Chapter 144: Deception through lies
Noah frowned upon hearing the cries of Ariel. He waved his hand and dismissed the head of the Design Department. When the man saw Noah waving his hand, he was rather dissatisfied. He had spent an entire week coming up with this plan and yet at the time of the presentation, he was asked to leave. That too in the middle of it!

If he left now, then he would have to start from the beginning.

And this was when he did not include the time he had wasted surveying the site where the hotel was going to be constructed. Does Noah have any idea how hot it was outside? In such hot weather, he and his team had examined the site!

Now instead of listening to his presentation, he was listening to the complaints of his lover.

Just where did the professionalism of his boss go?

Brandon noticed Mister Amos’s dissatisfaction. He walked over to where the man was standing and went out of the office with Mister Amos.

“Forgive Mister Nelson, Mister Amos. It must be an important call or else, he wouldn’t have asked you to leave so suddenly,” Brandon tried to appease Mister Amos who rolled his eyes.

He was near-sighted but he was not deaf. He heard the cries of a woman just now.

“I really miss, Madam Ariana,” huffed Mister Amos, ignoring the small apology of Brandon. He glanced at Brandon and stated coldly, “Regardless of what kind of woman she was, she at least had a good understanding of when to call and when not to make a call. Pity that she was not given the respect that she deserved, and now we have a troublemaker in our hands!”

He snorted and said, “I will be leaving for another round at the site. Tell Mister Nelson that I will give him another presentation tomorrow.” Though he said that, Mister Amos planned to take his children to the amusement park.

Last weekend he was busy surveying the construction site and couldn’t fulfill his promise to his children. He might as well make use of this opportunity!

With that, he stormed out of the corridor, leaving a helpless Brandon behind. The latter threw his head back and grabbed his hair, “Does it look like I don’t know that? I do! But what can we do when our boss is in love with a troublemaker!”

Inside the office, Noah had no idea that others were dissatisfied with him. He was listening to Ariel who was crying rivers.

“Noah, I just told her that she shouldn’t stoop so low, but Ariana seems furious at me. I understand that I made a mistake and I shouldn’t have kissed you, but nothing else happened apart from that kiss. And I have apologized to Ariana many times regarding that incident,” Ariel sobbed as she sat inside her car. Her phone was sitting on the dashboard as she applied lipstick on her lips and pretended to be hurt.

She dabbed the applicator on her lips and made a sniffling sound. Ariel continued to speak after sniffing, “However, Ariana still blames me. I asked her not to believe Nicolai De Luca as he is not a good man. Just how many people has he killed without blinking his eyes? Yet, Ariana told me not to bother with her and even asked me not to poke my nose in her business. Noah, did I say anything wrong? I was just looking out for my little sister!”

“Ariana had wronged me in so many ways, but I have never blamed her and I made just a drunken mistake, and she is treating me like I am her enemy! You tell me, what am I supposed to do?”

Her voice was filled with emotions as if she were really hurt by what the imaginary Ariana did to her.

Noah, who couldn’t see Ariel’s actions, was filled with anger. He believed what Ariel said to him, after all, Ariana had chosen to stand on Nicolai’s side instead of listening to him.

“Leave her alone,” Noah said angrily as he clenched the edge of his table. “Since she wants to die, then leave her be!”

He did not know what made him so angry. Was it Ariel’s tears, or was it the fact that his ex-wife was going to be in the arms of another man?

He ended the call and breathed heavily. However, that was not enough to calm his anger, and thus Noah slammed his phone on the surface of the table.

“Damn you, Ariana!” Noah hissed sharply. He did not expect that his wife was this eager to get her hands on some money. If she was in such dire need of money, why did she refuse the alimony that he could have given to her?

What was she trying to prove? Why was she willing to accept the help of such a shameless man, but not him? Where was he lacking?

The more he thought about it, the angrier, Noah, became. In the end, everything that was on his table, including his laptop, was swept onto the floor.

Brandon, who stood outside the office, closed his eyes. Fantastic! Another loss.

Ariel obviously had no idea about what was going on in Noah’s office. At present, she was smirking slyly and studying her lipstick in the hand mirror. She was rather satisfied with the outcome and sneered, “Don’t blame me for being harsh, Ariana. If you had agreed, then I wouldn’t have done something like this. It was you who forced my hand.” Ariel harrumphed.

She deliberately called Noah because she wanted to increase his dislike and disdain for Ariana and as for Nicolai?

Ariel did not take him seriously. After all, Nicolai was rather infamous for sleeping with women, sometimes multiple women at one time.

How could a man like him settle down for Ariana, who was beneath her in every way?

“Now that this plan has gone awry…what should I do to send Ariana to the Serpents? Aha!” A sly glint flashed in Ariel’s eyes and her lips curled up in an evil smile.
