Chapter 115: Confessing the truth
Ari screamed inwardly but as she turned to look at Nicolai, she asked in an overly polite tone, “I wouldn’t have if you hadn’t taken my drunken rambling seriously. Who in the world gives a million dollars to someone just because they asked anyway?”
And though she was speaking in a voice as if she was blaming him, Ari did not look him in the eyes.
“Okay?” Nicolai drawled as he turned to look at the heartless woman. Fortunately, he did not sleep with her or else she would be the scumbag in this situation. She would sleep with him and pretend that it never happened. Not that he would let her slide it under the rug so easily. “It’s my fault now? I gave you what you wanted or should I have watched you drown in the ocean?”
It should have been the ocean. It should always be the ocean, in that way, she wouldn’t sit in the presence of this man who creeped her out in a way Ari couldn’t explain.
Ari had distributed men as good and bad. Those who were kind and did not do any wrong were good while the rest were bad. However, the more she got to know Nicolai, the more she realized that he did not belong to either of the categories.
If she were to call him good, then she would have to ignore all the murders and crimes he committed. But if she were to call him bad, then Ari had to ignore the kindness that he had shown to her.
A man who was only kind to her, Ari had never met someone like this, and she did not know what to make of it. Occasionally she would feel some sort of bubbles in her stomach, which certainly was nausea. There was no way it could be butterflies.
Not to mention, if she were to get entangled with Nicolai, she would end up being shunned by society. Ari had once felt how worse it was when she was blamed for the murder of that boy …everyone looked at her as if she were a monster.
She would rather not feel that feeling again, as it terrified her.
Nicolai watched the woman’s expression. It was fun to watch them in fact, they were like a sweet addiction that added meaning to his days now.
However, Ari was nowhere close to being open to him, but Nicolai did not mind it. The only solution he saw in this scenario was to wear this woman down. Creep so deep into her skin that she would not be able to ignore him.
He was going to wreak havoc on her heart in the process.
After all, she was just so much fun to mess with. Sooner or later, Ari would fall at his feet like everyone else. Or more accurately to say that she would be on her knees for him.
“Are you going to stay quiet? And if you are can you tell me how long? If it’s for more than an hour, then I can get some sh*t done,” Nicolai spoke up and there it was, the widening of her eyes and looking at him in surprise. Yup, it was as if Ariana Harlow was expecting him to stay quiet in his own damn car. Which he bought and owned.
She blinked her eyes before they returned to normal. He then saw her open and close her mouth, as if she wanted to say something to him but did not know how to.
“Out with it, what did you do?” Nicolai leaned back in his seat and turned his body around such that he was looking at Ari. “You can get on with it, it doesn’t matter whether it’s murder or arson, I am not going to lose my shit.”
He usually did lose his sh*t on many things, but Pallas did not come on that list. Surprisingly, Nico The Great’s celibacy was making him a patient man, something that he was not before.
But then again, he was like a persistent arse-hole.
According to his mother and Zayden, he was like a bulldog. He was not only stubborn but extremely persistent. He knew what he wanted at once, and he would not stop until he got it.
Since that was the case then he could afford to be patient when he was trying to get into the pants of this woman.
“It’s not that simple,” Ari sighed feeling conflicted. It was as if she wanted to drop some major bombshell.
“Unless you want to suck me off, I don’t see why you are so hesitant about it?” Nicolai offered with a shrug and Ari who sat next to him choked on the breath that she just took. ‘
She gritted her teeth and turned to look at him. “Can’t you take your mind out of the gutter for like two seconds?”
No, he couldn’t. Not when this woman was sitting next to him.
He still remembered how he went caveman and jerked off at the mere image of this woman.
Truth be told someone as crisp and proper was not his type at all but something about Ari ——
“I am simply saying,” Nicolai stated with an impish grin. “There is no need for you to act as if your tail had been jumped on unless you had such a thing in mind.”
Hearing his words, Ari glared at him. She said to him, “That is not the case. Certainly not.” She hesitated and closed her eyes before confessing. This was going to come eventually, there was no point in hiding it. She said to Nicolai, “The money that you gave me was snatched away. I w…was bringing it to you, I swear but then Mister Fletcher——”
“Mister Fletcher?” Nicolai grabbed the keyword and arched a brow, causing Levy to pause as she nodded. She then stated, “He is the man whom I …no my father owes money. He caught me surprised and then snatched the money. I did tell him that it belonged to you, but that man did not listen to me.”
Mister Fletcher… eh?
