Chapter 114: Princess carry?
Aiden dealt with the wounds on Ari’s body. He even handed her an ice pack to put on her cheek, which was swollen. Once he was done, he walked over to where he usually sat and then pulled his chair before sitting down in his chair and started writing on the notepad in front of him.
Nicolai, on the other hand, watched Ari slide down the small bed where the patient lay and move forward. He wanted to help Ari, but the woman seemed to be covered in a layer of frost. He did not want her to explode, so he dropped his hand and then walked behind her.
“Your ankle is twisted, fortunately, it did not break,” Aiden said to Ari while holding an X-ray print in front of the light. He studied it carefully and continued, “However, you should still be careful, don’t strain it too much and don’t put too much pressure on it. For the next three weeks, try to keep your walking to a minimum and keep an ice pack on the swelling every night for comfort. I have written some medicines and ointments, they will help you with your swelling and discomfort. If there are any other issues, you can contact me.”
As he spoke, Aiden took out a card that had his contact address and was about to hand it to Ari when Nicolai reached forward and took the card from him. He crumpled the card and remarked, “Why will she contact you? I will bring her to the hospital if there is an issue with her.”
Ari turned to glare at the man, while Aiden stared at his cousin with an expression that was half assessing and half exasperation. Most probably he was scolding Nicolai for not listening to him.
“Fine,” Aiden said after a short pause. He then turned to look at Ari and pushed the paper on which he wrote the medicine and ointment names. “Make sure you apply the ointment three times a day and the medicines need to be taken in the morning and at night.”
“Thank you, Doctor Aiden,” Ari thanked the man as she stood up from the chair. Though her ankle was still hurting, it was still better than before, however as soon as she stood up, Ari’s gaze was met with Nicolai, and she sucked in a breath.
Her broken ankle could never have been fixed but how was she supposed to fix this mess? She was dreading meeting Nicolai after the shameless antics that she did in her drunken haze. The embarrassment was enough for her to pray that the ground split into halves and swallowed her whole.
“Please take care of yourself, Miss Ariana,” Aiden picked up the habit of calling her by her name rather than her last name as he often misspoke. However, the second he called Ari by his name, Nicolai turned to look at him as if silently asking why he was calling Ari by her name.
Noticing his expression, Aiden arched a brow. He did not understand what was going on in the head of his cousin. Clearly, this woman was out of bounds, but he was going out of his way to get entangled with her.
However, Aiden understood Nicolai well. He knew that this was at most curiosity on Nicolai’s part. His cousin most likely wanted to taste the forbidden fruit and nothing else.
‘God, I hope that Nicolai does not cause trouble,’ Aiden thought with a throbbing headache. But if Nicolai was involved in something, Aiden was certain trouble would come sneaking very soon.
Ari and Nicolai stepped out of the office that belonged to Aiden. Nicolai looked at the woman beside him and said to her, “Do you need my help?”
He was only offering Ari, his hand because he did not want her injury to get worse. Ari, however, refused, she was already burning with embarrassment and shame, not to mention, that she was not used to anyone helping her.
‘Since I was a child I did everything on my own, it feels weird for someone to ask me if I need their help,’ thought Ari. Even if her ankle was throbbing with light pain, she was scared to admit that she required Nicolai’s help.
Seeing her struggle but still refuse, Nicolai rolled his eyes. He walked back and then crouched down, “Get on, I will take you to the car.”
“I don’t think this is appropriate——”
“It was well damn appropriate when you hugged my neck last time and damn near caused me to suffocate,” said Nicolai as he rolled his eyes once again. It seemed to have become a habit with Ari next to him. “Now get on, if you injure your ankle again, do you think that it will be as simple as three weeks rest?”
Ari’s face was flushed with embarrassment but upon hearing Nicolai’s words, she hesitated a bit. Her ankle injury was indeed a bit serious. Even if she did not rest for the next three weeks, she still needed to at least give it a little rest today.
“Can’t we just take a wheelchair?” She asked.
“Goodness, you want a wheelchair for such a short distance? Not to mention your injury is not that serious. It’s either this or I can carry you like a princess,” Nicolai stated.
After thinking about it Ari gritted her teeth and climbed on Nicolai’s back. She had already been embarrassed, a bit more did not matter.
Five minutes later, Ari was sitting inside the car of Nicolai. The man had gone to get her medicines and returned a while later, he was humming a happy tune and Ari counted the chances of him getting furious at the thought of his money being stolen.
Not to mention, she had no idea if she would ever be able to pay back the money.
“What a pleasant surprise Pallas,” stated Nicolai as he slid into the car and dropped the medicines on the dashboard. They were inside a brown paper bag. “I thought you were not going to talk to me for the next three days or maybe weeks after what happened.”
Ari’s face turned stiff, but she tried to keep a polite smile on her lips something she utterly failed at.
