Chapter 795: Her Sacrifice

Adam didn’t know what was going on in the depths of his inner space. He was in a critical situation, he urgently needed to figure out how to fight with only one intact arm, though that wasn’t the only reason.

It happened to him many times before, in inner space time was running very differently, so Adam didn’t even realize yet that Silvana stopped communicating with him as well as Lone Blaze.

Wide-eyed, Silvana instinctively stepped back. She didn’t sense anything good from the strange girl.

Then, Lone Blaze’s words reached her ears, and her heart clenched painfully.

“What? What the fuck are you talking about? You’re not even human! You’re just an artifact! A stone lucky enough to absorb massive amounts of energy!”

Lone Blaze didn’t answer anything, she with a cold face continued on her way to Silvana.

Sensing her lostness and underlying fear, Lone Blaze raised her hand, mockingly stroking Silvana’s cheek.

Despite the flame that was Lone Blaze’s essence, her palm was cold, devoid of hospitality, even though she was a stranger there.

“You’re right, I am an artifact, the External Artifact.” Lone Blaze uttered in a carefree mind, “But I am useful. I can make the strong Adam even stronger.”

Slowly, her hand traveled down to Silvana’s chest, running a fingertip over her skin full of goosebumps.

“In turn, you’re nothing more than a tool that has lost its usefulness, aren’t you?”

Before Silvana could say anything, Lone Blaze was behind her, lightly squeezing Silvana’s neck with her slender fingers.

“You waste his energy on a mere glance, your ability has only resulted in a terrible wound.”

Without slowing her pace, Lone Blaze leaned in close to Silvana’s ear.

Silvana could not escape her whisper:

“He could die because of you… Soon, Adam will go deeper into the Wild Lands, more unknown places and monsters. You will become completely useless.”

Through a short sigh, Lone Blaze moved closer still, her lips almost touching Silvana’s ear.

“Tell me, why would he leave someone so useless as a partner? The only logical decision on his part would be to throw you out. I’ll be his partner, not just a guide with information but a true battle companion.”

Clenching her fists tightly, Silvana broke free of Lone Blaze’s grip. She ran away as if from a nightmare haunting her in reality, stopping only after a dozen steps.

“Agh… Agh… Agh…”

Silvana breathed heavily, tears streaming from her eyes as she tried to rid herself of Lone Blaze’s words that deeply invaded her mind.

“You can run all you want, you can’t escape the truth. Adam is a stellar talent, he deserves the best partner possible.”

With difficulty gathering her strength, Silvana decided to fight back against Lone Blaze.

As soon as she raised her head, she froze, meeting Lone Blaze’s eyes, cruel whirlwinds of flame.

“Unfortunately, the Evolution Tree already gave you the Evolution Seed, however… I’m sure it won’t mind if I take your place.”

Lone Blaze waved her hand, pointing to the darkness surrounding them.

“All I need to do is get rid of your energy, connect with Evolution Seed, and I’ll take this place for myself.”

Silvana’s lips trembled. She didn’t know if Lone Blaze could do that. Somehow she thought she had the strength to do it.

Seeing her lostness, Lone Blaze smirked insidiously and suddenly hugged Silvana tightly.

Silvana’s eyes went wide in disbelief, Lone Blaze’s hand gently stroking her back.

“Come on, you’re a smart girl, deep down inside you realize I’m right. I as External Artifact will be able to evolve with Adam, your time is over, you are no longer useful.”

Darkness and emptiness were slowly consuming Silvana’s heart, the emotions were gone from her face, since she was thinking the same thing. Her calculating mind always thought of the future, couldn’t help but recognize that Lone Blaze was correct.

Then, Lone Blaze pulled back, staring intently at Silvana.

“Silvana, step back. Let me become Adam’s Operator.”

Silvana’s fist slammed into Lone Blaze’s face, flames burning her skin, but she paid no attention to the pain.

It seemed her punch wasn’t strong enough for that, but Lone Blaze fell limp before collapsing to the ground a few steps later.

Tears came off Silvana’s chin one by one, falling into the endless darkness.

“No…” her voice was hoarse, her heart beating like crazy, “Even if you’re right, even if my helpfulness drops more and more with each Adam’s rank…”

Silvana gulped, her teeth sunk into her lip, a lone trickle of blood mixed with the river of tears flowing.

Another trickle of blood flowed down the pale skin, from Lone Blaze’s nose. Silvana’s punch was surprisingly strong. She had put all her anger and desperation into her blow. She could take a lot, but not the word that she would stop being Adam’s Operator.

Lone Blaze’s corners of her lips went up, the supposed cruelty and guile gone.

“Good girl.”

“Agh…?”

Silvana was stumped, she didn’t understand why Lone Blaze’s tone changed drastically.

Without getting up from the ground, Lone Blaze directed her gaze upward, straight into the darkness.

“Are you satisfied? Now, you owe me a favor.”

Before Silvana could realize anything, the darkness parted like clouds, letting in the light Silvana knew so well.

Then, a majestic, deep voice rang out:

[Sure… You did your job well. I now have full confidence… in both of you…]

Not intending to explain anything, the Evolution Tree continued:

[In that case… You can continue without me… She is ready.]

Without a moment’s hesitation, the Evolution Tree disappeared, leaving Lone Blaze without control.

Thump.

Lone Blaze nimbly rose to the ground, her dress not hindering her movements.

With a slight smile on her face, she turned to Silvana and pointed to her left hand.

“What do you say, Silvana? Ready to be useful?”

Lone Blaze placed her hands on the sides.

“Are you willing to give your left arm to heal Adam?”

“Are you ready to share his pain?”
