anton’s gaze swept across the group, his tone turning sharper. “Change your perspective. Adjust your goals. Don’t waste your time chasing after mediocrity. Chase after someone like Max while he’s still within your reach. Because if you don’t—if you let him slip away—you’ll be left far behind, staring at a figure you can no longer catch.”
The four of them nodded in response, though their reactions varied. Some seemed half-convinced, while others remained skeptical, their pride refusing to yield completely. Anton observed them carefully, noting their expressions, but this had been his intention all along.
These so-called geniuses had grown too comfortable in their titles, confident that they stood at the pinnacle of the Apprentice Rank. But meeting Max had shattered that illusion, delivering a blow to their self-assurance.
‘Rise from this, and you will soar. Fall, and you will plunge deeper into the abyss,’ Anton thought grimly, his sharp gaze lingering on each of them for a moment.
Breaking the silence, he said, “You are all dismissed.”
With those words, Anton’s figure slowly faded into nothingness, disappearing from the field and leaving the four standing alone in a charged silence.

Max was back in his house, his eyes glancing at the items in front of him in his training room.
Before him lay rocks and stones, a bathtub-sized tub full of lava, and many other things.
He had a list in his hand and checked each time to ensure he had everything he needed.
“I am ready for my little experiment with a golem,” Max muttered in excitement.
These past seven days, while waiting for Alice to recover, aside from eating and training, he had read hundreds of books about golems and similar topics.
The guild library had many books about golems, even different types of golems. However, they weren’t as extensive as the research books he had obtained from the mad scientist.
But that didn’t mean there was nothing useful. The books did contain general outlines of all golems, their weaknesses, and so on.
After reading all those books, Max came to a certain conclusion. The research of Daniel Winchester on golems was severely limited; however, when it came to Lava Golems or Rock Golems, the information was complete.

This led Max to believe that he could follow that research and create a true golem.
Moreover, after reading the research books on golems written by Ralph Thorne himself, any missing knowledge that he had previously lacked was now completely fulfilled. He believed he was ready to create a golem of his own.
“Let’s begin.” Max first placed the rocks and stones in the tub full of lava. Then, he immediately infused his Flame Aura into the lava, causing the temperature of the lava to lower slightly, ensuring it didn’t melt the rocks.
Afterward, he arranged the bigger rocks as the base for the waist, smaller rocks to form the limbs, and a large rock for the head.
‘Now the most important part,’ Max thought as he took out a core of Adept Rank.
Taking out his brush, he began copying the runes a core from a lava golem usually possessed. It took him a full half hour to do that.
‘It’s done.’ Max sweated, but he finally completed drawing the runes on the core.
Holding the core in his hand, Max used the Life String flame ability he had obtained from his Dimension of Flame after using his incomplete Flame Creation flames. The core began to blaze in flames, but it didn’t harm the runes or the core itself.
‘The last step.’ After that, Max slapped the core hard onto the base of the golem’s waist and waited.
Time ticked on, but nothing seemed to happen for a while, causing Max to frown. Just at that moment, all the lava in the tub started decreasing at an alarming rate, while the rocks and golem began transforming.
Max’s eyes shone when he saw that, and he waited.
Some time later, the transformation was finally complete.
A complete rock or lava golem lay in the tub before him.
However, this golem before him was the exact replica of Daniel Winchester’s golem.
“Move.” Max commanded with his soul power, but nothing happened.
He had expected it. Since it was the exact replica of the golem the mad scientist created, it faced the same problem. Both golems couldn’t move.
However, Max had an answer to that, unlike the mad scientist.
He took out a rune brush and began drawing runes on the surface of the golem. He started from the core to its head, then to its limbs, and finally back to the core.
Following that, Max extended his hand, and a flame began to blaze in it, the flames of Life Threads. “Everything depends on you, buddy,” he muttered slowly, bringing the flame down to the core and letting it enter inside.
Almost instantly, the runes he had drawn a moment before began to shine with golden light all over the golem’s body.
Just after that, golem stood up and turned to Max.
