Chapter 416: Level 6 of Adept Rank
Max suddenly found himself standing at the very back of an enormous hall, so vast it made the previous floors of the Tower of Truth feel like mere chambers in comparison.
The moment his feet touched the ground, he was surrounded by a sea of people—hundreds, no, possibly thousands—roaming across the space, talking, shouting, watching, and moving with purpose.
Members of the three main races—humans, elves, and demons—were scattered all across the hall, each gathering in their own clusters, their energies filling the air with a palpable sense of tension and excitement.
From where Max stood, he could see that the hall was divided into three main sections, clearly defined by the density and focus of the crowds. Directly in front of him, at the far end of the hall, stood a towering black monolith, ancient and mysterious, with numerous people surrounding it as if trying to decipher or interact with it.
Off to the side, he could see a grand arena—massive and circular—where a fight had just concluded and another was about to begin. Roars erupted from that direction, echoing against the tall stone walls.
And toward the very back of the hall, opposite the entrance, was a long corridor filled with dozens of sealed doors, each surrounded by small groups of experts, some entering, some leaving, and many waiting for their turn.
These three areas—the monolith, the arena, and the door-lined corridor—were where the crowd was thickest, the energy most intense.
Max’s eyes widened as he took in the sheer scale of it all. “This floor is too big!” he muttered, turning slowly to look around.
“It is indeed big,” Princess Lenavira replied beside him, her eyes also scanning the vastness with casual familiarity.
Just then, Max felt a shift in his pocket and instinctively reached for his Essence Stone.
WHOOM!
It flared to life the moment it was exposed to the air, erupting in a cascade of glowing golden particles that flowed and pulsed like stardust. The light wasn’t faint or subtle—Max’s entire hand was engulfed in the radiant glow, and the dense energy that swirled around the stone was nearly blinding. He could feel it soaking into his skin, his veins humming in response.
“That’s your accumulated points,” Lenavira said with a small smile. “You remained unchallenged till the ninth floor, and so the points from floor 1 to floor 9… it’s all converted into this. With what you’ve gathered, you should be able to reach the peak of Adept Rank—if not at least level eight or nine.”
“I could reach the peak of Adept Rank…” Max murmured, eyes shining with a sharp glint as his mind raced through the possibilities. That kind of leap would skyrocket his combat ability, especially now that he had full control over his Infernal Demon Transformation.
But just then, a familiar voice rang out in his mind, sharp and clear. “Kid, don’t level up too fast. You know what’s at stake.” It was Blob—his ever-watchful companion, speaking with rare seriousness.
‘I know.’ Max replied internally, his gaze lowering for a moment. He did know. Better than anyone.
Turning to Lenavira, he asked, “Can I use this Essence Stone only inside the Tower of Truth? Or… can I use it elsewhere too?”
“You can use it anywhere,” Lenavira replied with a nod. “The energy within belongs to you. The tower only helps you gather it faster.”
Max gave a small nod to himself, then closed his eyes and began absorbing a portion of the Life Essence stored within the Essence Stone.
As the golden particles swirled around his hand and poured into his body like liquid sunlight, he felt a rush of warmth flood his limbs—a steady, empowering force that expanded through his core and pushed gently against the walls of his current cultivation level.
The energy wasn’t violent or overwhelming, just incredibly pure, like a river flowing through him with purpose.
Then, a soft chime echoed in his mind, followed by two crisp notifications that floated in front of his vision.
[Congratulations to Max Voidwalker for leveling up to level 5 of Adept Rank.]

Opening his eyes, Max allowed a faint smile to curl at the edge of his lips. That was enough—for now. He could have continued, could have easily pushed further with the sheer abundance of energy packed into the Essence Stone, but he chose not to.
He placed the Essence Stone back, the golden glow dimming slightly as it returned to rest.
Beside him, Princess Lenavira glanced at him, her gaze sharp, observant. She had clearly noticed the subtle rise in his strength, the way his aura had shifted—stronger now, denser, more refined. But she didn’t say a word.
She knew about Max’s soul—how dangerous it could be if pushed too far. And seeing that he had chosen to ascend by only two levels despite holding the potential for more, she understood without needing to ask. It was a wise choice. A rare kind of restraint most experts never learned until it was too late.
“People here aren’t as enthusiastic about my battle as the ones on the first floor,” Max said as he walked forward, his voice low and steady, eyes scanning the crowd around him.
The atmosphere was drastically different—there were no jeers, no pointed fingers, no gasps of recognition. The experts here were composed, their expressions calm and reserved, most of them standing in quiet groups or simply watching the arena with disinterest. It was as if his presence barely stirred the air around them.

“That’s because everyone here is at the peak of Seeker Rank,” Princess Lenavira replied beside him, her tone equally subdued. “They don’t really care to watch someone fight who hasn’t even reached their level. To them, a human genius like you—still in the Adept Rank—is just… background noise.”
“Yeah, makes sense,” Max muttered, nodding thoughtfully. He couldn’t really blame them. For people who stood just a step away from Expert Rank, it was only natural to view those beneath them with indifference.
