Chapter 113: Subtle Care
Ryan was startled. However, when he thought about it, it only made sense. Nicolai and Noah had always been at odds with one another. They couldn’t even see each other in the eye without making snide remarks.
Any man would become livid if he were to find out that his wife went to look for his enemy after divorce.
“I am leaving bro. Calm down,” Ryan raised his hands in the air and then walked out of the office. He decided to give Noah some alone time as the man was furious. No matter what he said to Noah now, with anger clouding his mind and eyes, Noah wouldn’t listen to anything.
He walked out of the room and closed the door leaving Noah alone inside.
Brandon, who had heard the sound of something crashing, stood outside, he was staring at Ryan exasperatedly. He had several documents that he needed to get signed today, but now he was certain that neither of those documents were going to be signed.
Under his gaze, Ryan felt a bit guilty. He touched his nose and said, “So how is your day going?”
When Brandon heard Ryan’s question, his eyes widened, and he tipped his head slightly forward as if he were silently asking Ryan if he was serious. After a short pause, he replied, “It was going very well until now, however at this moment I am certain it’s going to go downhill.”
There was one more thing that was going downhill and that was Noah’s mood. He stood inside his room, with his fingers clenched and face taut. He did not want to believe a word Ryan said to him, but Noah also knew Ryan for a long time. His friend was many things, but he was certainly not a liar.
If Ryan said that he saw Ariana with Nicolai, then he was most likely telling the truth. But why did his wife go looking for Nicolai? Was she planning something? Or was she making a stupid move to make him jealous by following his enemy?
“No. No matter what, Ari is not this impulsive,” Noah might have never paid attention to Ariana, but he knew one thing about her. She was a woman with decent character and morals. Even though they were married for three years, and he never took the initiative to be intimate with her, Ari never did anything that would cross the line.
She was a rather shy woman when it came to things like such. Noah knew what kind of man, Nicolai was, certainly Ari would not find him attractive. So what brought the two of them together?
Noah’s expression changed again and again before countless theories started to flood inside his head. His hands clenched and unclenched before he fished out his phone and dialled Edward’s number.
“Edward. It’s me, look into what kind of trouble my wife has run into these days,” Noah ordered Edward who was the head of the intel and security team.
Most probably Nicolai looked for Ariana and found some trouble with her. If not, his wife was not the kind of woman who would even think about breathing in the same space as that disgusting and rotten man whose hands were covered in blood.
“Give me an answer in three hours,” Noah ended the call after giving out orders.
On the other hand, Edward who was asked to look into Ariana’s personal matters again was speechless. Why was his boss asking him to look into his ex-wife’s matters?
Did the two of them not divorce already?
“What happened?” Trey, who was beside him, questioned. He was holding a cup of coffee in one hand and the other he was holding a milkshake cup. He handed the coffee to Edward who took it without saying much.
“Mister Nelson called, he wants me to find out what Miss Ariana is up to these days,” Edward felt a bit bewildered as he sipped on his coffee. When Madam was living in the Nelson mansion, Noah did not look for her. Sometimes months would pass and Noah wouldn’t even remember having a wife to whom he needed to return.
Now that Ariana was gone, Noah was acting as a loving and caring husband. What kind of play was this? Edward who was a stern man thought that he was too old to understand such things.
Trey, who stood next to him, understood what Edward was thinking in one glance. He bit his straw and sipped his milkshake before stating, “You are forgetting that the Old Master is going to return very soon. His heart surgery was a success, and he needs only a few months of recuperation. Once he is back and sees Madam missing, who do you think he will explode at?”
He swallowed his milkshake. Trey then said, “Don’t think too much, rich people mess…people like us cannot understand.”
Though Edward nodded, he did not like the idea of poking his nose in the business of a woman who finally found peace. Not to mention, he wanted to tell Ari how he felt towards her.
But with Noah still pinning on Ari it seemed a bit difficult.
“Achoo!” Levy sneezed as she cupped her nose and mouth. She widened her eyes before returning them to their usual size.
“What’s wrong with her? Did she get some virus from those dirty bastard?” Nicolai asked as he looked at Aiden who was wiping the blood on Ari’s palms that were scratched. He had already dealt with Ari’s swollen ankle as it was important.
Now he was dealing with small injuries.
“No,” Aiden threw away the cotton ball which was held in the tweezers. “She might be not used to the cold temperature of the office after being outside in the warm sunlight for too long. Nothing serious.” He then picked up another cotton ball and said to Ari, “Turn your lips to one side, I need to deal with the cut, or it will leave a scar.”
Ari nodded while Nicolai clenched his fists as if he were about to throw his hands.
