Chapter 169: Tuna Mayo Onigiri Has Landed, Prepare Your Mouths
Because really, where else could they safely transfer alchemy materials without the prying eyes of other greedy sects or loose-tongued cultivators?
Obviously, the one and only Dimensional Convenience Store.
Ji Yunzhi inspected the contents.
No rotten leaves. No fake ginseng. No withered roots dressed up as treasures.
He gave a single nod.
Before he left, he grabbed a can of Wing Blast. Then, on second thought, he also bought the other three drinks: Cola, Lime Fizz, and Peach Oolong Tea.
Just in case.
An alchemist had to be prepared.
With his arms full of inspiration and a new stock of ingredients, he disappeared through the exit without another word.
Off to craft another batch of Cola Pills…
And more importantly, to clear his schedule.
So he could dive headfirst into analyzing Wing Blast.
Another day, another obsession.
By the end of today’s shift, Hao’s expectations had aligned beautifully.
‘Task complete!’
And all thanks to one person: Lin Yijun, who had apparently decided to play rich young master for the day.
He happily treated Yue Xueyan and Hua Feixue to every product they pointed at. Not just them – even Old Tiger Zhao and Dou Xinshi got swept into the chaos.
Hao had no clue what lit a fire under that always-chill sword boy.
But judging by the way Lin Yijun casually waved his hand and said, “Anything you want.” as if he were handing out coins at a children’s festival…
Yeah. He definitely earned some extra crystals somewhere.
Xiao Lianfeng just shook his head beside the aisle.
‘This is what we get for closing that deal.’
Turns out, this was their reward.
Successfully proposing the Cola Pill trade to Ji Yunzhi – earned them a fat bonus.
And with Lin Yijun’s silver tongue and complete lack of shame when talking to old men?
The elders of the Drifting Sword Sect had been milked cleaner than a cow beast during harvest season.
No wonder he was treating the store like his personal buffet.

Hao rubbed his hands together. Another special day tomorrow!
He was so excited about it, he ended up gossiping to everyone.
He told Mo Xixi. He told Little Sneak. He told Kurome and her two kittens, Yoru and Tsuki.
“There’s a new product coming tomorrow.” he said.
That was it.
No name, no hint, no clue. Just that casual smile on his face.
And it worked.
By nightfall, the whole convenience store household was buzzing like caffeinated bees. None of them could sleep.
Not even the kittens.
‘What do you think it is?’
‘I bet it’s a magical dessert.’
‘Maybe it’s some ancient beast jerky.’
‘It’s a new flavor of instant noodles, I feel it.’
Nobody knew.
So, as usual, they ended up cultivating through the night… all while trying to ignore the suspense clawing at their hearts.
Hao, however, had slept straight through the night.
He could have trained or cultivated if he wanted to, but today, he decided to take his time. He just felt like resting.
Early in the morning, he came down with a yawn and a stretch –
Only to find nearly everyone already up and out of their rooms.
Eyes sparkling like they’d been promised eternal youth and immortality.
They all turned to him with identical, eager expressions.
Hao stared.
‘…You guys really woke up this early for the onigiri?’
He couldn’t help but laugh.
“Morning, Boss!” Mo Xixi greeted, hands behind her back and a subtle puff to her cheeks.
‘Good morning, Master.’
“Meow~!”
“Meow!”
“Squeek!”
Yoru, Tsuki, and Little Sneak greeted him too in their own languages.
“Alright, alright.” Hao said, waving them along with a grin.
“Let’s head to the storage area. You’re all curious about the new product, right?”
They all nodded in perfect sync.
Honestly, it looked like a lineup of overenthusiastic turnips waiting to be picked.
Hao led the way to the downstairs, where several neat, sealed carton boxes awaited them.
A fresh delivery, courtesy of the system.
“Little Xixi, help me open these boxes.”
Mo Xixi puffed up and strolled over. Together, they began to lift the lids one by one.
Yoru and Tsuki couldn’t wait. They leapt up like spring-loaded beans, one landing on each of Hao’s shoulders.
Peeking down, their tails curled with anticipation, eyes glued to the boxes.
Meanwhile, Little Sneak stared at Mo Xixi.
Mo Xixi stared right back.
Her eyes narrowed.
There was no need for words.
No way you’re gonna climb me too, right?
That glare could’ve peeled paint off the walls.
Little Sneak blinked, his little whiskers twitching with hope.
Then shame.
Then retreat.
He lowered himself to the ground, defeated.
Even the great Watcher of Shadows, noble creature of the esteemed Pumbral Clan… knew better than to mess with the heir of the fallen Ashen Curse Cult.
He sat with a quiet squeak of resignation.
And watched.
Mo Xixi’s eyes sparkled as she carefully peeled back the wrapping paper inside one of the boxes.
“Is this the new product, boss?” she asked, voice full of wonder.
Yoru and Tsuki let out excited little meows, their tiny paws tapping against Hao’s shoulders as they craned their necks to see.
Hao smiled and fully opened the flaps, revealing the contents.
Inside, rows of perfectly shaped triangles lay neatly lined up, each wrapped in a glossy sheet of deep emerald seaweed that shimmered slightly under the light.
The rice beneath was a soft, pearly white, just sticky enough to hold its shape but promising a tender bite.
Peeking out from the edges, a creamy pale pink filling hinted at the rich tuna mayo inside, smooth, savory, and inviting.
The deep green seaweed, the snowy white rice, and the soft pink tuna filling came together to create a beautiful, mouthwatering sight.
It smelled faintly of the ocean breeze and fresh rice, promising comfort in every bite.
For a moment, the room was silent except for the quiet rustle of the wrapping and the soft mews of curious kittens, all equally captivated by the sight.
