Chapter 783: Difference in Power
The man with long blond hair turned around abruptly. It hurt him to see his comrade’s head spinning in the air, but he had to do something to stay alive.
The man aimed his bow at the Frost Maiden as fast as he could, yet no sooner did he aim than the monster disappeared.
Whooooooooooooosh.
The next thing the man saw was a broad red blade coming towards his head. The Frost Maiden was going to kill him, just like their commander. It was an easy task for her.
“Look out!”
With a bright shout, the girl appeared in front of the archer, she crossed her daggers, blocking the Frost Maiden’s attack.
Her hands trembled, the two daggers struggling to hold back the simple swing of the massive spear.
The Frost Maiden frowned, she didn’t expect one to decide to interfere with her, but it wasn’t a problem.
With her next breath, the Frost Maiden spun around sharply, her foot plunging into the girl’s stomach, knocking her back into the man standing behind her.
“Argh!!!”
They groaned simultaneously, the impact throwing them back ten meters. Though the girl was able to protect her mate, the Frost Maiden was already rushing towards, intending to finish them off on landing.
Thump.
The two silhouettes plunged into a clump of snow, before they could recover, a tall shadow loomed over them, the Frost Maiden’s spear raised high – one accurate thrust would be enough to kill two Phantoms at a time.
She began her execution immediately. She had nothing to talk to the Phantoms about, to her they were just victims, obstacles to her goal.
Clutch.
Suddenly, something grabbed the hilt of the Frost Maiden’s spear. She didn’t pay attention to it, trying to continue her attack, she was only a fraction of a second short, yet she couldn’t move her spear.
Then, she raised her head to meet Adam’s gaze. His veins were still swollen, but his eyes were no longer bloodshot.
The effect of his resonance hadn’t stopped or weakened, it merely changed. Adam couldn’t get to the Crimson Monarch right now, so his attention spread out across the battlefield instead of focusing on a single target.
“And? What are you trying to do?”
His calm voice contrasted strongly with the heavy breathing of the man and the girl, their hearts beating vigorously, trying to fight the oncoming despair. Adam was their hope, the only one who could protect them and give them a chance to see the dawn.
The Frost Maiden narrowed her eyes. The main goal of her assignment was in front of her. But, unlike the other Phantoms, she could not kill Adam, her lord needed him alive.
Slowly, Adam pointed his left arm upwards, the Frost Maiden didn’t realize how, but now her spear was lifted – her efforts weren’t enough to counter Adam’s strength.
“Apparently, your power is now at Dark Mid Yellow level, right?”
Adam’s blue eyes grew deeper. Although the levels confused him, he instinctively sensed the changes in the monster’s strength.
“Well, I don’t even know if I should be happy, or not.”
The Frost Maiden realized that her inaction was unacceptable. She couldn’t retrieve her weapon, for the second time, but now she was strong enough to fight even without her spear.
Whoooooosh.
In an abrupt dash she stepped back, leaped to the side, and in one jump appeared to Adam’s right.
Her fist was tightly clenched, eyes narrowed, staring intently at Adam, seeing his every move even the slightest.

Tap.
Adam’s palm engulfed her fist, effortlessly stopping the Frost Maiden right in mid-air. She tried to continue her attack, but… realized she couldn’t budge.
Adam grabbed only her fist, but his strength was enough to hold her whole as if he were lifting a massive oak tree by the tip of the root.
It was a vulnerable position for the Frost Maiden, yet before she could do anything, Adam lowered her to the ground, placing her in front of him.
“Grha…?”
The Frost Maiden blinked a few times in disbelief. She didn’t understand why Adam was so strong and why he never tried to attack her yet.
Adam’s eyes moved to the right. He released his needle and raised the Frost Maiden’s new spear.
“Here, this is yours.”
In a calm way, Adam tossed the spear to her. The Frost Maiden reflexively caught it, but unlike the nonchalant Adam, her gaze never left him for a moment.
“But…” Adam looked down, he still had a firm grip on the Frost Maiden’s fist, “I’m afraid this I’ll have to take back.”
In the blink of an eye, Adam jerked his hand sharply to the side. The Frost Maiden braced herself for the fact that he was about to toss her aside, she should have flown in the direction of the throw by inertia.
Still… the Frost Maiden stayed where she was, she felt no pull to the side, but soon a vivid pain filled her mind.
Thrust.
Her right arm ripped off to her shoulder, Adam tossed the Frost Maiden’s limb aside like useless trash.
A stream of blood flooded the white snow on the ground, a few sparse drops flew in front of the Frost Maiden’s trembling eyes, she couldn’t believe this was real.
The man and girl still lying on the ground in the snow and black sand simultaneously gulped. They saw what and how Adam did.
“No way…” the man whispered, it was hard for him to speak, “He did it so easily… It was as if he didn’t tear off the monster’s arm but separated one piece from another…”
The girl watched in silence. Deep inside she was glad that Adam saved them, but she as Phantom felt weak and useless.
The Frost Maiden abruptly took a few leaps to the side, picking up her arm along the way. Regeneration would allow her to regain her limb, but that wasn’t the problem.
Her opponent, her lord’s target – Adam Vinter, was too strong.
At the same moment, thunder clouds thickened over Adam, gathering the force of violent rumbling.
All the while, the Crimson Monarch was preparing an attack to knock Adam out of the battle in one move.
