Chapter 95: Chaos in the Central City – 6
Five’s smile twisted into a sneer, his gaze sharp and calculating. “No weakling could have taken my attack head-on the way you just did,” he said, his tone laced with a mixture of mockery and anticipation. “There’s more to your strength than meets the eye, isn’t there?”
His sneer deepened as he added, “If I push you hard enough, I get the feeling I might finally have the chance to fight someone at full strength again. It’s been far too long.”
Max frowned upon hearing him. He understood that he had encountered a madman who wouldn’t let him go anytime soon. ‘I can only fight, then,’ he thought, searching for ways to ditch him.
Five pointed his sword at Max and said, “Here I come.” With those words, he swung his sword at Max.
Max reacted swiftly, attacking at the same time, his sword swinging down.
Clang!
Once again, their swords collided, but this time, Max was flung far away, toward one of the buildings. However, he quickly used his Sky Float skill to control his descent and came to a stop in midair.
“Is that all you’ve got?” Five taunted, seeing Max being so easily blown away by his attack.
Max frowned, taking a deep breath. ‘I need to use my full strength here,’ he thought, concentrating on his sword.
A moment later, his sword began to bathe in a light blue glow, and with it came an intent—an intent so sharp that it caused the air around him to vibrate.
Max turned to Five, raising his blue-glowing sword high. “Divergent Slash!”
He swung it down, releasing a wide arc of blue light toward Five.
The arc moved, cutting through the air as it rushed toward Five.
Five smirked upon seeing it, and his own sword began to glow, but in a light red hue.
“This is child’s play,” he said, sneering as he swung his sword, releasing a red arc of light.
It tore through the air and collided with Max’s blue arc in midair.
Boom!
An explosion erupted in midair due to their collision, releasing red and blue hues around them.
“A level 1 Sword Aura, hehe,” Five smiled, looking at Max, his battle intent rising. “I wouldn’t expect less from you.”
Max smirked, a glint of confidence in his eyes. “There’s more where that came from,” he said as wind began to flow around him.
Channeling the full power of Float, Wind Float, and Sky Float, he launched himself like a meteor toward Five. His figure blurred, accelerating so rapidly that even Five, with his sharp instincts, was momentarily caught off guard.
“Divergent Slash!” Max roared, unleashing the same devastating attack, this time at point-blank range.
The sheer speed of Max’s assault left Five with no time to react. Stunned by the sudden burst of power, Five barely managed to raise his sword, using it as a desperate shield against the glowing blue arc of light that barreled toward him.
Bang!
The attack hit his sword, sending him flying away like a meteor, but Max was even faster. He caught up with him and attacked once again.
“Divergent Slash!”
“Not again!” Five shouted as his entire form began to glow in red. The air around him started to vaporize, and a wild killing intent emanated from him.
The blue arc of light immediately scattered after colliding with the red glow around Five’s body, as if a splash of water collided with metal.
Seeing that, Max quickly retreated back as fast as he came to attack, his expression extremely solemn.
“Is that what level 2 of Sword Aura looks like?” Max asked, feeling his sword trembling regardless of his tight grip on it.

Five nodded, smiling. “This is indeed the true form of Sword Aura Level 2. In level 1, one can only use the aura to enhance the sharpness their blade, but in level 2, not only does the sharpness of the aura increase even further, but one can also extend the aura to their entire body.”
He added with a smirk, “By doing that, one can make their entire body a potential weapon.”
Max’s eyes flashed in understanding. ‘Level 2 of Sword Aura is too strong. It completely nullified my Divergent Slash into nothingness.’ He pondered his next options.
Seeing Max thinking, Five sneered and said, “Take your sweet time to think about how you can counter my level 2 Sword Aura, but just so you know, no matter how strong a level 1 Sword Aura is, it could never hold a candle against level 2 Sword Aura.”
He added, “Level 2 Sword Aura is a superior form of Sword Concept and would completely suppress level 1 Sword Aura, regardless of any matter.”
Max frowned, glancing at his sword glowing in a light blue aura. ‘No wonder it’s trembling constantly. It’s suppressed by level 2 Sword Aura.’
Closing his eyes for a moment, Max contemplated his options. He understood that fighting against someone possessing level 2 Sword Aura by using level 1 Sword Aura was asking for death.
‘Either I can use all 15 of my Draconic Essence, or I could try that…’ he mused, putting one hand behind his back as he began to devour the five chaos stones he had obtained from Lily, one by one.
In seconds, he finished absorbing them, and a notification appeared in his vision.
[Dragon Scales increased by +3]
‘A total of 5 Dragon Scales, adding the previous 2,’ Max thought, but he wasn’t sure if 5 Dragon Scales could handle his 15 Draconic Essence.
He pondered for a moment and decided to take the other route.
Max glanced at Five and asked, “What do you know about merging two auras?”
Five raised an eyebrow, his curiosity piqued. “Combining two auras?” he murmured, almost to himself. After a moment of contemplation, a faint smirk tugged at his lips. “That’s like asking fire and ice to coexist in the same flame. Dangerous… but fascinating.”
He adjusted his stance, his sword glinting ominously under the faint light. “If you’ve managed to pull off something that reckless, then you’re either a fool…” His smirk widened into a predatory grin. “…or someone truly worth fighting.”
Max smiled upon hearing him and pointed his sword at Five.
Over the blue glow of Max’s sword, faint specks of red light began to flicker—subtle at first, but steadily growing. The crimson glow crept across the blade, weaving into the blue aura with deliberate persistence.
Slowly but surely, the red glow consumed the blue, creating a striking, fiery radiance that engulfed the sword entirely.
As the transformation completed, the weapon in Max’s hand began to tremble violently, resisting the immense energy coursing through it. Max’s grip tightened, his knuckles turning white as he forced the blade to steady.
Gradually, the trembling subsided, and the sword settled into a state of balanced, pulsing power.
But it was different for the glow on his sword.
The glow on Max’s sword began to shift and ripple, alternating fluidly between vibrant red and deep blue. The colors danced across its surface in an ever-changing pattern.
What truly caught Five’s attention, however, wasn’t just the glow—it was the intent radiating from the sword. Though it lacked the overwhelming intensity of his own Level 2 Sword Aura, the depth it exuded was remarkable.
There was a raw, unrefined quality to it, yet it carried a profound resonance that made Five pause, his intrigue growing with every passing moment.
