Chapter 81: Max vs Killian – 2
Killian’s expression turned ugly as he heard Max. “As you wish then,” he said, disappearing from his position.
A trail of blue lightning followed him as he appeared in front of Max, his sword hacking down at him.
‘Time for the real fun to start,’ Max mused as he used his Three Dimensional Body to intercept the sword’s path and activated the power of 6 Draconic Essences.
His body became a reservoir of raw power as his hand was coated in red flames, his index finger adorned with a speck of Level 1 Sword Aura.
Bang!
Max’s finger effortlessly blocked Killian’s sword, causing his expression to turn into one of horror. “Impossible!” he shouted, refusing to believe what he saw. He attacked once again, swinging his sword down at Max.
Max smiled and once again used his index finger to block the attack.
“No, no. This is impossible!” Killian muttered, his expression growing wild. He couldn’t believe that his full-strength attack had been so easily blocked by Max, while the latter only used a finger.
“No, this is just a trick!” Refusing to believe it, Killian attacked Max with a barrage of sword strikes, one after another. But to his despair, all his attacks were skillfully and effortlessly blocked by Max’s index finger, bringing him to the edge of despair.
“No, this must be an illusion! Yeah, I’m in some sort of illusion,” Killian muttered, looking at Max as he unleashed another barrage of sword attacks.
One attack. Two attacks. Three attacks… Fifty attacks… A hundred attacks. No matter how many times Killian swung, no matter how much energy he poured into each strike, Max’s finger remained as unmoving as a mountain.
Every blow was deflected effortlessly, as though the world itself had decided to deny Killian the victory he had once believed was inevitable.
The force behind his attacks grew weaker with each swing, his body trembling under the strain of his own desperation. The lightning that had once crackled around him with such intensity now flickered weakly, barely a spark, as he continued his assault.
The crowd stood frozen, their eyes glued to the screens, disbelief clouding their minds. It was as if time itself had slowed, each moment stretching on endlessly as they tried to comprehend what they were witnessing.
Killian had unleashed his strongest form with a very powerful skill, and yet, despite all of that, he couldn’t land a single strike on Max. Every attack, every ounce of his power, was effortlessly blocked by a single finger from his opponent.
The scene sent a chill down the spines of everyone watching. Killian, who had once been hailed as a prodigy, someone capable of crushing opponents with ease, was now reduced to nothing.
His once unshakable confidence had been shattered, replaced by desperation and then despair. The arrogance of his earlier words now seemed like a distant memory, drowned out by the realization of his utter defeat.
“How is this possible?”
“He’s just… blocking everything with a finger? Is this some kind of illusion?”
“No one can do that, can they?”
“How is Max so strong?”
Whispers spread through the crowd, voices filled with disbelief. Whatever was happening on the screen seemed like a dream to them.
—
“No, I won’t give up. There has to be some way. No one can be this strong,” Killian shook his head as he came to his senses, starting to attack once again, this time with even more power.
However, after seeing that all his attacks were blocked by Max, he took a step back and retreated.
“No one can be this stupidly stronger, especially not you, who is at level 6,” Killian said, his voice shaking. “So, there has to be some trick here.”
Max smiled coldly at him. “Why don’t you try to find the trick, then?”
Killian gritted his teeth and said, “I will.” With those words, he slapped the ground with both his hands, transferring all his lightning into the earth. A moment later, a blue lightning eagle, formed entirely from blue lightning, surged out of the ground and flew toward Max.
The lightning, about the size of Max and Killian, surged at Max with blinding speed.
Max smiled as he saw the lightning eagle and channeled the power of 6 Draconic Essences through his fist.

Just as the lightning eagle neared him, Max punched down with all his strength.
CHIL-LA!
Bang!
The lightning eagle stood no chance as it exploded upon coming into contact with Max’s fist, sending tendrils of lightning in all directions.
“No! How could this be?” Killian’s expression turned blank as he saw that even his strongest attack couldn’t do anything to Max.
Max smiled indifferently and asked, “Anything else you have, then use it. Otherwise, when I start, you won’t get the time to attack me.”
Killian turned to Max, his expression slowly changing from blank to ferocious. “It’s your good luck that we are fighting in the Battle Realm.”
“Oh?” Max was surprised that Killian would still spout bold words at this moment.
But then he saw something, causing his eyes to narrow.
Killian brought both his hands forward, and as he did, wind began to rage all around him. With the wind came lightning, but the lightning was in the air, just in front of his hands, not on his body.
It was as though Killian was casting lightning in the air, but it was much more complex than that. With the winds raging all around him and the lightning in front of his hands, Max could tell this wasn’t a simple attack.
‘What is he doing? The energy of that attack is off the charts,’ Max mused, becoming curious about what Killian was trying to pull off.
—
In the halls near the cube, the members of the Blade Family trembled when they saw the scene, but unlike before, they seemed more excited than nervous for Killian.
“Is that what I think it is?” Nash turned to Allen and Elena, his face full of intrigue.
Allen glanced at him indifferently and said, “It’s our Blade Family’s technique, Hundred Killing Blade.”
Nash’s eyes widened with shock as he smiled. “The last I heard, you need at least the mana reservoir of an Apprentice Rank hunter to pull off a technique, especially one as strong as your family’s.”
Allen’s gaze remained fixed on Killian as he spoke with calm certainty. “He’s been pushed to his limits. He’s faced the harsh truth that he is nothing compared to a level 6, someone four levels beneath him. He’s seen his strongest form rendered useless, every ounce of his pride stripped away. He’s been shown what a true genius looks like.”
He paused. “But here’s the thing about moments like these—they either break you or forge you. It’s in these moments that the weak falter and the strong rise. More often than not, those who endure something like this find the spark to break past their limits. And only those who manage to do that… are ever truly considered geniuses.”
Nash chuckled, a sly smirk tugging at his lips as he leaned slightly forward. “You’re correct as always, Allen, but let me ask you this—what happens if even that last glimmer of hope turns to ash? What happens when he realizes his ultimate attack isn’t nearly as strong as he thought it was? What happens when that attack fails to do anything against Max?”
His tone was sharp, carrying a mix of intrigue and mockery, as though savoring the unfolding drama.
Allen turned his calm gaze toward Nash. “If he manages to successfully unleash the Hundred Killing Blade, it’s unlikely to fail. But if it does… then it’s up to him. No one can reverse what’s about to unfold. What happens next will be his burden to bear.”
