Chapter 886: Final round
“The previous rounds have been very exciting. I already know which among you are going to become the winners. Anyway, now only thirty-six alliances remain in this tournament, and in the final round, only five or fewer will be able to pass.”
While the voice of the guardian was ringing, the people began to murmur; some were excited, while others were still afraid, but all of them were eager about the rewards.
“In the final round, three people from every alliance will participate. I will explain what you have to accomplish later, so for now, choose who from your alliance is going to participate.”
Instantly, loud discussions broke out. The alliances planned to send out their strongest members but were afraid of them all dying; it would greatly weaken their races, after all.
Jayden looked around; he decided to bring someone along this time since there would be a lot of people, and it would be helpful to have a couple of helpers since the guardians might target him again.
“I will go with you.” Just while he was pondering, the voice of Lord Shiva sounded from some distance away. Jayden looked up and saw the God looking back at him; after a second, he just nodded his head.
“Can I come along too?” Alice spoke. She really wanted to beat those guys who tried to attack her husband; she was brimming with rage, just like his other wives.
“…” Jayden smiled as he gazed at her beautiful face. Because of her anger, her cheeks had turned red. Caressing her cheek lightly, he spoke: “You can’t do that; you need to have plenty of rest, right?”
While speaking, his gaze shifted from her face to her belly. Although all of this was too sudden, just the thought that his lovely wife was pregnant and carrying their baby filled him with so much joy.
It seemed Alice wanted to protest, but under Jayden’s resolute gaze, she just nodded. After all, their child was much more important than any revenge or any fight.
She felt even happier about the pregnancy since Jayden looked at her with so much love, not to mention she was carrying the essence of their love inside her body.
“Let me go with you.” Hecate’s voice sounded. She was one of the strongest in the group and would definitely be a great help for him.
“Hmmm, alright, let’s go.” Jayden nodded. In just a few minutes, almost everyone had decided upon the participants from their races.
They were especially nervous since it was going to be the final round, which would decide who would obtain the strength of those guardians.
“I don’t understand. Those six people are so strong, but why are they just giving their positions and strength to the winners of this tournament? What will happen to them after this?” one of the people asked out loud; he was from one of the remaining races.
“Maybe it is a process of passing over their duties, or maybe they have obtained powers that far surpass what they currently possess.
In any case, those six will only become more terrifying in the future, and I am not sure having someone like them will be beneficial for our universe, seeing how they easily kill so many people,” another person answered.
“Shhh, don’t speak anything like that! What if they decide to just kill us all because of your words?”
The two of them sat in silence as they looked at the guardians in fear.
After around half an hour had passed, the voice of the guardian rang out once again. It had a tinge of excitement that wasn’t there before: “Looks like all of you have decided upon the participants. There will be a little twist in the game to make it more interesting, but first, all of you come to the battle area.”
As the voice faded, three people from the thirty-six alliances each disappeared from their platforms and appeared in a single battle area, but this time it was bigger than the previous round.
All the participants looked around to see the faces of their opponents. Each alliance had enough distance between them, and it seemed the whole battleground was available this time.
While looking around, they all noticed that the thick vines wrapped around the pillars had started to move.
“…” Just after appearing in the battle area, Jayden noticed that he was alone. Unlike the others who had arrived there in groups of three, Shiva and Hecate didn’t appear there with him for some reason.
‘Just as I had expected, but I guess that just makes this round more exciting. Let’s see what they have planned,’ Jayden thought as he stood there with his arms crossed and gazed at the people around him without much interest.
“This round is going to be completely different from the ones you have experienced so far. In this round, you don’t have to fight each other but a single target.
To make things easier for you all, I will even provide assistance with the help of that golem and those vines, which have the ability to suck out the lifeforce from any living creature they touch.”
As they heard the words, all the eyes were first drawn towards the golem that was still hovering in the air. It seemed to be slumbering, yet the pressure it exuded made all of them tremble.
Then they looked at the vines. Some were as thin as a baby’s hand, while some were as thick as houses.

They were red in color, and sharp spikes could be seen coming out of them all over. Just looking at those vines instilled fear in the hearts of most, but as the guardian had just said, these things were going to be allies this time, not enemies.
“Sigh. It’s a good thing that we don’t have to fight them, but then who are we going to fight, that even the guardians are providing us support despite there being so many of us?”
The king of the giant race questioned. His body was so large that most of the other participants looked like ants in front of him.
From the platform of the angels and gods, this time no angel came. Instead, the ones to appear were Zeus, the true God, and Hades, and even from the other platforms, a lot of strong beings had appeared.
If they all combined their strength, then there was a high chance they could kill more than half of the guardians, but it would bring too much destruction, and none of them were sure of their victory against such mysterious and majestic beings.
“I have to win this round no matter what. If I can, then I will be able to bring back my family,” Maximus mumbled. His eyes were bloodshot, and all the wounds he got in the previous round had healed.
Lord Shiva and Hecate were surprised since they weren’t teleported into the battle area. A bad feeling filled her heart, and although she wanted to rush ahead and help him, it would be very difficult to break the barrier around the battleground. She saw Jayden nodding at her calmly, so the two of them returned to their seats with frowns on their faces.
