Danny winced. He had just taken a sip of his beer when he heard Noah’s voice causing, the warm liquid to go down the wrong pipe. He coughed and spluttered before raising his head and glaring at Noah.

“Are you here for my soul? Even if you are, I am not going with a disgusting son of a b*tch like you,” Danny cursed while wiping his chin with the back of his hand. Jace, who sat next to him, handed him a cloth napkin to wipe the golden liquid that was dripping down the table and his chin.

Noah sneered upon hearing his words. “Like I would want your soul.”

Danny banged his fist on the table loudly, and he was not the only one who winced. Jace immediately caught hold of the beer bottles, before they toppled on the floor.

“Do you want to get punched in the face? Is that what you want?” Danny was affronted. How dare Noah look down on him? He was allowed to look down on this man because he was a bastard, but how dare he look down on him? What was wrong with his soul?

No matter what, his heart and soul were a hundred times purer and better than this mother tucker.

Noah ignored the man. He turned to look at Ari and said to her in a cold voice, “I want to talk to you. Come with me.”

Ari swallowed the sip of beer in her mouth. She turned her head to the right and glared at the man. With gritted teeth, she remarked, “Noah, have you gone mad or what? When we were married, you did not come to look for me in months and even if you did, you only said a few words. Why is it that now that we are divorced, you come looking for me every second day?”

It seemed like Stella and Trey were right, men could not be spoiled. The more you spoil them, the harsher they treat their women, but the second their partners turn their back on them, men come looking for them.

Heaving a breath, Noah said, “This is not the time to be stubborn, Ari. Come with me, or I will stay next to you until you follow me.”

Danny clenched his jaw. He stated, “I think you are really amusing, Mister Nelson. When Ari needed you, whether in sickness or trouble, you never even picked up her call. She had to turn to others, and now that you want to talk to her…she needs to follow you no matter what. Are you treating her as a person or a dog?”

“Was I even a person in his eyes?” Ari muttered under her breath. “If I was, would he have treated me like such? A decent man would have at least taken care of his wife even if she was just a nominal wife,” her words reduced Noah to a man who did not know how to treat his wife better, causing Noah’s face to turn grim.

Ari noticed that Noah was looking angry, but she didn’t care.

“Mhmm! While you were married, you had fun with your mistress. Now you suddenly remember that you have a wife? What’s wrong? Had enough of your mistress?” Danny asked with a cheeky smile. “Don’t look at me like that, since you dared to do it. You should be prepared to hear the taunts. Alright, don’t glare at me, I will zip my mouth for you.” He made a zipping action.

However, what Danny said was already heard by others. A few married women were sitting next to their table. When they heard that Noah was a man with a mistress, they glared at him with disdain in their eyes.

“What are you doing young man? This young woman is right. Since you have divorced, you shouldn’t bother her anymore,” one of the women remarked.

“That’s right. The path you have chosen is the one you shall walk on,” said another woman with a reproachful voice. “You shouldn’t disturb this young woman anymore.”

Noah pinched the bridge of his nose, he came here because he wished to convince Ariana and not to hear harsh criticism.

“Are you coming out on your own two feet, or should I carry you?” Noah jerked his head to the entrance of the restaurant. “I am trying to be civil, but you are forcing my hand, Ariana.”

Ariana scoffed with a look of disbelief on her face. “I am just trying to live my life, Noah. You are the one who is forcing my hand instead of me doing anything to you. I would rather not be bothered by you, which is why I did not take alimony. If I had known this was going to happen, I would have taken the money!” All she wanted was to stray clear of the path that belonged to the Nelson family, however, Noah continued to intervene in her life. “Now I wonder if I made the right choice,” she snapped at Noah.

Noah’s eyes remained fixed on Ariana, once in a while, his gaze would fall on her uncovered skin as if he were trying to find something. She couldn’t understand why he was looking at her like that.

“Are you really not going to leave?” Ariana asked after two minutes when she saw that Noah didn’t budge. It came as a surprise for Ariana had never seen Noah so patient. Back then, when she was two minutes late to their dinner appointment, this man was enraged. But now he was standing next to her like a door guard.

“What do you think?” Noah asked instead of answering.

“Fine, then keep standing!” Ari’s eyes held anger, and when her gaze met Noah’s, the anger in her heart turned even more fierce. Without looking away from him, Ari added, “I have waited for years for you to come and talk to me, but you didn’t have the time. Now that I don’t want to talk to you, you have the time of the world in your hands. Were you born to go against me? That regardless of what I ask you will only do——WHAT? WHAT THE F*CK ARE YOU DOING?”
