Chapter 70: The Guild Summit
“Look, Derek Voss from the Emerald Legion guild is here again.”
“I’ve heard that he pesters Miss Alice every time Master Anton isn’t around.”
“I wonder what he’s come for this time.”
The other guild members eating at nearby tables began gossiping as soon as they saw Derek Voss. He had jet-black, slightly messy hair, medium-length, falling just above his eyebrows and brushing the nape of his neck.
“What do you want, Derek?” Alice asked coldly.
Derek sneered. “I want nothing this time,” he said, tossing a glowing circular card to Alice.
“Give that to your mother,” Derek said, smiling, his expression turning mocking. “I hope your guild doesn’t rank like last time.” With those words, he left with his goons.
Max looked at the glowing circular card curiously, then at Alice’s frowning face. “What’s this?”
Alice sighed deeply and said, “It’s an invitation to The Guild Summit.”
“The Guild Summit?” Max muttered, then asked, “Is that where all the guilds gather for a discussion or something?”
Alice nodded lightly. “My mother told me it will be held three months later because of the importance of this particular year. She mentioned that these next 12 months will be the longest ever in the history of the Valora Continent.”
She stood up. “Since you’ve accepted the deal, I’ll go and notify Big Sis Sophia.”
Max leaned back in his chair. “Alright then, you go ahead.”
Alice nodded and hurriedly left the Ember Heart Hall.
‘She seems to be on edge because of this summit thing,’ Max thought with a sigh. He had planned to eat something with her before leaving happily. ‘I guess whatever this summit is, it seems very important to her and the guild.’ He mused as he tapped the table, causing it to display a variety of food on its screen.
Max selected his favorite dishes from the menu and patiently waited for his meal to arrive. The aroma of the freshly prepared food filled the air, and he savored each bite when it was finally served. After finishing his meal, he quietly headed home.
—
‘Time to increase the level of mastery for Magic Sword Bullets,’ Max thought as he sat cross-legged in his training room.
He spent the entire night in the Dimension of Time, practicing the Magic Sword Bullets skill to level 70.
After hearing Alice mention that the next 12 months would be a long stretch, Max became solemn. He didn’t know what would happen in the coming months, but he understood that being prepared for it would only do him good.
The next day, Max took a bath as usual and sat down to eat his food.
‘I’ll start fighting seriously in the Battle Realm from today onwards,’ he thought while eating.
Beep!
After eating, he was about to head out when he heard a beeping sound from his holowatch.
Checking it, he noticed a message from someone named [Aiphos].
‘Who is this Aiphos?’ he wondered, then opened the chat and checked the message, causing his eyes to widen in shock.
[Freya Voidwalker was last seen on the Lost Continent before she disappeared.]
‘There’s someone who knows I’m connected to Freya?’ Max thought, feeling a little overwhelmed and stunned. ‘Who is this person? Could they be from the Phoenix Order guild?’ Many questions rose in his mind as his heart started to beat faster.
Taking a deep breath to calm himself, Max messaged them.
[Who are you, and why should I trust you?]

A moment later, the reply came.
[You have no choice but to trust me. You have no leads on Freya at all, so it would be wise if you listened to me.]
Max frowned. It was true that he didn’t have any leads on where his sister was at the moment, but that didn’t mean he would trust anyone.
[How do you know I’m connected to her?] he asked.
The reply came swiftly.
[I know who you are… Max Voidwalker, little brother of Freya Voidwalker. Your parents disappeared mysteriously five years ago, your sister disappeared two years ago, and now you’re on a mission to find them, right?]
Max gasped, his eyes narrowing. He hadn’t expected this person to know everything about him. ‘Who is this guy?’ he thought, feeling stressed that someone out there knew everything about him while he knew nothing.
‘Could this person be…’ He suddenly had a thought and asked.
“Are you someone in the Phoenix Order guild?”
The reply came.
[I am, but it’s for you to guess who I am. But remember this: you are walking on a double-edged sword. The Phoenix Order guild could be the best guild you could join, or I should say, the worst. Should your identity as Voidwalker ever be revealed, you must flee from the guild. This is the last of my advice. Don’t expect me to contact you anytime soon.]
Max’s expression darkened as he read the message. ‘Looks like whatever my sister did here really angered the guild.’ He sighed, wondering what she had done to bring such hatred upon herself and the Voidwalker name.
‘I have to be even more careful about not revealing my identity,’ Max thought, his expression turning serious. He didn’t know what caused the information about him to change when Alice went to find out about him, but he really appreciated whoever was responsible for this.
That didn’t mean he was safe, though. There was one source where his identity could be revealed at any time—the Blade Family. ‘They seem to know about me, but strangely, they haven’t revealed my identity,’ Max thought, finding this interesting.
If Elena had told Alice and those from the Phoenix Order guild that he was a Voidwalker during their last encounter, Max doubted the Phoenix Order guild would have spent their efforts to save him, knowing he was related to the traitor of their guild.
‘The entire situation is very complicated,’ Max sighed and headed out.
Not long after, he arrived at the hall containing the gigantic Battle Cube. Noticing the large influx of people entering and exiting the Battle Cube, Max also went in silently.
—
In the Battle Realm, Max found himself inside his cube. ‘So, I can set the level I want to challenge here,’ he thought as he tapped the air.
A screen appeared in the air, asking him to choose from various levels in the Novice Rank.
Max glanced at it for a moment before selecting level 10. After that, he left the cube and exited through the glowing door.
Outside his cube, he noticed many people, as usual, busy with their own things. Some were challenging someone, while others were busy watching someone else’s fight.
But Max noticed something different about the people before him compared to the last time.
‘All of them are at level 10 of Novice Rank,’ Max thought, smiling. He knew that if he wanted to get into the rankings of the Novice Rank, he had to fight those at level 10; otherwise, he believed his rank wouldn’t increase no matter how many battles he won below level 10.
“Hey, look, a level 6 dared to come here into our level 10 domain.”
“I’m guessing he lost himself here.”
“Lost? No, I think he has some guts if he decided to show up here.”
“I believe he came to challenge us.”
“No kidding. But does he have what it takes to win against us, who are at level 10, when he’s just someone at level 6?”
The people outside their cubes spotted Max. They weren’t sure why someone at level 6 would come to a level 10 domain, but they were more than happy to entertain him.
Max smiled at their words, his lips curling into a confident smirk. His eyes gleamed with a fiery challenge as he took a step forward. “Who dares to fight me?” he declared loudly.
