Chapter 880: Hideous

After hearing those words, all the people stared at each other. The trust they previously held in their eyes now seemed to have been replaced by doubt and greed, though some looked at each other in horror and confusion.

“No, we can’t fight each other. If you wish, I can fight against two other races; just don’t make us fight each other. All of them are like my brothers; they are definitely stronger than most of the rulers of other races.

Do you really wish to kill them all?” the werewolf king, named Maximus, screamed. He was the one who seemed the most enraged and regretful.

Even the other members of his race that stood beside him looked at one another with complex emotions.

There was no way that the guardians were going to change the round; they all knew it, and they can’t attack each other, so they were left with only one choice. Since the werewolf race had not formed any alliance, the king was too proud, so all ten were from his race.

They glanced at each other and seemed to understand what all of them were thinking. If they lose the round, not only will they die, but a lot of others will lose their lives from their race—young and old; not even children were being spared.

“Prepare yourself; the round will be starting soon. If you don’t wish to attack the others from your race, then you can defeat the creature that will appear once the round is over.” Without paying much attention to the various complaints, the guardian spoke.

Maximus gritted his teeth. After seeing no response to his words, he turned to the other members and spoke: “We will try to fight the creature at the end. I am sure if we all fight together, we will be able to defeat it.”

“…” The other members remained silent; they had a feeling that the creature the guardians were going to send was going to be extremely dangerous, and they most probably wouldn’t be able to defeat it. In that case, they would all end up dying.

Jayden looked at the various kinds of dramas unfolding all around him. He could already tell which races were going to have conflicts. Few races that had formed alliances were less affected since killing a friend from another race is relatively easier.

The vampire king glanced at Jayden in the distance with a grateful expression. He wondered how Jayden was able to figure out the details of this round; if not for him, then Giure himself might have needed to kill his counts.

“Now, the one-hour time for the second round… begins!!!” Just as the loud voice sounded, a silence descended upon the entire battle area. Two lights fell at different parts, which attracted many gazes. They all turned to look at the places where the lights fell, wondering what had happened.

But they were all shocked and felt envy as Jayden and Giure Grando were teleported back to their seats without even lifting a finger. By default, they had won the second round since they were alone.

“D- Don’t tell me those people already knew what was going to happen in the second round. I can’t think of any other reason that they would come here alone,” a man staring at the two men jealously spoke, while cautiously eyeing the others.

“I saw that man enter even the previous round all alone, so I am sure it was just pure luc- ughhh.” While another one was answering, he suddenly felt something striking his neck from behind as a long sphere came out of his throat, killing him in an instant.

Just as the first scream had sounded, it was as if a chain reaction had started. One after another, people began to kill each other. They forgot any relation they had with each other and attacked more and more ferociously.

“Did you know about the content of this round?” Sasha asked, looking at her husband with sparkling eyes; she felt too proud of him.

“I just had a feeling; anyway, few races would be reduced after this round,” Jayden replied. He wanted to talk with Anna, but the situation right now wasn’t really that good. He glanced at her and found her staring back at him.

“Let’s wait and conserve our strength for now. We have to do our best later,” Maximus spoke, looking at the other werewolves, who looked gloomy and were looking down with apologetic expressions.

“I am sorry, Maximus, but I don’t think we will be able to kill that creature. The guardians aren’t going to go easy on us, and if we all die, too many of our families will die, and I don’t want my little princess to die, who is just a year old.”

A man who was the second strongest and related to Maximus by blood as a brother spoke; his voice sounded very pained, as if he was making a very difficult decision.

“W- What are you talking about? You aren’t thinking of just leaving your daughter behind, are you? We have to stay strong; we will be able to defeat him. Just don’t give up—” Maximus felt as if his heart was about to shatter. He desperately tried to convince others.

Another member of his group interrupted him and spoke: “You are the strongest among us and have the highest chance of winning, so don’t let us down and don’t blame yourself. This is our decision to protect our families.”

“Just make sure you get enough power. I am leaving my children in your care; make them as strong as you. Hahaha!” Another man laughed, though his laugh sounded very sad.

The atmosphere was the most melancholic among the werewolves. All the members shared something with Maximus, who couldn’t do anything. Despite all his efforts, no one listened to him.

After speaking, all of them glanced towards the bubble where their families were seated. They gave weak smiles and finally turned away from there, not wanting their families to see what was about to happen.

Even though there was still more than half of the time left, they didn’t want to delay it any more since the more time that passed, the more difficult it became for them, for Maximus, and for their families.

Together, all nine of the werewolves raised their hands and brought their claws to their chests.

After smiling one last time towards Maximus, soft puff sounds rang out as their claws were plunged into their chests, and without any hesitation, the claws pierced their hearts. In the next instant, all nine of them fell down; a painful and sad expression was all that was left on their faces.

Maximus fell to his knees as he screamed in terror. For the first time in his life, tears rolled out of his eyes uncontrollably. He continued to punch the ground as if trying to break his own arm.

Jayden looked at this scene, then he raised his head and looked towards the six guardians.

Through the blur that lingered around their bodies, he could barely make out the hideous smiles that appeared over the faces of the six guardians; the grotesque smiles were filled with pleasure.
