Chapter 897: Price of Victory
A long distance away, in the land covered by purple flames, several women stood together with tense and nervous expressions on their faces. Alice stood away from the group as she stared into the sky.

She bit her lip and clenched her fists. This was by far the most dangerous fight Jayden had ever been in, yet there was nothing any of them could do to help him in any way.

Then she felt a hand softly placed over her shoulder. Alice turned her head and saw Anna standing beside her with a small smile.

Anna looked as beautiful as ever, wearing a blood red dress though her face seemed pale and solemn. Clearing her throat, she spoke:

“Don’t worry, Jayden will be fine. He is very strong— stronger than anyone I have ever met— and he won’t leave his family… and his child.”

Alice nodded, but there was still a bad feeling in her heart. She gently placed her hands over her belly, where she could feel a weak energy. Releasing a long breath, she whispered to herself: “I hope hubby comes back soon.”

Hecate, Ada, Sasha, Jia, and all the other women were standing around with similar expressions. All of them were extremely worried about Jayden.

To keep them hidden inside the Nether Region, he had created several layers of void, stopping the passage of any kind of energy. It would be almost impossible for the guardians to find them and even more difficult to actually enter.

“Jay, please come back safe. Even though I got to see you after so many years, I wasn’t even able to speak to you or feel your warmth. I can’t live without you, husband,” Sydney spoke, her voice filled with fear and pain. No matter how many hardships the two of them faced, the separation between them just didn’t seem to end.

Beside her stood a mature woman with long green hair, her expression solemn. She was finally able to see her son, whom she had only gotten to hold once when he was just a baby. She knew how much suffering he had faced all this time and felt regret that she wasn’t with him.

She wasn’t able to see him grow, spend time with him, or watch the most precious moments of his life—the times when he was happy, sad, or hurt. She only remembered his face from the time when he was just born. Though she felt a little relieved to see that there were also good things in his life.

Seeing all his family so worried for him, she knew he must be very happy with them. Still, she wished to see him, talk to him, and hold him close. But because of the same people who had haunted her family all this time, her son was in danger.

This place right now contained Jayden’s entire world—his whole family and almost everyone he cared for and loved. Even if the universe ended up destroyed, the Nether World would be unaffected, and no harm would come to any of them.

Even though some time had passed in the outside universe, not even a minute had passed in this space where Jayden had left her. Just then, she saw the space in front of her tremble and split apart as a red figure came into view.

“Brother?” At first, she thought it was Jayden as the blinding light hit her face, but then she saw the Rakshasa. She held its hand, walked out, and saw everyone gathered there with worried and serious expressions.

Just as she was about to speak, a deafening explosion rang out, announcing the start of the battle. All the women trembled slightly as they stared into the empty space but couldn’t see the battle. They could only wait for Jayden’s safe return.

Eve and the assassins were also present there, along with all of the maids, the former coven members, and even Xerome’s girlfriend.

Jayden stored away the small piece of the dimensional stone and saw how the coven leader’s body was reduced to ashes as he got caught up in the explosion. He didn’t even know what had hit him, and the power of the explosion was so great that his body and soul had disappeared completely, with no chance of reviving him.

As the explosion died down, a black circular vortex came into view. It had several cracks all over it, and faint traces of the destructive energy from earlier leaked from it.

It crackled and broke as six figures came into view once again, but this time, they looked completely different from before. Their bodies were no longer blurry. Instead, their forms could be seen perfectly.

Black clothes were wrapped over their bodies. All six of the guardians looked exactly the same. The skin all over their bodies was charred black, and their flesh looked rotten. They appeared like six old, weak men whose bodies were in terrible condition.

They had received some damage from the attack earlier, but their current condition was mostly because of constantly breaking the rules of the universe. They always received harsh punishments, but for now, they were irreplaceable, so they continued without any worry.

“What a sight to behold, a perfect image to ruin anyone’s appetite. Before you try to get more strength, shouldn’t you do something about your appearance first? You six expired and burnt bags of shit,” Jayden taunted, his voice booming and making the guardians shiver in rage.

“I am sure you know that no matter what the outcome may be, you are going to lose. So just give us the dimensional stone, and we will leave this universe. We won’t harm you or your family,” the second guardian spoke.

Jayden remained silent. He knew that the guardians weren’t wrong. If he lost this fight, then he was going to lose everything. And if he did win the fight, then he could save the universe and his family—but he would lose himself.

He wasn’t sure exactly what would happen if he managed to kill all the guardians, but there was no chance of him surviving this. The universe would crumble without its pillars, and all of it would fall on Jayden.
