Endless Evolution: Last Star - Chapter 785
Chapter 785: Crimson Ray
No matter how great the lightning was, it always struck only one point.
More often than not it was a spot high above the ground, towering over all other objects, but that only applied to natural thunder – the one moving at Adam was under the full control of the Crimson Monarch.
Adam didn’t try to escape, he took up the Steel Knight stance from his memories. Now he would defeat the Steel Knight without lifting a finger, the power of his aura would be more than enough.
Yet, the monster that died at the beginning of Adam’s journey was still with him and was still able to contribute to the fight against the Overlord Type.
The man and the girl turned around at the last moment. They thought Adam ran with them, but they saw only his serene silhouette awaiting punishment from the heavens. Unlike them, he realized that there was no point in running, only to fight.
At the same moment, a crimson thunderbolt rained down on Adam, smashing into the tiny tip of a needle many times smaller than a seed.
The white blast of pure energy blinded the Phantoms for a moment, leaving only Adam’s silhouette, trembling and unstable, it looked like the thunderbolt was about to tear him apart, at least, that was bound to happen to any Phantom in his place.
Red electrical discharges roamed Adam’s body, some went into the ground as he planned, but the conductor was his needle and arm. If the needle was strong enough to withstand even such a powerful attack, Adam wasn’t made of steel, he was a creature of flesh and blood.
In seconds, his arm was covered in burns, layer after layer until his skin was black as coal, the blood didn’t even have time to escape through the cracks, it baked under the tremendous temperatures, spreading a foul smell of burning.
Adam clenched his teeth, he didn’t scream, but he was in pain, he could hardly stand the agony tearing him from the inside.
This pain was different from anything he had experienced in the past, yet it was similar to what Adam experienced when he interacted with Lone Blaze.
It was not only his body and mind that was in pain, but also the energy lurking in his inner space, his most protected yet vulnerable place.
Strangely enough, he soon heard a worried voice coming from deep within:
[Adam! I’ll help you!]
Then, taking advantage of Adam’s efforts and the toughness of his body, the bright flames covering his needle ignited more intensely, absorbing as much of the thunder’s energy as it could.
Crackle. Crackle. Crackle.
The remaining electrical discharges traveled along Adam’s legs, tearing the cloth of his pants in several places before sinking into the ground.
The main force of the thunderbolt remained on his needle, held back by the flames, but the thunder was far more powerful than a lone flame.
[Adam! Hurry up! Release all the energy or the thunder will kill you! My flames and that bastard’s electricity will blow you to bits.]
Without hesitation, Adam pointed his needle forward, aiming at the Frost Maiden standing in the distance. He held his needle not like a weapon, but like a gun, a cannon ready to fire.
Thunder was ready to break free of the flaming captivity, but thanks to Adam’s quick reaction, Lone Blaze took the chance given to her.
In a heartbeat, the flames opened like the bud of a massive flower, the fiery tips headed towards Adam’s side, carefully covering his hand, from the gap under the powerful pressure came out all the energy of the thunder in one shot.
The Frost Maiden shuddered, a chill ran down her spine, her instincts screaming for her to run.
Splash.
A flood of blood rushed in different directions, a crimson ray went through the Frost Maiden, the thunder didn’t even leave a piece of her.
A second later, the ray crashed into a random hill, leaving a wide black trail behind it, hundreds of tiny embers burning among the sand.
A pillar of flame burning the snow rose high up, the shockwave in a gust of wind spread tens of meters, stopping local battles and attracting even more attention.
Staring with wide-open eyes, the man and the girl glanced over at each other. They looked at the bloody stain – all that remained of the Frost Maiden, then they turned in Adam’s direction.
Crackle. Crackle. Crackle.

The black, charred skin, piece by piece, fell from his arm, revealing new, pink skin as if Adam had just been born.
Adam’s corners of his lips turned upward, forming a bitter smile. The cold wind currents were enough to make his arm ache again, but the skin was recovering quickly, soon he would forget the burn.
“Good work, Lone Blaze.” He said sincerely, “If it wasn’t for your reaction, even with this fabulous regeneration, I would lose my arm.”
[No need to thank me…]
Lone Blaze shyly uttered.
[It’s not just about regeneration, your body is strong and your energy control is commendable even from me…]
Without saying anything, Adam took a deep breath and raised his gaze – glaring at the Crimson Monarch. His opponent’s attack could not get any results, still, the Crimson Monarch had no doubts about his victory, sooner or later it would happen.
The Crimson Monarch did not plan to kill Adam, doing so would be much easier than trying to capture him alive.
He felt safe, for Adam with all his abilities could not reach an opponent flying so high.
Sure, the Dormant Lord brought the Flame Raider down from the sky to the ground, but against the Crimson Monarch such a trick would not work, he would simply throw Adam off or break the distance to take off again.
Then, Adam’s eyes grew deeper. He had a plan, but he didn’t know how realistic his hopes were.
“Hey, Lone Blaze, I still have one more use of the sun seal, the most powerful one, right?”
[Yes, but… What exactly are you planning to do?]
“Well…” Adam narrowed his eyes, staring intently at the Crimson Monarch’s wing, “First, I need to see if you can do…”
After a few seconds, Adam had an answer, his eyes lit up with bright flames just as the sun seal burning his chest.
