Chapter 878: It hurts…

Through the cloth covering my face, I stared at the man standing not too far away from me, yet it looked as if we were still miles apart. He stood beside the strongest vampire, Anna Blake.

Being her protector and family, I stared at the two with strong and strange emotions building up inside me, as hundreds of questions rose inside my head.

‘Will he do the same for me? Will he stand against the world to protect me? Does he even remember me? Why isn’t he coming to save me? Why isn’t he looking at me?

Does he blame me for not telling him about my true identity? Does he blame me for never coming back to meet him or for what happened before he left the orphanage?’

I can still remember the time when he only looked at me as if the rest of the world didn’t exist.

We were always together, and I had told him countless times that I am his wife, yet now he is standing there with someone else, surrounded by so many women. Is there still a place for me around him and in his heart?

My heart ached, and these feelings seemed to weigh down on me much more than the chains wrapped around my body.

I wish I could go up to him and ask him if he cares for me even a little of how much he cared when we were younger, if he really ever loved me or was it just a childhood memory for him?

I had so much I wanted to talk to him; I wanted to hold his hands and hug him just like before, passionately and lovingly, experience that wonderful feeling of stealing a kiss from him. But for some reason, I couldn’t even mutter a word.

It feels like all the memories I have been cherishing all this time, all the things I had imagined I would do upon meeting him again, I felt it would all shatter like a mirror, and I don’t know if I can stay alive if he looks at me with an indifferent gaze.

At first, I was just sent there by my uncle and parents since the condition of the dragon race was becoming worse and so that I could get to know him, but in such a short time, he grew on me, and I got addicted to him.

I spent almost all of my time together with him; just letting him out of my sight made me feel horrible, as if I was going to lose him, and now I can’t stop this ache in my heart.

It is so hard to breathe; I can muster any strength or confidence. What’s even worse is that after this tournament ends, I can’t even imagine what kind of fate awaits me.

My uncle and parents were killed by those guardians once they found out about our involvement in protecting the dimensional stone.

This might be the last time I am seeing him. What pains me even more is that in the last image of my beloved, I can only remember the love-filled look for another woman. Maybe if I was stronger, I could have changed it all, but in the end, nothing matters.

I’m happy to just see him one last time before I end my life to protect myself from something I don’t even want to think about. This world had broken me more than I thought it had.

Jayden took Anna’s hand and floated towards his seats. There were so many gazes focused on them, and one gaze seemed especially intense. Without even turning his head, he knew where exactly it was coming from. He arrived in front of his seat.

To his left, Alice was seated, and to his right was Eleanor. Without the exchange of any words, his wives understood what Jayden was thinking. Eleanor nodded as her seat floated away along with his other wives as some space appeared on his left.

In the next instant, another throne began to form. Jayden gently held her warm hand, feeling her soft skin as he made her sit on the throne before going back to sit in his own place.

Sitting on the throne wearing a blood-red dress, Anna looked at Jayden with a small smile. She couldn’t express her feelings at this moment.

Staying in that dark place for so long, she had imagined countless times how her first meeting with Jayden would go, and it was much better than anything she had expected.

For some reason, she enjoyed feeling his intense emotions, which were only caused because of her. Him getting angry for her, his gentle gaze—all this time she had only seen it directed towards other women, and at one point she had started to feel irritated by it. But now, those same things made her so happy.

She could feel her confidence and pride rise only because of him.

“That was an interesting spectacle.” The voice of the guardian suddenly sounded. All the gazes drifted back towards them from Jayden and Anna.

All six of the guardians raised one of their hands, as a bright white light flashed from their blurry figures, and then it was directed towards the place where the remains of the coven leader lay, in a puddle of flesh and blood.

Under everyone’s shocked gazes, it all began to float and form a shape. Within seconds, it formed a human-like shape, and then muscles and skin began to appear, as slowly the figure of Rudrix came into view.

He was kneeling on the platform as even his clothes returned to exactly how they were before Jayden killed him.

“H- He… Is he really alive?” Haa Haa. Rudrix once again began to breathe under countless shocked and bewildered gazes.

All the people murmured about this bizarre event.

After all, death is the one thing that they couldn’t even imagine to beat ever, yet they had just witnessed a power so great that even death bent away from it. Just thinking that they could obtain such a position filled everyone with a strong bloodlust.

Rudrix stared down; he couldn’t understand what had happened. He touched his throat, and his body just wouldn’t stop shivering.

“Now, as I said, Anna Blake is the final reward for this tournament. Let’s start the second round of the tournament.”
