Instead, he continued speaking, “If that is the case then if we calculate, you will need at least fifty dollars for your groceries. This is when you only eat one single meal a day, next another fifty for your daily allowance and bus fare. There goes a hundred dollars, then I guess you are also renting the apartment where you live, even if the landlord is your friend, you need to at least hand him a hundred dollars every month including the electricity bill and water bill?”

“What…?” Ari did not understand why he changed the topic all of a sudden.

“You haven’t?” Nicolai questioned and then turned to the steering wheel. “Then I will give you a ride.” His actions left Ari speechless, she wanted to say why they were suddenly going to the city plaza but couldn’t as Nicolai had already started driving the car.

Forty minutes later, the car stopped at the Metallic structure of the building that was yet to be finished. Nicolai pressed the button in his car and the glass of the window slid down automatically, he then pointed at the building before questioning, “It’s cool right? It’s going to have fifty floors with a gym, mall and every other facility. I can’t wait for it to be finished so that I can lease it out.”

Ari stared at the building for two seconds before bringing her attention back to Nicolai, “What do you mean by this?”

Nicolai poked the tip of his tongue against his cheek and turned to look at Ari. He said, “Two hundred construction workers come to build this building every day, and they have been doing so for the past six years. Do you know who they are?”

As soon as Ari heard his question, she felt a sense of foreboding. She had an inkling, but she did not dare to bring it to her lips. However, after a short pause later she questioned, “Who are they?”

“They are the people who owe me money, of course, Pallas what a silly question,” Nicolai replied with a chuckle. “They owe me less than a million, and they couldn’t even pay half of it yet… And they do three jobs. You think you can pay me a million?”

Hearing his words, Ari visibly turned paler. She did not expect that it was that hard, she thought that as long as she worked harder, she would be able to get rid of this trouble.

But now that Nicolai had shattered that fantasy, Ari realized that she was the one who was too naive. How could it be that easy for her to earn money? The world was a harsh place, if anyone could earn money, why would anyone steal and murder people for the sake of money?

Seeing her pale complexion, Nicolai clicked his tongue. He said, “If you want to pay the money back so much then there is a way…” he carefully turned to look at her and glanced up and down, causing a bad feeling to arise in Ari’s heart.
