Chapter 124: A hypocrite
“What do you want to say to me now?” Ari asked with a frown. She was no longer polite and said to Noah, “You and I are already divorced, why are you even paying attention to my actions? Don’t tell me stalking your ex-wife is a newly developed habit, mister Nelson.”

“Like I would want to stalk you!” Noah looked furious at the mere thought of stalking Ariana. He glared at her and stated, “Ryan was the one who told me that you were together with Nicolai. I was afraid that you were entangled in some sort of trouble, which is why I went looking for you. After all, we were once married, even if the two of us did not have a good relationship, I still hope that you will live a comfortable life.”

Ari had a calm look on her face. She noticed the fire sparking in Noah’s eyes, it was as if he was simply beyond embarrassed at the thought of her accusation of stalking.

“And I am living one if not for your sudden appearance, I would have finished this lovely day with a smile on my face,” Ari pulled Timmy back as he tried to take a bite out of Noah’s hand. It was fine if he growled but if he bit the hand of the CEO of the Nelson’s corporation, Ari was worried that Madam Nelson would have her head for dinner.

Her words were like a slap on Noah’s face. He couldn’t believe that the woman in front of him was the same woman who did not dare to raise her voice at him. However, no matter how offended he was, Noah stayed calm, he closed his eyes before pinching the space between his brows.

He said to Ari, “I know what’s going on. You are currently in debt, but there is no need for you to borrow money from Nicolai. He is the kind of man who would sell your soul to the devil just because you paid a cent less.”

“I haven’t borrowed money from him,” Ari stiffened as she subconsciously refused. She indeed did not borrow money from Nicolai intentionally, and even if she did, Noah had no reason to know.

For some reason, she did not want Noah to know about her and Nicolai’s relationship.

‘What am I even thinking? There is no relationship!’ Ari thought as she was jolted awake. She was just a debtor and Nicolai was her lender, what other relationship could they have?

Noah looked at Ari and did not see anything amiss. She was clearly not lying to him, but he still felt stifled at the thought that Nicolai and Ari were together yesterday.

He said to her, “If you want money, then I will lend it to you. There is no need for you to pay me back just consider coming back home.”

As he spoke, he glanced at Ari, and Ari smiled at him mockingly. Seeing her smile, he couldn’t help but furrow his brows. Now what was he said that made Ari dissatisfied with him?

“I understand, if that is what you have to say, then I guess we have nothing to talk about,” Ari stated coldly as she turned to walk around Noah. Since she couldn’t go on a walk to ease the trouble of her mind, she might as well go back home.

“What are you upset with now?” Noah asked. His temper rising, but he kept his voice even, he walked behind Ari, falling a step behind her. “Did I even say anything wrong? Why are you acting like such? I am trying to look out for you. You have no idea what kind of person, Nicolai De Luca is——”

“No matter what kind of person he is, I believe he is better than you, Mister Nelson!” Ari wheeled around, her long hair smacked Noah on the face as she turned. “You are acting nice and pretending to be helpful, but do you know that you are being hypocritical? Since you already know that I am in debt then I guess you also know that this debt is not mine!”

“It belongs to the Harlow family! However, why are you suggesting I take money from you and lower my head in front of you because you repaid the debt? Isn’t this because you are subconsciously protecting Ariel?” Ari snapped.

Tears threatened to spill but she held them in. She was not going to cry here and not for this man.

Noah turned silent at Ari’s accusations, he indeed knew that the debt belonged to the Harlow family and not just Ari.

However, he never had such thoughts. Was Ari right? Was he subconsciously protecting Ariel? When he thought about it, Noah realized that he was indeed careless.

“Why is it? You don’t dare to tell your precious saviour that she needs to take out a few million to help her dad? Compared to me, who doesn’t have a job, Ariel does! And she earns better than me because she is backed by you in the entertainment industry! The logical thing to do wasn’t you come here and tell me that you will help me pay a debt that is not even mine!”

“You should have gone to the Harlow family and informed them that they needed to pick up their mess! But you did not because that would put a strain on Ariel, whom you like so much,” Ari scoffed. She sneered at Noah, who was silent and stated, “Unlike you who is only a hypocrite, Mister De Luca offered me a job. A decent one at that, which would give me a chance to stand up on my feet.”

Noah snapped his head. He looked at Ari and questioned sharply, “What job?”

“You don’t need to know,” Ari sniffed. “I will deal with my troubles, since you have ignored me for so long, you can continue to do so. And even if you can’t don’t show off your hypocrisy in front of me, it’s simply disgusting.”
