Noah was walking behind Jonathan, his eyes flickered around the dimly lit corridor that had a dark setting. With black and gold colours dominating the entire corridor, it gave off royal vibes.
A big chandelier was hanging from the ceiling which made the entire floor look even more chic and exquisite.
“Who designed this corridor?” Noah couldn’t help but ask. “The interior designer is really skilled.” He was a man who appreciated talent and skills.
“It’s Mister De Luca,” Jon answered with a polite smile as he turned his head slightly to the left. He looked over his shoulders and was satisfied when he saw the dumbfounded look on Noah’s face. “He might be a violent man according to others, but he knows a thing or two about designing and art.”
Though it was a bitter pill to swallow, Noah had to accept this answer as he could see that Jon was not lying.
‘This building was designed by that brute?’ Noah couldn’t help but question inwardly. Even though the truth was in front of him, he refused to believe it. Or more like he could not believe it as he had always looked down on Nicolai.
“The Vase of Charlatan, was it also purchased by Mister De Luca?” Noah answered as he looked at the golden vase sitting on a three-legged table.
Three years ago, he had tried to bid for this vase but ended up losing it as the other person’s bid was too high. Back then, Noah wanted to approach the person and ask him to sell this vase to him, but when he found it was Nicolai, he gave up on the idea.
“Of course. He was quite impressed by the bravery of Lady Rosalie after reading her history,” Jon answered with a prideful smile on his face. “He thought that the woman was not only smart but also courageous, for her to dress up as a man and fool the court of ministers for the sake of her beloved.”
As he spoke, he did not forget to look at Noah. When he saw the pensive look on the man’s face, Jon snorted inwardly.
‘Does he think that all mafia leaders are all about brute strength? Though Nicolai is a bit impulsive, he is a man of great intellect,’ Jon thought with a hint of arrogance.
Noah, on the other hand, was indeed surprised by the things that Jon told him.
‘Nicolai read books on history?’ Noah was startled at this discovery.
“Here we are,” Jon spoke up, and Noah snapped out of his daze. He raised his head and stared at the mahogany door which was painted black, with a golden nameplate that had Nicolai’s name in bloodred written on it.
Jon glanced at Noah, when he saw that Noah was no longer lost in thoughts, he raised his hand and knocked on the surface of the door.
“Mister De Luca, I have brought Mister Nelson,” Jon stated professionally.
“Let him come in,” Nicolai’s muffled voice came from behind the door, and Jon stepped aside. He placed his hand on the knob of the door and turned it to the left.
The door opened with a click and Jon said, “Please, Mister Nelson.” He waved his hand in front of Noah for him to enter.
Noah walked past Jon and entered the room. His stormy gray eyes fell on the man sitting on the large leather chair, the second he walked inside the office, which was neither big nor small.
“Well, well, well,” Nicolai spoke in a sing-song voice. “What a rare guest! Mister Nelson, for what reason did you come here?”
“I believe you know why I am here, Mister De Luca,” Noah answered as he took a seat on the chair opposite Nicolai.
“Do I?” Nicolai tilted his head to the side. His impish grin did not leave his lips as he stated, “I have done a lot of things, Mister Nelson. But I need you to pinpoint for which reason exactly you came here.”
Noah narrowed his eyes. His expression turned sullen, and he no longer looked like a gentleman but a grudging spirit.
He remained quiet for two seconds before stating, “I heard that you have been getting close to my wife——”
“Ex-wife,” Nicolai corrected him almost at once. “She is your ex-wife now, Mister Nelson.”
A couple of minutes passed, tension started rising in the air. Zena who was working in another building, owned by the De Lucas, rushed inside the room with Jon who was carrying a tray with two glasses of drinks on it.
Even if Nelsons and De Lucas were arch-enemies, they needed to be polite on the surface.
Jon placed the drinks on the table, but Noah did not take a sip from it. Instead, he stared at Nicolai, who seemed to be enjoying the silence for the first time in his life.

“It doesn’t matter whether she is my wife or ex-wife, because she will be back sooner or later. I have no desire to maintain the status quo,” Noah retorted after a long time. “This is why I would appreciate it if you stay away from her. Getting close to you will not be beneficial for her reputation.”
Nicolai leaned back on his chair, he raised his feet and then placed them on the table, right in front of Noah’s face.
He did not answer Noah, instead, he turned to look at his cousin and asked him, “Zayden, you investigated Miss Ariana did you not? What’s her age?”
“I believe she is around twenty-four years old now,” Zayden replied with a raise of his brows. He wanted to see what his cousin was trying to do by asking the age of that woman.
Nicolai snapped his fingers and immediately pulled his legs back. He leaned on the table and looked at Noah in the eyes. He said, “That’s right, she is twenty-four years old, Mister Nelson. Not two years old, you are no one to make decisions for her. Whether she stays close to me or remarries you, the decision lies with her…not you.”
