Chapter 492: Use of Authority
“I don’t believe you have such power over the tower!” a booming voice shattered the silence, drawing every gaze toward its source.
A hulking demon stepped forward—Greg, the 2nd Seat of the demon race. His skin was a deep, blazing red, his body armored in darkened scale-like skin, and two jagged horns curved upward from his skull like spears ready to impale the sky. His presence alone was oppressive, radiating the aura of a seasoned warrior and a symbol of authority among his kind.
“He’s bluffing,” Greg snarled, his crimson eyes glaring at Max with defiance. “You may have some recognition from the tower, but no one—no one in history—has ever had the power to ban an entire race from the Tower of Truth. Do you expect us to believe that a human not even of Seeker Rank can wield such a ridiculous authority?”
Murmurs spread like wildfire through the crowd of demons.
“He might be right,” one demon whispered, voice tinged with cautious hope.
“It sounds impossible. Not even Drevon could do such a thing.” Another nodded in agreement, clinging to that logic.
“Yeah, Max is strong, terrifying even… but this? Permanent expulsion from the tower? It sounds made up.”
With Greg stepping forward to confront Max, the tide of demon doubt rose. Their fear began to twist into denial, into false confidence, and for a brief moment, they allowed themselves to believe that Max was bluffing—that his power was limited, his authority exaggerated.
They reasoned, they hoped, they clung to the idea that the Tower of Truth was beyond even someone like Max. But deep inside, where fear lingered like poison in their veins, none of them could shake the cold sweat forming at the back of their necks.
What if he was telling the truth?
Max simply shrugged, unfazed by their denial and arrogance. “I don’t care if you believe me or not,” he said flatly, his voice cold and absolute.
Then, without warning, he raised his right hand and casually pointed it toward the group of demons, who instinctively recoiled, their bodies tensing as if bracing for some incoming force. Their bravado faltered, cracks of uncertainty forming in their expressions.
And then Max spoke, his tone like a decree written into the fabric of reality itself. “Expel and ban all the demons from entering the Tower of Truth.” The words echoed, not through sound alone, but through the very space of the tower.
In the blink of an eye, a ripple of golden energy surged from Max’s hand—silent, majestic, irreversible. The demons didn’t even have time to scream. One by one, they vanished, as if the tower itself rejected their existence.
Those on the tenth floor flickered out of sight, panic frozen on their faces. Those training below vanished mid-sparring, mid-step, mid-thought. Even the prodigies secluded deep within the Chamber of Concepts, bathing in the rare light of understanding, were suddenly and forcefully ripped away from their enlightenment and thrown out.
Every single demon—without exception—was erased from the Tower of Truth in an instant. The silence that followed was thunderous, like the stillness after a divine judgment.
Max lowered his hand slowly, his expression unreadable, while everyone else remained frozen in stunned disbelief. The impossible had just happened.

Just outside the grand, towering entrance of the Tower of Truth, chaos erupted as thousands of demons suddenly fell from the sky like scattered raindrops, crashing down onto the rocky plains that surrounded the sacred structure.
They hit the ground in clusters—some tumbling, some landing hard, others crying out in shock and confusion. It was as if the sky had rejected them, throwing them out without explanation.
Panic set in among the younger demons, while the stronger ones scrambled to regain composure, their eyes wide, darting around as they tried to make sense of what had just happened.
Most of them had no idea what had gone wrong. One moment, they were engaged in their usual activities—fighting in the battle arenas, spectating duels, meditating in silence, or simply walking the halls of the ancient tower—and in the next moment, the world shifted beneath their feet and they were free-falling through the air. Bewilderment turned to alarm. Confusion gave way to fear.
Only a handful, the ones who had been on the tenth floor just moments ago, understood the terrifying truth of what had happened. Their expressions darkened, some clenched their fists in silent fury, others paled as realization settled like ice in their veins.
But even then there were some who refused to believe that Max could actually ban them from entering the tower.
“I don’t believe it,” Greg muttered, fury bubbling beneath his red skin as he marched forward toward the tower’s entrance. His heavy footsteps echoed as he stepped closer, muscles tensed, eyes burning.
But the moment he attempted to cross the threshold, an invisible force struck him like a hammer to the chest. His massive body slammed against the unseen barrier and rebounded backwards, staggering him.
“No! How could this be?!” Greg roared, his voice booming as he clenched his fists and unleashed a furious punch at the invisible wall.
Bang!
The sound echoed, but the barrier didn’t even ripple. Not a crack, not a dent. Nothing. He punched again. And again. Each strike echoed with hopelessness, the strength of a peak-level demon bouncing off like raindrops against steel.
His breath grew heavy, his fists bloodied from his own effort, but the wall remained unmoved. His fury drained, replaced by something far more crushing—despair.

He dropped to his knees right before the sealed entrance, eyes wide, fists trembling. “How could this be?” he whispered, his voice raw and broken.
Other demons, seeing Greg’s attempt, rushed forward in panic. They too tried. Some with brute force, others attempting to slip through, cast shadow spells, teleportation—every method they could muster.
But nothing worked. Each and every one of them was stopped cold by the same invisible, unrelenting force. Gasps turned into cries. Shouts turned into silence.
“Max… he truly banned us…”
“No! What happens to us now?!”
“We’re locked out forever…?”
“Without the tower… our race will fall behind. We won’t survive this age.”
“How did this happen? He was dead… How could he have the power to do this?!”
Their voices mixed with disbelief and horror, echoing in the air like a dirge. One by one, the proud demons collapsed before the entrance, staring up at the unreachable tower that once welcomed them, now forever closed.
They weren’t just locked out of a building—they were locked out of the future. And they could do nothing but despair.
For the first time in the history of the tower, an entire race had been barred from entering, and now the towering monument loomed before them like a divine gate that would never again open its doors to them.
The demons stared at its sealed entrance, thousands of faces twisted in disbelief, anger, despair—and above all, helplessness.

Back in tower, Max moved his eyes towards the humans. “Xolo, can you recognise those humans from the Sun Faction?” He asked in his mind.
“I can differentiate between the two factions if you are asking.” Xolo replied.
“Good.” Max’s expression turned fierce. He didn’t forget how despite being a human Nova joined forces with demons and chose to ally himself with Drevon.
“Expel and ban the humans from the Sun Faction from entering the tower until I say so.” Max said ruthlessly.
“It’s done.” Xolo replied.
“Good.” Max smiled seeing some humans gathered before then just vanished in front of his eyes.
“There you are,” suddenly a voice suddenly cut through the stillness behind him, casual and a bit amused. Max turned, startled by the familiar tone, and his eyes landed on a crack shimmering behind him like a rift in space. From it, the voice spoke again, clearer this time.
“Hey Max, it’s me—Lucien. Come to my room. There’s someone I want you to meet. Someone who can help with your… soul problem.”
