Chapter 64: Battle Coins
After entering through the door, Max found himself in a medium-sized, square-shaped room. It was almost empty, except for a huge screen on the wall.
[Do you wish to enter the fight?]
A notification appeared before his eyes at that moment. It came from the Battle Realm.
“Yes,” Max replied, and he vanished from the room a moment later.
He materialized in a grassy plain with sparse trees around him.
‘This place is somewhat similar to the battlefield in the Battle Cube from the general’s chambers,’ Max mused as his eyes scanned the area.
He also noticed his opponent standing not far from him. It was a young man, about his age, with spiky black hair and a white t-shirt.
“Father told me I would be fighting a newbie, and it seems he was right,” the young man sneered as he saw Max looking around like a country bumpkin.
“Your father is indeed correct,” Max said with a faint smile, his tone calm yet sharp. He had already noticed the boy’s strength, which matched his own at level 6. “Though it’s a pity he didn’t tell you… you’re about to lose your first battle.”
“Humph, we’ll see,” the young man snorted, drawing a sword.
Max observed his stance and asked, “What class have you awakened?”
“You don’t need to know,” the young man said coldly, dashing toward Max with his sword. Midway, the blade began to release chilling white smoke, and frost spread in his wake, freezing the ground beneath him with each step.
A moment later, he reached Max and swung the sword down.
Katcha!
However, to his surprise, when the blade was about to hit Max’s body, Max caught it with his hand. The frost immediately froze half of his arm, but the young man couldn’t move the sword, no matter what he did.
“Let go! Let go of my sword!” he shouted, barking at Max.
“As you wish,” Max said, releasing the sword. But before the young man could retreat, Max sent a punch down with his fist carrying power from 2 Draconic Scales.
Bang!
The fist hit his gut, crushing his waist into red chunks of glowing lights.
A moment later, his body disintegrated, and he died completely.
‘I need to find some worthy opponents who can bring out my full power; otherwise, I’ll never be able to grow properly as a hunter,’ Max contemplated, seeing how easily he defeated someone at his level.
Having understood that only by pushing himself to the limit could he unlock the full potential of his SSS-rank class and raw power, Max wasn’t satisfied with easy opponents.
Only by knowing his limits could he improve upon them. For that, he needed opponents who could force him to use his full strength.
‘After this test, I will challenge those at the Apprentice Rank,’ Max decided, though he understood he needed to be cautious here.
He realized that a Novice Rank guy winning against those at the Apprentice Rank would definitely draw unwanted attention. With the Blade Family on his tail, Max couldn’t afford to make waves.
Max pondered deeply for a moment before deciding to think about this matter after completing his current test.
Looking back at the blue-colored door, Max entered and found himself back in his cube.
‘I need to win two more matches,’ he thought, opening the door to his cube and stepping outside.
“How was it? Did you win?” the yellow-haired man asked, waving at him.
Max smiled when he saw him and nodded. “Yeah, I won, but it was a tough battle.”

The yellow-haired man smiled warmly and reassured him, “Don’t worry. Everyone messes up in their first battle. What you should focus on now is the next battles.” He encouraged Max.
Max nodded. “Brother, I will remember your advice forever,” he said gratefully.
“Check your Battle Realm status. There must be some changes,” the yellow-haired man said, smiling.
Max opened his status and noticed some changes.

[Max]
– Number of Battles: [1]
– Wins: [1]
– Battle Coins: [100]

“100 Battle Coins,” Max muttered, seeing a new row. He turned to the yellow-haired man. “Brother, what is the use of these Battle Coins?” he asked curiously.
The yellow-haired man paused, gathering his thoughts before explaining to Max patiently, “Battle Coins are the main reason everyone goes crazy for the Battle Realm. Think of it as the currency of this world. The more Battle Coins you have, the greater privileges you can access.”
He added, looking mysteriously at Max, “That’s how individuals see Battle Coins. However, for the top five guilds and the five super families, it’s a way to determine which power holds the highest number of Battle Coins at the end of every three years.”
Max pondered his words. “What happens at the end of the three years?” he asked curiously. “If they’re fighting to see which power holds the most Battle Coins by then, there must be something very important happening, right?”
The yellow-haired man was surprised by Max’s deduction and nodded. “You’re right, brother. They’re fighting for the number of quotas to the Lost Continent.”
“Lost Continent?” Max muttered, hearing the name for the first time. “What is this place that it could attract the attention of all the major powers in the East Region?”
The yellow-haired man laughed awkwardly. “That’s something only the top powers truly know. All we hear are rumors—whispers of a grand opportunity, a reward so significant that even the five super families and top guilds are desperate to claim it.”
He added, sighing, “Brother, as a level 6 Novice Rank hunter, I only know this much. In fact, if you exclude those at the Apprentice Rank and above, hardly any hunters at the Novice Rank would know about the Lost Continent.”
Max nodded and asked one last thing he was curious about. “So, how far along are we in this 3-year cycle?”
The yellow-haired man replied, “Two years have passed, and only about a year remains.”
“A year…” Max pondered, thinking about something.
“By the way, brother, let’s have a battle between us,” the yellow-haired young man suggested. “I’ll go easy on you since it’s your second battle.”
“If you say so,” Max replied, somewhat hesitant.
“Don’t worry, brother. As I said, I’ll go easy on you,” the yellow-haired young man reassured, seeing Max’s hesitation.
Max nodded and asked, “So, how do I challenge you?”
“Just point at me with your index finger, and a screen will pop up,” the yellow-haired man instructed.
Max nodded and pointed at him with his index finger.
Almost instantly, a notification popped up in his vision.
[Do you wish to challenge Norman Caif?]
“Yes,” Max replied without hesitation.
“The invitation to the challenge came to me,” Norman said with a smile as he accepted Max’s challenge.
“Let’s fight then,” he said, stepping forward and entering his cube.
Max smiled, seeing how eager Norman was for the fight. “It’s not my fault, brother. You just chose the wrong guy,” he sighed, shaking his head as he entered his cube as well.
Moments later, they both appeared in the plain, grassy battlefield.
“Oh, brother, your class seems awesome,” Max said, smiling as he looked at the five daggers floating around Norman.
“Hehe,” Norman grinned proudly, “It’s called Dagger Dancer.”
With those words, he launched the five flying daggers at Max.
