Chapter 123: Listen my pleas
Ariana had no idea that because of her, someone had lost his business. She was currently staying at home and reading some Medical books. Even though she was a talented student, it had been three years. She needed to skim through the information to jog up her mind.
‘I never thought that I would be given a chance to continue with my medical practice. I should try my best to get my life on track now that I have an opportunity,’ Ari thought as she finished reading another page of the book. However, just as she was about to turn the page, the alarm that she had set on her phone rang.
“Oh, three hours have already passed? I did not even sense it,” Ari muttered as she picked up the phone and took a look at the time. She was so engrossed in reading the book that she completely forgot to keep track of time. Fortunately, she set an alarm. If she had missed taking Timmy on his usual evening walks, he would have certainly ignored her for two days.
Ari slid off the couch and then walked inside the bedroom, where she opened the door of the wardrobe and took out a decent sportswear. Ever since Nicolai started joining on her morning walks uninvited, Ari had switched to decent clothing.
She did not like him making subtle aggressive remarks.
“Why am I thinking of him now?” Ari shook her head. She was thankful for the opportunity Nicolai had given her, earlier she had received a message from Nicolai that his cousin had agreed to take her as his student and Aiden had confirmed it as well.
However, her gratitude did not change anything. Nicolai was still the leader of a mafia gang, and she was just a common woman. Ari had no interest in getting involved with Nicolai more than required.
“Let’s go, Timmy,” Ari said to the dog who was lying patiently on the floor. No sooner did she speak, the listless Timmy got up from the floor and then rushed over to where Ari was standing. His tail wagged behind him in excitement.
“Are you that excited?” Ari chuckled as she looked at Timmy who let out an excited and playful woof. Ari tied the vest and then hooked the leash on the small hook on the vest. “Let’s go.”
Timmy immediately scampered outside the apartment and the two of them took the elevator before heading out of the parking lot. As Timmy and Ari walked past the gates, Ari uneasily looked around for a certain man. Every morning he popped out of the most unexpected places, she did not want him to do the same in the evening as well.
However, Nicolai did not appear instead in place of him someone else did.
The sound of growling caused Ari to turn her head and look in the front. She was quite surprised by Timmy’s growl as her little baby seemed to adore Nicolai. He never growled at him, even if the man popped out of the bush and scared her.
But when she looked at the man standing in front of her, she seemed to have understood the reason Timmy was suddenly growling.
“Ariana,” Noah called her in a soft voice, he was standing at the end of the street while dressed in a causal white shirt and black pants. A grey jacket hung loosely on his shoulders, and with his hair fluttering in the wind, he attracted the attention of many women.
While the women who were walking down the street were simply awed by the man who stood on the side of the road, Ari’s mood soured upon seeing Noah.
She hadn’t forgotten how this man had let her down again and again, yet he continued to show his face in front of her.
“Mister Nelson, how may I help you today?” Ari asked. Even though she was upset with Noah, she did not want to make a scene. She cordially looked at him and stated, “Was there something you couldn’t say on the phone?”
Noah’s brows twitched when he heard Ari address him as Mister Nelson. He was a bit upset, but he did not show it on his face as he was raised to suppress his emotions and be an outstanding man who could lead the Nelson family.
“There is something that I want to discuss with you,” Noah said after a short pause.
“What is it?” Ari asked with a wary expression. Did something happen to Old Master Nelson?
“What’s your relationship with Nicolai?” Noah asked Ari, he did not beat around the bush as this question had tormented him enough. Even though he only needed a few hours to dig into what was going on with Ariana, he felt like he couldn’t sit still.
The entire time his imagination ran wild and he almost went crazy.
When Ari heard his question, she found him a tad bit laughable. So she did what anyone would do, she chuckled.
Seeing her laugh, Noah could not help but furrow his brows.
“Why are you laughing?”
“I am laughing at you, Mister Nelson,” Ari replied after she finished chortling. “We were once married for three years, did I ever ask you about what your relationship was with Ariel? I didn’t right? Now that we are divorced, who do you think you are to ask me what and with whose relationship is?”
As she spoke, she was about to walk past Noah. She did not wish to get entangled with him, if Ariel found her, with her jealousy, she would not leave Ari alone.
‘I have no time to get involved in another mess,’ Ari thought with a tired sigh. Because of Nicolai, she finally had a way to repay the debt that she ended up owing. She did not need Ariel to create trouble for her because of Noah. However, just as she stepped past Noah, the latter stepped right in front of her again, causing her to pause and look at him with exasperation.
