Chapter 75: A strange reunion
It had been three days since Max’s name had become legendary across the entire East Region.
In those three days, the world had watched in awe as his rise seemed unstoppable.
First, Max had stormed into the top 20 of the Novice Rankings in the Battle Realm, a feat that sent ripples of disbelief through every corner of the region.
The fact that he had done so with the strength of a mere level 6 Novice Rank only added to the shock—never before had someone so low in rank achieved such a high placement.
At this moment, Max stood nonchalantly, checking his stats from the Battle Realm as he waited for someone. Surprisingly, he wasn’t surrounded by a crowd this time, all thanks to the place he seemed to be in.
He had come all the way to the middle of the Battle Realm, and although many hunters roamed around him in this region, their strength was higher—at the Apprentice Rank and some even at the Adept Rank. Therefore, they paid little to no attention to someone at level 6 of Novice Rank.
And that was exactly what Max had wanted all along.
“There you are.” Just then, Alice arrived before him.
During the last two days, they couldn’t meet in the Battle Realm’s level 10 region or level 6 due to all the crowds surrounding Max, so they decided to meet at a place where very few would recognize him.
“Alice, you’re here.” Max smiled when he saw her and asked, “You mentioned we’re here to watch a battle between someone from the Blade Family and another genius from one of the four super families. Who are they?”
“Let’s go. I’ll tell you on the way.” Alice led Max in a certain direction.
She then asked, “Do you know what the four super families and five major guilds are?”
Max nodded as he walked side by side with her. “If I’m not mistaken, the four super families are Blade, Thorne, Ashford, and Evernight. As for the five guilds, they are the Phoenix Order, Lionheart Guild, Emerald Legion, Knights of Valor, and lastly, the Black Lotus. Am I right?”
Alice glanced at him and said, “Allen Blade, the number one genius of the Blade Family, and Fiona Evernight, the number one of the Evernight Family, will fight. They’ll be streaming the battle to the entire Battle Realm.”
Max nodded in understanding. “Why are they fighting?” he asked, turning to her.
Alice smiled. “Apparently, both the Evernight Family and Blade Family consider each other rivals, even enemies. It’s like the saying, ‘One playground can’t hold two tigers.'”
“I see…” Max understood as his thoughts raced.
“Little brother, long time no see.” Just then, Max heard a familiar voice.
Turning around, he saw a young man in a black suit and a young woman with brown hair walking toward them.
“Nash and Erica, what do you two want?” Alice stood in front of Max like his guardian and questioned them.
Nash smiled and looked around. “Where’s Anton? I don’t see him around.”
Alice’s tone turned solemn. “If you’re looking for Big Brother Anton, then he’s not here. You two can leave now.”
“My, my.” Erica giggled, seeing Alice act so protective of Max. “Why are you acting like we would take away Max? We just want to have a little talk with him.”
“I-I’m not protecting him.” Alice flustered, her face turning a little red.
“It’s okay.” Max said to Alice as he patted her shoulder and stepped forward.
Alice nodded meekly, letting Max handle the conversation.
“So, what do you guys want?” Max asked, turning to Nash and Erica.
Nash stepped forward and lowered his head at Max, sending daggers at him with his eyes. Max met his gaze without fear.
“If you want to overwhelm me with your strength, then you might as well leave.” Max said indifferently.
Nash sneered. “I see you’ve become a lot cockier since the last time.”

Max glanced at him and shrugged. “You might be mistaken. I’ve never done anything that could be considered cocky.”
Nash chuckled before his expression turned serious. “We’re here to take the purple lantern back.”
Max smiled and took out the purple lantern. “This? I would very much like to give it away, but since it chose me as its master, I simply can’t return it to you.” He said, sounding pitying.
Nash smiled, expecting such an answer, and leaned toward Max’s ear. “Join our guild, and you can have the lantern as your prized artifact.” He whispered lightly, so only Max could hear.
Alice’s eyes narrowed as she saw that, but she didn’t interfere and trusted Max’s judgment.
Max smirked. “I’ll neither join your guild nor give away this artifact.”
Nash’s expression turned ugly. “Kid, when someone offers you an olive branch, you should take it if you don’t have any other option.”
Max sneered. “Don’t act like a saint. Last time when Elena attacked me, neither you nor she offered a bit of help and only watched from the sidelines. So don’t expect anything from me.”
Nash glared at Max, and Max glared back.
“What’s going on here? Are you two alright?” Just then, a concerned voice reached their ears.
Max, Alice, Nash, and Erica turned their heads to see a group approaching, their serious expressions mirroring the tension in the air.
A man in his early twenties with silver hair down to his shoulders, extremely handsome with silver brows, led the group and appeared before Max and the others.
Max didn’t recognize him, but he could see one familiar figure behind him—Elena. His eyes burned with flames of hatred.
“Allen Blade…” Alice muttered softly upon seeing the man leading the group.
‘Allen Blade?’ Max’s eyes widened slightly, and his expression turned solemn. He wondered what the Blade Family wanted now and what the number one genius of the Blade Family wanted from him.
“Nash and Erica, could you two gentlemen give me some alone time with Max here?” Allen asked softly, his tone polite.
Nash thought for a moment before stepping aside with a slight sneer on his face.
Allen smiled and walked toward Max, observing him closely. “You’re qualified,” he said, nodding to himself.
Max frowned. “Qualified for what?” he asked.
Allen smiled and said, “To join the Blade Family.”
Max raised an eyebrow in amusement but shook his head. “I’ve already joined the Phoenix Order Guild, and I’m not going anywhere else.”
“We’ll talk to the Phoenix Order Guild. There’s no need to worry about it.” Allen said, smiling, his tone confident.
Max frowned, his face darkening. “This has nothing to do with the Phoenix Order Guild.”
Allen chuckled. “It also has nothing to do with you whether you join our family or not.”
He added with a threatening tone. “It would also do you good if you join without us doing anything.”
Max’s face turned completely dark. He hadn’t expected the Blade Family to be this shameless, but if they thought they could corner him, they had no idea what he was capable of.
“Hehehe.” Max sneered, looking at Allen as if he were seeing an insect. “Are all the Blades this shameless? First, a bitch came to kill me out of nowhere, and now a dog came to recruit me? I wonder if the Blade Family is full of dogs and bitches.”
