Chapter 879: Second round
Everyone became silent as they heard the announcement of the start of the second round; they focused on the guardians excitedly waiting for the details.
“Similarly to the previous round, any race that loses will lose a quarter of their population and half of the resources,” the guardian spoke and paused for a moment as frowns appeared over the faces of most, though some were quite confident of their victory.
“I think something is wrong.” Anna spoke, leaning towards Jayden. She didn’t notice that they were still holding hands; she was gripping his hand tightly as if they might be separated if she let go.
Acting as if she had not noticed the hand, she continued with her words, though it felt quite strange to be able to talk to him like this and not through his mind:
“The races remaining here are the strongest ones. Killing such a large number from them means a lot of strong beings would be killed, and it will greatly affect the power level of our universe. After all, it will be greatly weakened. It’s like they are deliberately trying to weaken this universe.”
Her gaze was focused on Jayden only as she spoke. Even as the second round was about to start, she couldn’t stop staring at him; he looked way better when she looked so up close.
“You also think they have some other motive behind this whole charade of a tournament aside from getting the dimensional stone?
Could it be that they have joined with the forces outside of our universe? If these six got the stone, then this universe would literally be theirs, but even after gaining so much strength, what would they gain from it all?” Jayden replied.
There was a lot going on, and every challenge seemed bigger than the previous. Before Anna could reply, the sound of the guardian sounded again:
“Now, select members from your race or alliance that will be participating. After you have entered the battleground, I will share the further details.”
Many people frowned upon hearing this. They would send people based on the type of challenge that they would have to face, but now most of the races could only choose the strongest ones among them to go onto the battlefield.
Within just a few minutes, most of them had decided the groups.
Jayden stared in the direction of the six guardians, completely ignoring Rudrix, who floated not too far away from them. If his doubts are correct, then this round is going to be pretty complex.
After thinking for a few seconds, he looked at the members of his family and the other races that had formed an alliance with him.
“I will be going alone to this round as well,” he spoke. The goblin king and Caleb were aware of Jayden’s strength; they didn’t think they would be of much help anyway.
Instead, they might end up dragging him down, so they followed his order without any opposition.
Seraphina seemed to want to say something, but Hecate spoke first: “Will you be fine? Just in case, let me come with you. I am sure I will be of help to you.”
Anna and his other wives shared the same opinion. Since he had formed an alliance with a few other races, he could only take a few others along with him. Jayden shook his head and spoke:
“This round is going to be troublesome. The guardians had announced such rewards just before this round, and now they didn’t tell what this second round is going to be. I have a feeling that I should go alone.”
He didn’t tell them about his thoughts, so they could only nod. In his alliance, only the goblin king could be considered somewhat strong.
From the beast race was just Caleb, Seraphina, and his daughters from the witch race, the two women from the dragon race and on the human race, aside from the Arcane, there were a few gods too, but even in this dangerous situation, they didn’t react. Jayden’s gaze met with God Shiva, who was also seated on the platform; both of them nodded at each other.
“Should I go along with you? Though I doubt there would be any opponent whom I could defeat and you couldn’t,” Shiva spoke, a small smile on his face, with his body covered with ashes.
“I will be fine, though we might need to fight together in the upcoming round,” Jayden replied as he stood up and floated in front of his seat. He glanced back and nodded just as his body disappeared and appeared in one part of the battleground.
One by one, all the fighters disappeared, and within a few minutes, everyone had entered the battle areas. After watching Jayden, the vampire king Giure had gone alone.
The vampire race had also formed an alliance with two other races, though it was done by Mapel, but now it could not be changed. Giure only hoped not to end up in front of Jayden.
Everyone stared at the people standing in different parts of the battleground. Each race or alliance was separated from one another, which confused the others even more since they believed this was going to be one-on-one. Most of the races had sent at least five members, and the races which were alone had sent ten members, the strongest among them, since they needed those rewards at any cost.
“Now, let me tell you about the second round.” After a short pause, he added: “In this round, you have to fight within your region, and only one last standing person would be the winner. Which means you have to kill the people who are currently standing around you.
Within one hour, you have to kill the others in your battle area. If there are more than one member after an hour, then we will send a creature who would kill every single member present there, so do your best. Of course, if you can kill that creature, then all the members would be allowed to go to the next round.”
Complete silence took over the entire place as they heard this announcement, especially the people who were raring to fight just a few moments ago.

They stared at one another’s faces in shock and bewilderment. Even the werewolf king stared at the six guardians. He had entered the battlefield with his family, and in werewolves, one prioritizes their family above all else; he couldn’t even imagine attacking his own family.
Jayden had expected something like this, so he just stood silently in the battle area with his arms crossed, while most of the others were raising complaints, begging, and some even shouting to change the setting of the round, but the guardians ignored them all as one of the guardians spoke:
“If you wish to obtain the ultimate rewards, you would have to do what others couldn’t. And do you really want to just give those rewards to the other members of your race even after you win the tournament?
Forget blood and any relation. In this round, the people around you are your enemies. You might be hesitating, but the others might take this chance to behead you, so make your choice carefully.”
After these words were said, the battleground became silent.
