Chapter 914: The reason behind it all
Then Jayden’s gaze landed on a woman who looked like Sasha, but only a more mature version of her. She was kneeling and had suffered great injuries; right now, she was a human yet possessed immense strength.
And lastly, Jayden saw Sydney; even now, she was a dragon and looked a whole lot mature, but was quite badly injured.
All these women had gotten injured by Zendax’s hands; he had attacked them before the World Devourer had arrived on the battlefield—someone must have informed Zendax about his whereabouts and that he wouldn’t be able to return immediately.
Soon, an explosive wave of energy shot out of the World Devourer’s body that destroyed all of Zendax’s army in an instant, turning them all into minced meat, and throwing Zendax a few hundred metres back.
A shocked expression appeared on Zendax’s face as he stared at the World Devourer in fear and bewilderment and questioned: “H- How can you reach that stage by just staying in this small universe? Even I am only at the 1st star level, how could you be-?”
But he didn’t receive any answers. The World Devourer looked down at Alice’s body and then at the women standing or kneeling behind him, his aura becoming more violent.
Then he allowed Alice’s body to float in the air and rushed towards Zendax, who tried to flee like a frightened dog, but within seconds Zendax was on his knees begging in front of the World Devourer.
‘And he was bragging that the World Devourer had to sacrifice his life just to kill him, yet he failed to do so—heh, there is obviously a large gap between them.’ Jayden thought, looking at him in disgust.
But all of Zendax’s begging fell on deaf ears as the World Devourer shot a terrifying wave of world energy that struck Zendax and tore his body in two vertically, also reducing his strength to the lowest.
Then, instead of killing Zendax, the World Devourer locked him inside the space and then made him disappear, as everything became completely silent.
Jayden saw this scene and felt confused for a moment, wondering why he didn’t kill Zendax, but soon he understood:
‘It seems this was the best possible option for now, if he was killed then Zendax’s universe will definitely be alerted about it and soon they would come here storming with even bigger armies, and letting him go was not an option.’
After the war ended, the World Devourer waved his hand, slaughtering a few of the races that had betrayed them in the war and sent the rest back to their planets.
Soon he looked at Alice, Ada, Sydney, and Sasha; their bodies were too badly injured. They talked for a while and soon their bodies turned into specks of light as they entered the cycle of reincarnation.
Hecate and Anna looked at the World Devourer with a melancholic gaze; after saying a few things, they disappeared, leaving only him alone there.
Jayden brought his consciousness close to the World Devourer and tried to listen to the faint words that were coming out of his mouth.
“I am planting this seed, not knowing if it will come to fruition. Even with my current strength, there are a lot of beings I wouldn’t be able to defeat, and because of a previous accident I can’t go much further; my strength has almost reached its limits.
I have already woven a path for you; if we succeed then you will far surpass me. I won’t be of any help after this, but don’t let them get hurt again…” While he was speaking, the World Devourer’s eyes shifted to Jayden, taking him by surprise.
‘Seed? What is he exactly talking about? Maybe by that seed he is referring to me or the things and abilities I possess.
All the things that I had obtained—time manipulation ability, mind manipulation, space manipulation, World tree—everything was planned by him or rather the previous me, but it seems all of it will come to naught with how the situation had turned out to be.’
Jayden thought, but at least several of his questions were answered here, though he wondered how he possibly could become even stronger than the World Devourer just because of everything he had achieved and obtained.
Shaking his head, he pushed those thoughts aside for now; there was no point in thinking about that when he was sure that he had failed—not only would he not obtain higher strength, he wouldn’t even be able to reincarnate again.
‘I wonder what that Star level was that Zendax was talking about, maybe it was some way to measure strength; in this universe there is no certain way of measuring the strength of higher beings.’
While he was pondering about several things, the World Devourer’s body began to glow with a light so bright that Jayden’s eyes closed on their own, and soon the sudden wave of pain made him feel that he had returned to his body.
As his vision cleared, Jayden saw Zendax’s battered body: both his arms were missing, he was running away in terror, screaming wildly and pleading for mercy.
For a moment, Jayden remained still, in his mind pondering if he should kill Zendax or just seal him away like the World Devourer did—letting him escape was not an option.
“Killing him will undoubtedly give his universe the signal of his death and the location of this space, so they might come looking and sooner or later they will find this place.
But if he could escape from the sealed place once then he could do it again; previously he stayed in this universe since he believed he would be able to take over the entire universe because of World Devourer’s death, but I am sure he won’t make the same mistake, and as soon as I seal him he will escape from the universe.
In both cases I can’t stop the other universe from finding out about this universe,” he pondered. The big problem was that he didn’t know exactly what kind of abilities and secrets Zendax has, so killing him would at least mean having one less enemy.
After thinking about various kinds of possibilities, Jayden disappeared from his position and appeared right in front of Zendax.

Without saying a word, he clutched the former guardian’s head and squeezed it hard enough that both his eyes popped out almost instantly and his skull was crushed.
“Aaaaaaaah Stop it, I p- promise to never bother this ughhhh universe again, ahhhhhh just let me go ughhh COUGH COUGH,” Zendax screamed, but it was useless. Jayden struck his body again and again, turning all his bones to powder.
Then he threw the almost unconscious Zendax towards the ten islands, making him go through that extreme torture a few times.
While Zendax was busy riding over the islands with the other former guardians, Jayden decided to finish a couple more things.
He staggered and almost fell back; his vision had started to turn dark and his body was already collapsing, it seemed he had reached his limits and didn’t have any more time.
