Divine Emperor of Death - Chapter 4250
Chapter 4250: Forsaken Battlefield
A purple-robed figure flew across a vast stretch of flatland. It appeared like a desolate expanse of dried earth and bare mountains.
It was said that this place was once a land of unbridled vitality, where magical beasts roamed freely, and the wandering cultivators and the high nobles sought fortune, but now, it had become a vast burial ground, soaked in dried blood and the resentment of the fallen.
The air lingered with the thick scent of war, a mixture of rusted steel, scorched flesh, and faint blood aura.
Evidently, one could tell that perhaps hundreds of millions of people died here, many Monarchs and Sovereigns, even Autarchs.
Jagged peaks loomed in the far distance, their imposing silhouettes nearly encompassing this flatland. Torn banners fluttered weakly on the peaks, carrying a reminiscent aura of a Legacy Artifact, which were now useless and perhaps even cursed with the resentment of the dead, which might explain why they hadn’t been looted yet.
The purple-robed man cast a look at those mountains before his gaze returned to the barren and bloodied land. Not a single tree grew, and if there was one, it dried up. However, there was indeed one tree at the very center of this land. It was huge, its bark reddish-black in color, but it appeared dormant with the way it remained unmoving despite the unsettling wind.
Its vein-like roots crawled across the underground and attached themselves to a few entities or rather, corpses.
One was a massive serpent corpse that coiled around a mountain. Ir radiated a poisonous aura and appeared to be a Level Four Empyrean Beast. Its crystalline scales were shattered, revealing strong bones. Its dim eyes still seemed to carry an intense amount of hatred as though its soul refused to disperse.
There were many more corpses of the human race, the fey race, and the magical beast race, but all of them undulated a terrifying aura even while dead. It was as though they would transform into a specter and attack if someone dared to near them.
“I see… the Accursed Moonwane Serpent’s curse ability is affecting the battlefield, making it a danger zone for people to enter… but the real danger is that Bloodvine Carnage Tree.”
Davis’s voice echoed out with some understanding.
The Accursed Moonwane Serpent was a Grand Saint Beast Magical Beast, and its curse abilities were said to be terrifying. No one wanted to be the recipient of it, so this land remained abandoned and forsaken, no one daring to visit again.
He bet he could make a hideout here if he wanted to.
However, the Bloodvine Carnage Tree has its history too.
It was immune to curses and appeared out of nowhere to latch onto this land and everyone on this battlefield on that fateful day, making them its eternal source of food. The reason why the corpses didn’t rot was because they were actually cultivating slowly, even while being dead. Only the souls were killed, but the bodies were still alive with the help of the Bloodvine Carnage Tree.
The curse was then said to be the Accursed Moonwane Serpent’s last act of defiance as it sacrificed its soul to attack the Bloodvine Carnage Tree, but it was useless. In the end, the tree prevailed, and the serpent lost, but its effects still didn’t dissipate even till this year.
Davis could only imagine what kind of battle took place in this place that was once called the Great Violent Wildlands.
Nonetheless, he appeared on one of the peaks and summoned a chair and a table before he sat down and chilled. He waited for what appeared to be a long time before he was eventually spotted by a person in the distance.
That person was alarmed.
It didn’t take long for more people to appear and gather around him. Within ten minutes, the entire region was encompassed. Formations were placed, and numerous Autarchs imposed spatial locks.
At the twelfth minute, a purple-robed man flew over and descended right beside him.
He shot a good look at him before his brows squinted.
“You really are the Divine Emperor of Death and not some fake or a substitute body. What made you give up?”
“What?”
Davis had his foot on the table while he kept his hands behind his head and leaned. He inclined his head and looked at the Venerable Hollow Knight with some surprise.
“You didn’t attack me on the spot. Have I been declared innocent by the Heaven’s Warrior Organizations?”
“Fortunately, no.”
The Venerable Hollow Knight smiled lightly, “We know that you’re unkillable, so we may need more forces to deal with you and ultimately seal you. We’re waiting for the other Venerable Knights to gather. Just wait a few minutes. They’ll all be here.”
“Oh? How pragmatic of you. Great.”
Davis gave a thumbs up and reclined his head again, appearing to sleep.

The Venerable Hollow Knight frowned heavily.
The carefree and lackluster attitude of the Divine Emperor of Death rang alarm bells in his mind, but he really couldn’t see anything odd in this place. The only threat was the Bloodvine Carnage Tree, but evidently, it was fearful because of his presence.
Nonetheless, he eyed the spatial ring and life ring of the Divine Emperor of Death, knowing he was not to be underestimated. Walking closer, he also brought out a chair and sat opposite Davis.
“You’re really audacious and cunning enough to escape our heaven-encompassing net numerous times. You were in the Whispering Wildlands Peninsula, weren’t you?”
“Huh? I was in the Whispering Wildlands Peninsula? You must have been dreaming.”
Davis raised his head and appeared amused. He put his foot on the ground and sat straight, bringing out two cups and started pouring some tea.
“Do you want? There’s a good mix of life and death energy inside.”
“No, thank you.”
The Venerable Hollow Knight said with indifference as he eyed the tea, wondering what kind of curses were imprinted inside. He saw the Divine Emperor of Death, then took a sip out of his cup and acted like it was tasty, making an ‘O’ sign with his index and thumb fingers.
The Divine Emperor of Death’s lack of caution towards an extreme threat like the Venerable Knights made his eyes nearly go bloodshot.
