Chapter 58: What a monster…
“What is it? Are you giving up?” the bald-headed man asked, his tone carrying a slight sneer.
Max shook his head and pointed toward the arena. “Will I get the cores of the monsters I kill?” he asked innocently.
“Huh?” The bald-headed man was taken aback by Max’s question and turned to Ryan beside him.
Ryan smiled. “The monsters outside the dungeon don’t drop anything, so we’d have to manually retrieve the cores. It’ll take time, but we can do it. However, you’re not qualified to claim the cores from the monsters you kill.”
Max raised an eyebrow, smirking. “And how does one become qualified?”
Ryan thought for a moment. “Only those who break the record for the highest number of kills are offered the cores. Otherwise, no one qualifies.”
A bright smile spread across Max’s face. He had expected the qualification to be something arduous or complex, but it turned out to be surprisingly simple.
“Kid, you’re smiling strangely… Are you really confident you can break the record?” Ryan asked, chuckling at Max’s gleeful expression.
Max glanced at him, smirking. “I won’t just break the record. I’ll set a new one—a record that will become everyone’s goal for generations to come.”
“Such confidence from someone at level 6 in Novice Rank,” Ryan remarked with a chuckle. “You must have a high-level skill in bragging, but I won’t judge.” He gestured toward the arena. “If you’ve got nothing else to say, you’ll be teleported in five seconds.”
“Just teleport me,” Max said.
“I like that confidence,” Ryan said, turning to the bald-headed man, who tapped his holowatch, causing Max to disappear before them and appeared in the arena.
Max stared at the clock ticking down and prepared himself. ‘It’s time to go all out.’ He thought, his eyes pure calm as he activated the Infernal Coating skill and Three Dimensional Body skill.
Both his arms down to his elbow burst forth in flames and a moment later they covered itself in pure lava like coating of flames. One couldn’t even see the flames anymore but could notice the red hot coating on both his hands was even more dangerous than flames.
‘He is strong for someone at level 6 but could he be so strong that he could slaughter 100 monsters at level 100?’ Lyra’s mind raced with thoughts as she saw the flames coating on Max’s arms. It was because of this skill that he defeated Eren.
Eren also saw that and gritted his teeth but he refused to believe that Max could kill a hundred monsters with that skill alone. It was simply impossible.
‘This kid’s flame related skills sure are strong.’ Ryan thought seeing the flames coating Max’s arms but seeing no weapons or any other techniques he doubted if Max could kill even one with his level 6 Novice Rank.
Max at this moment had completely forgotten about everything else happening around him and focused his entire mind on the timer above him.
Just when the countdown reach 10, 9, 8…
Max activated the strength of the 6 Draconic Essences, a surge of primal, unrestrained power roaring through his veins. The raw strength was overwhelming, yet he felt sharper, more controlled than the last time he had dared to unleash it.
His muscles pulsed with energy, and his senses sharpened to a razor’s edge. He gritted his teeth in anticipation as the countdown ticked to zero.
Swish! Swish! Swish!…
The arena came alive as monsters began to materialize. One, then two, then ten… A hundred beasts spawned in the blink of an eye, their grotesque forms filling the arena with deafening roars and bloodthirsty intent.
Max moved before any of them could react. Activating Swift Dash at level 30, he became a blur of motion, closing the gap between himself and the nearest creature in an instant.
Bang!
His fist, wreathed in blazing flames from Infernal Coating, struck the first monster with such force that its body detonated, shards of flesh and bone igniting into embers as they scattered.
Before the fiery remains could hit the ground, Max had already vanished, his speed almost imperceptible to the naked eye.
He reappeared in front of another monster, his flaming fist colliding with its chest. The sheer power of his blow obliterated the creature on impact, sending a shockwave rippling outward.
Bang!
Another beast fell, its remains consumed by the flames.

Max turned to his right and sending a fist down blasting another one with the flames. Another came flying his way its long tongue moved towards him. Max caught the tongue with his burning hands and pulled it down.
The flying monster came crashing down at Max who simply punched it with all his might.
Bang!
The monster was instantly destroyed into pieces and fell as they began to burn slowly. Some more monsters attacked him from his sides; his eyes narrowed as he turned around with a smirk.
Like that, Max became an unstoppable force, cutting through the monsters like a whirlwind of pure destruction. Every move he made kill a monster, leaving no creature in his path untouched.
The arena became his stage—a symphony of fire and blood. One by one, the monsters fell, their bodies either engulfed in flames or obliterated by the sheer impact of his strikes.
Every strike carried the combined might of 6 Draconic Essences and the lethal burn of Infernal Coating causing Max to possess enough strength on his fists to destroy them with a single punch.
One monster erupted, then another, and another—each annihilated before they could even process the threat.
The remaining beasts snarled and lunged, desperate to overwhelm him with their numbers, but Max was unstoppable. His speed and power were unmatched, a hurricane of destruction tearing through the horde. His blazing fists illuminated the arena, turning the onslaught into a nightmarish inferno.
By the time he slowed, the arena was a wasteland of charred remains, the stench of burning flesh heavy in the air.
Max stood amidst the carnage, flames flickering across his fists, his chest rising and falling with exhilaration. The monsters had stood no chance but he knew it was just the beginning.
The spectators in the viewing section sat frozen, their faces a mix of shock and disbelief. This wasn’t a battle; it was a merciless slaughter, and the hunter was the one wielding absolute dominance.
“This…” Ryan struggled to form words, his mouth opening and closing as he stared, wide-eyed, at the carnage unfolding before him. “What a monster…” he finally whispered, it was the only way he could describe what he was witnessing.
Nearby, the bald-headed man wiped the sweat trickling down his face, his hand trembling as he watched the monster count drop with terrifying speed—each kill taking only seconds. “This isn’t a fair battle,” he muttered, his voice laced with disbelief.
The young hunters were the most shaken. They stared at the arena, their minds reeling from the sight in front of them. Some rubbed their eyes, thinking it must be some kind of illusion, but the scene refused to change.
One man, at level 6, was obliterating level 10 monsters like they were nothing more than ants underfoot.
Eren clenched his fists, his jaw tight as he tried to suppress the turmoil brewing inside him. Yet, despite the bitterness of defeat, a small grin tugged at the corner of his lips. ‘My loss wasn’t unjust after all.’
Lyra, meanwhile, couldn’t take her eyes off the arena. Her heart raced, not with fear, but with something else entirely. Her gaze burned with a newfound determination as she watched him, her mind whispering in awe, ‘This level of strength… This is what I need… someone with this level of strength.’ To her, Max wasn’t just a fighter; he was a rare and precious gem, a treasure she couldn’t afford to let slip away.
As all this was happening, Max continued to massacre the monsters as he took count of them.
Just when the count neared 80, the flames on his left hand disappeared or it was better to say he made it disappeared.
But he didn’t slow down and instead increase his killing speed even more. He dashed towards a group of four monsters and punched out with his right hand.
BANG!
Pure flames unleashed on them for five seconds straight before they were melted to dead. Just after that flames on his other hand also disappeared.
“Aghh,” A low grump escaped from his mouth but he held on.
Ryan stared at the battle with his full attention. “He is nearing his end of mana pool. Its only a moment before he would be down in both physical and mana exhaustion.” He said, his voice solemn.
The others swallowed hard. To failed at this stage for someone who wanted to create a new record would be devastating.
But what they saw next made them wash away their doubts.
