Chapter 148: By force (2)
Ari’s eyes were wide with shock. A second ago, she was sitting on the chair, but then another second later her worldview changed. She was now hanging limply on Noah’s shoulder while facing his back.
“What the f*ck? What do you think you are doing?” Ari screeched. She couldn’t believe what was happening for a second. Did the CEO and the owner of the Nelson Corporation just pick her up from the chair and slung her over his shoulder?
As she looked around her surroundings, Ari realized that she was indeed being carried on the shoulder by Noah. The second her reality settled in, Ari started to struggle. Her fists hammered on Noah’s back as she shouted, “Let me down! Let me down, you bastard!”
Noah however, did not settle her down. Instead, he walked out of the restaurant briskly, it was as if Ariana did not weigh more than a pebble in his hands. Her weight did not hinder his pace and he strode out confidently.
Everything happened so suddenly that Danny and Jace had no time to react, by the time, they realized what was happening, Noah was already striding out of the restaurant.
“Wait a second you bastard!” Danny dashed after Noah. He couldn’t believe that Noah Nelson actually dared to kidnap someone and that too in front of so many people.
The reason he and Ari were so calm just now was because Noah was a man of pride. Not once did they expect him to do something so shocking.
Danny and Jace were not the only ones who were shocked. Everyone in the restaurant was simply stupefied. The owner of the restaurant was holding the receiver of the phone and continued looking at Ari and Noah.
He knew who Noah Nelson was and thus dared not to call the cops but at the same time, the woman who was being carried off by Noah did not seem like she was willing to go anywhere with him. This caused the owner to be stuck in a dilemma.
‘Should I call the cops or leave the matter alone?’ The owner thought as he watched Ari being carried out of the restaurant.
“Let me down, you arrogant, self-centred baboon!” Ari screeched as she pushed herself off Noah’s shoulder, but the man’s grip seemed to be made of iron. No matter how much Ariana pushed him away, Noah did not budge, leaving her half-hanging in the air.
Seeing that he was not going to let her down, Ariana exclaimed, “You better put me down or else I will call the cops on you for molesting me.”
“It is not appropriate to call your ex-husband a molester, but sure go ahead and try it. I would love to see who in this city will dare to handcuff me,” Noah opened the door of his car and then shoved Ariana into the passenger’s seat.
“You must be out of your mind, Noah. You actually dared to drag me out like this——”
“I told you that you had an option of coming out on your own, but you didn’t listen. The next time, I say something to you, I hope you will pay attention to it,” Noah stated as he slid in the driver’s seat. He held a disapproving look on his face. “It will save the two of us so much trouble.”
Ari now glared at him as if she wished to cut him into a million pieces. She said, “You did not give me an option. You can call it an option when some other paths lead me away from you, not just you. You asked me to either walk or be dragged out, ultimately I only had one option and that was to listen to what you were asking me to do. That is not what I call giving an option!”
“Maybe from the beginning, I was the only option that you had!” Noah turned to look at Ariana. His voice was neither high nor low as she stated, “We could have talked things out but now that you have another path, you disdain the one on which you walk. However, what you don’t understand is that I was and am your safest bet.”
Ariana furrowed her brows. “I don’t understand what you are trying to do, open the door and let me go——”
She jerked back in the middle of the sentence as a second later, Noah had stepped on the gas after gunning in the engine.
“You don’t understand? Then I will make you understand,” Noah stated coldly as she floored the accelerator.
The speed of the car continued to increase bit by bit, Ariana who had never taken such a crazy ride before was stunned. Her back was firmly pressed in the seat on which she was sitting as she stammered worriedly, “What are you doing? Slow down!”
The dial of the speedometer was going crazy just like this man. What was he doing driving the car at such a speed? Was he trying to get them killed or what?
Ari clung to the edges of her seat as she looked at Noah. She wanted to stop him, but the street was filled with cars. If she swiveled the car around willfully then they might smash into some innocent person.
“Noah! What are you doing.?” Ari yelled at the man beside her. She glanced at him and then at the street. Her heart was thumping wildly as the car continued to drive faster and faster. The more the hand of the speedometer crossed each number on top, the faster Ari’s heart thumped in her chest.
Soon they crossed the glaring hundred and Ari felt her heart lurch to her throat. She wanted to stop Noah but then her gaze fell on the large blocks that were sitting at the sides of the port. While Ari was not paying attention to the street, the two of them had driven past the town and were now heading towards the large boulders near the port.
If they continued with the speed that they were driving currently, Ari was certain that they were going to smash to their deaths.
