Chapter 142: Gathering of Peak Geniuses
Fourth Floor, Temple of Divine.
At this moment, eleven figures stood in an empty hall surrounded by brick walls. The room was completely barren except for the eleven figures, who stood waiting with impatient expressions on their faces.
One thing remained constant among the eleven: all of them were at the 9th or 10th level of Adept Rank.
“That blob mentioned a trial for those who want to ascend to the fifth floor at level 4, but all I see are geniuses from all over the Valora Continent… What is this all about?” Bruce asked, turning to a calm lady wearing shining white armor with her eyes closed.
Amelia opened her eyes and glanced at Bruce. “I don’t know. I was told the same thing, and that’s why I’m here,” she replied calmly, her voice devoid of any emotion.
Bruce frowned as he heard her response and turned to glance at the other geniuses present in the hall. After seeing some of them, his frown deepened.
“Those two from the Monarch are here too?” Bruce’s expression darkened when he saw Five and Veylin in the hall.
Amelia opened her eyes and surveyed the hall. “They aren’t the only ones we should be wary of. There are other geniuses from other regions as well. We from the East are in higher numbers here, but I can’t be sure of our strength,” she said calmly.
“Don’t whisper among yourselves; we can all hear you,” a man with spiked black hair, a sword strapped to his back, shouted loudly. He was leaning against the wall with a grin on his face.
Glancing at the geniuses from the East Region, his face lit up with madness. “If fighting wasn’t forbidden here, I would love to swing my sword or two against you guys.”
He added with a genuine smile, “Of course, a friendly battle.” However, his wild smile suggested otherwise.
Bruce turned his head away, ignoring him.
“Don’t think too much. Just wait like the others,” Amelia said to Bruce before closing her eyes and resting her back against the wall.
Bruce sighed and waited as well.
On the other side, Veylin walked towards a young man with golden hair, who was seated on the floor with a large spread of food in front of him.
Sensing someone’s approach, the golden-haired young man cautiously turned toward Veylin. “If you’re here for my food, just forget it,” he said, glaring at him.
Veylin smiled wryly and shook his head. “No, I don’t want your food. I want your expertise.”
The golden-haired young man nodded in relief. “About what?” he asked, taking a slice of pizza and beginning to eat.
Veylin pointed toward a lady standing somewhere in the hall. She wore a mask from the Black Lotus Guild. “Do you know who she is, Crown Prince Aelric?”
Aelric turned to look at the young woman in the mask and nodded. “If I’m not mistaken, she’s from the Black Lotus Guild of the East Region. Her code name should be Lin.”
Veylin nodded, somewhat impressed by the abilities of the Crown Prince of the West. “Do you know her weakness?” he asked.
Aelric chewed on his pizza before turning to Veylin. “I don’t know,” he shrugged.
“Oh, come on,” Veylin sneered with a knowing smile. “Everyone on the entire Valora Continent has heard of your abilities. Don’t back off now. Tell me something.”
Taking another bite of pizza, Aelric glanced at Veylin. “It won’t be free,” he said with a greedy smile.
“Money isn’t the issue here,” Veylin replied.
Aelric’s smile widened. “Then we could arrange something here.”
Both Aelric and Veylin smiled at each other for two entirely different reasons.

Max sat in front of a chunk of lightning rock, his body bathed in a deep blue glow as tendrils of lightning, like snakes, crawled around him.
At the same time, a very deadly intent radiated from his body. It was so sharp that it felt as though it could burst out at any moment. But Max’s control over it was at the pinnacle level, so despite the unstable nature of the intent, which could go berserk at any time, he remained in full control.

“How’s the training going?” Just then, someone interrupted Max.
Max knew there could only be one person who would disturb him—everyone else was either comprehending inside the monolith or taking trials to ascend to the third floor.
Turning his head, he saw the blob of slime smiling at him.
“What do you want?” Max asked in a foul mood. He had been interrupted in the middle of his training, which he definitely didn’t appreciate. After training peacefully for years in his Dimension of Time, he had grown quite attached to the serene environment.
The blob noticed Max’s foul look and said, “An offer, especially for you.”
“What is it?” Max asked, frowning. “It better be worth interrupting me in the middle of my training.”
The blob smirked. “Oh, I know you’ll love this offer.”
Max became intrigued. “Go on.”
The blob smiled and said, “Remember the fourth and fifth floors?” he asked, grinning as he continued, “There’s a trial that will soon begin on the fourth floor. Contestants from all over the Valora Continent will take part, but only one of them will have the chance to enter the fifth floor.”
The blob added with a greedy smile, “My master’s inheritance is waiting for a fateful genius to claim it on the fifth floor. But no one has ever managed to enter the fifth floor because the trial on the fourth floor has always been too difficult, even for the five geniuses who reached the peak of the monolith.”
He grinned. “But this time, the difficulty of the trial has been reduced to such a level that one genius is sure to make it to the fifth floor after the trial.”
“So, are you interested?” The blob asked.
Max contemplated. He wouldn’t lie—he was somewhat tempted by the inheritance of the temple’s master. Since he had already acquired the Ten Hands of Lightning God technique, he wanted to see if there were more treasures in the temple. The only place where he could find such treasures was the fifth floor.
‘I’ve already comprehended the level 2 Auras of Sword, Flame, and Lightning,’ Max mused. ‘But there’s still something else I must do before I enter the trial on the fourth floor.’
Glancing at the blob, he asked, “How long until the trial starts?”
The blob smiled slyly. “Only one more individual is needed to start the trial, and I’ve chosen you.”
Max chuckled. “Then give me two more hours. After that, I’ll follow you into the fourth floor.”
The blob smiled. “Two hours it is.” With those words, the blob flew away, leaving Max behind.
‘Two hours? Two years? That’s enough time to learn the Ten Hands of Lightning God technique and the Momentum Sword technique,’ Max thought, smiling as he sat cross-legged and entered his Dimension of Time.
