Endless Evolution: Last Star - Chapter 790
Chapter 790: Desired Encounter
Rumble. Rumble. Rumble.
With a deafening rumble, the former Unknown Phantom collapsed into the fortress. Several lighting shots followed him, exploding as he landed.
The Phantoms in its path quickly ran away, afraid of being hit by the shockwave, yet the Crimson Monarch’s target was only Adam. The rest of the Phantoms weren’t even capable of reaching him, let alone fighting back.
“Look out!”
Under a quick shout, the Phantoms jumped aside, fleeing from the flaming silhouette like a meteor.
A cloud of dust rose high up, reaching the level of the towers. For some reason, the Crimson Monarch stopped firing, he wanted to make sure what happened to Adam.
‘At least ten rays hit him, I don’t know how many of them were weakened due to his energy control and fire wing, but critical damage is guaranteed.’
Despite his musings, the Crimson Monarch did not remove his grip on the wrist. He did not jump to any premature conclusions.
The Phantoms in the fortress quickly gathered around the crash site. Some wanted to help Adam, mostly the supports, but most wanted to see him. It was unknown if Adam would’ve ended up in the fortress if not for this situation.
Katrin and Gnash ran towards the dust cloud as well, Viron followed them, but he was in no hurry.
‘Now he’s in the fortress… That’s too bad, no…’ Viron narrowed his eyes, glaring at the Crimson Monarch, ‘This is a disaster – their battle shouldn’t touch with us.’
Step. Step. Step.
Step by step, the figure hidden behind the smoke screen slowly walked out. At last, the Phantoms saw Adam VInter, the Unknown Phantom about whom they had many assumptions.
Blood trickled down his arms, drop by drop, pooling on the cold surface. The regeneration was doing its job, the cuts and burns from the blasts recovering quickly.
Part of his face was covered in blood, his black hair messy and sticky, but his gaze remained focused.
None of his muscles were damaged, his bones and organs were intact as well. Even his clothes, though badly scarred, were repairing quickly, taking a tiny fraction of his energy.
His shoulders and back were the most severely damaged, the skin was torn and the flesh was visible in open bleeding wounds, yet it wasn’t something that would make Adam give up.
The Crimson Monarch’s eyes went wide as he muttered inaudibly:
“Unbelievable… What durability, was it his instincts channeling energy into defense or was it all about its density? Either way, I have my answer.”
Then, the Crimson Monarch removed his grip from his wrist, his eyes deepening, active streams of energy like great rivers ran through his body, preparing to fulfill the will of their lord.
The Phantoms looked over at each other, not believing their eyes.
“Shit, it’s really him…” someone muttered, covering his mouth with the palm of his hand.
The man next to him took a step back, his eyes hurt to see Adam’s wounds, the crater left by the crash.
“Yeah, not that we didn’t know that… but to witness him within a few meters is different…”
A whisper ran through the crowd, the Phantoms couldn’t handle the urge to talk about their experiences, to share their assumptions.
In a rush, several Phantoms, two young men, and three girls ran up to Adam. They nodded their heads in silence and used their abilities to try to heal his numerous wounds.
Adam didn’t bother them, but he didn’t even glance at them, his stare was directed at one particular Phantom standing in the center of the archway.
“Katrin… what a meeting…”
Their gazes met, both unable to believe they were fighting together again, and… once again Adam was the strong one.

Before she could say anything, Adam looked at the group healing him.
“Hey, forget about my wounds, the irregular energy will get rid of them soon. Restore my energy and use some amplifications, anything affecting speed.”
His voice was calm, almost serene, even though trickles of blood continued to flow along his chest and fingertips.
One of the girls looked at him uncertainly.
“But… Your wounds, there are so many, you won’t be able to keep fighting at the same pace…”
In response, she met his cold gaze, stern but not cruel.
“Do as I said if you want to survive. Wounds aren’t a problem, but without enough speed, I’ll lose the fight to him time after time.”
The girl gulped, with a guilty look she nodded a few times and got to work. The others listened to his demands as well.
Step. Step. Step.
Katrin took a few steps forward, stepping closer to him.
“Adam…” she clenched her fists tightly, staring at him intently, “There’s a lot I want to tell you, but now is not the time. Do you have a plan? How do we bring this monster down to earth?”
“The Monarch of Crimson Thunder, or… just the Crimson Monarch as my temporary ally said.” he glanced at the flames burning still just as brightly.
“What? How do you know that?”
Adam shrugged.
“He told me so himself. As it turns out the Overlord Type monsters know how to speak, probably better than some of us humans.”
Soon, he heard a pleasant, familiar voice:
‘Adam, Katrin, and the other Phantoms have defended the fortress since the beginning of the Eclipse. Katrin is the strongest by level, following her are Viron and Gnash, they are standing next to each other.’
After a few seconds, Adam nodded deeply. It was enough for Silvana to give him a summary of the situation. However, he saw the general picture in the first minute when the Crimson Monarch threw him into the ice tower.
Then, he raised his head, and a bright red light fell on his face.
“Katrin, I’m afraid I don’t have a plan… Plans are made up by Operators and strategists, I’m just a mere fighter. And, I figure on how to survive, how to win.”
Before Katrin could reply, Adam slowly raised his right hand upwards, a multitude of Phantoms pointed their gaze in the same direction.
The crimson sphere, massive and trembling hovered amidst the Crimson Monarch’s hand, much larger than a lightning orb for shots.
Katrin gulped.
“What is that…?”
A chill ran down the Phantoms’ backs, soon Adam’s words confirmed their wildest fears.
“Well… My opponent is going to destroy the fortress, along with all the Phantoms.”
